This song was inspired by a sunset on the California coast some years ago.

We're all wandering around wondering where we're going.

  • This Fellow

    19/06/2007

We don't know exactly who "this fellow" is, but we found his melody rather catchy.

    18/06/2007

    You messed our server up!

  • Circuit Breaker

    17/06/2007

An ode to Randy's circuit breaker.

  • Something A Little Different

    16/06/2007

This song was written and recorded for an electronic music concert - back in the early part of the 90s. It tips it's hat to the Art of Noise as well as Jason's parents who unknowingly provided many of the vocal sound samples used throughout the song.

  • Roll The Dice

    15/06/2007

This song was one of a series of allegedly "failed theme songs" for the board gaming podcast BoardGameGeek, a.k.a. "GeekSpeak."

  • Barely Able

    14/06/2007

    Another song from the archives...

  • Automagically

    13/06/2007

Another song from our successful attempt to complete an entire album of songs within February of 2007 for Record Production Month (www.rpmchallenge.com). Holmes! pulled out the Devo card to Matt's lyrics and we were only more than happy to oblige. The pre-release of this album, entitled "All In A Day's Work", is currently available at iTunes.

  • June Bug in July

    12/06/2007

Feeling out of place...like a fish out of water or a June Bug in July

  • The Love Notary

    11/06/2007

Featuring the great Qadree Holmes on vocals, this song goes out to all Notary Publics everywhere. This song came about when Jason was asked to notarize a few immigration documents for two recently married friends of his - one of whom was applying for U.S. citizenship. When they asked Jason whether he could notarize their signatures "to prove it wasn't a sham marriage," he informed them they were in luck - he wasn't only a Notary, he was the "Love Notary." They laughed a bit at his comment until they realized Jason was serious about the concept making "a great song for The Song Of The Day" and found themselves stranded in his office with unnotarized papers in hand.

  • Overload

    10/06/2007

When Tom was in college, the knob on his distortion pedal was stuck all the way on. This song was the result...

  • Get On The Big Top

    09/06/2007

A demented trip to the bizarre circus.

  • Two Buck Chuck

    08/06/2007

Our ode to Mr. Shaw and his tasty, cheap wine.

  • Steam Over Cleveland

    07/06/2007

This is a souped-up version of a song written for the short film The Troubled Life of Guy Dickie (2005). Eric, Brian, and Jerry briefly performed as the acoustic sideband named after the film and this song was a part of those performances.

  • Why Don't You Drive?

    06/06/2007

A song about driving and road rage. Oh, and old people.

  • You Shouldn't Have Pissed Me Off

    05/06/2007

This one was written by Pete Shukoff of Nice Peter (www.nicepeter.com) the night before joining us in the studio to do some writing and recording. A version of this song will be featured on Pete's upcoming album alongside songs about Guitar Center and 50 Cent. Keep an eye out at www.nicepeter.com for details.

  • I Don't Want To Work Today

    04/06/2007

We thought this song best fit a Monday. It's from our forthcoming album, ALL IN A DAY'S WORK. (The pre-release of the album is already available at iTunes, but the CD's not due until August...probably because the CD duplicators don't want to work on it today.)

  • Theme To Dolphins Of Damnation

    03/06/2007

Our friend Ted Blegen (of Ants and Commuter Railway Blues fame) has made the big move to Los Angeles. This song was the theme we made for the sketch comedy group he was in called, The Dolphins of Damnation. They performed in and around Chicago and at Second City on many occasions. We wish Ted the best as he takes on Hollywood (though he's still Skyping songs into TheSongOfTheDay.com).

  • Pop Tarts And A Pack Of Smokes - Demo

    02/06/2007

This is the demo to the full-scale, alt-country rockin' version found on our debut album, What We've Got and the even crazier, tequila-powered version from our recent Beatnik Turtle Live album.
