Episode 47: The Year in Review (2020)
30/12/2020 Duración: 02h48minAnother year comes to a close, and boy what a year it was. Not in a good way, though that should go without saying. However, it seems like Stuart and Jacob continue to flourish and in fact grow despite the year itself! Throughout the course of this longer than average episode, Stuart and Jacob discuss varying aspects of the year, reviewing The Oscars (kind of), a few of the individuals that were lost, and they reflect on their favorite (and least favorite) films that they saw this past year. Happy Holidays and *hopefully* to a prosperous new year! ---------- Socials ---------- @ItRemade on Twitter @theyremadeit on Instagram theyremadeit@gmail.com

Episode 46: Aladdin (1992) and (2019)
23/12/2020 Duración: 01h53minFor the last traditional episode of 2020, Stuart and Jacob once more dive into the Disney vault to cover yet another of their animated classics and its live action counterpart. There is plenty to cover and the live action Aladdin had its share of criticisms and controversy. Does it hold up from an *attempted* objective viewing? Who knows. This episode also contains a thesis on what went wrong with Chicken Little, disturbing CGI, the conundrum of classic Disney villains, and the boys feel bad for a bird. Episode 45: Seven Chances (1925) and The Bachelor (1999)
02/12/2020 Duración: 01h34minBack at it again with the silent movies, but with a title featuring Buster Keaton, how could Stuart and Jacob refuse! The film was taken and remade a number of times, with one of the most recent interpretations being right before the turn of the century, replacing Keaton with Chris O'Donnell. Surprisingly, besides a more modern setting there are a lot more similarities between the two than there are differences. But don't worry, our hosts still have plenty to work with. This episode contains discussion of Kingdom Hearts (uh-oh!), Stuart's new D&D campaign, "Breckin Meyer energy", and a long detailed analysis on The Bachelor's version of the Bridal Run. Episode 44: It (1990), It (2017), and It Chapter Two (2019)
11/11/2020 Duración: 01h35minA late end to Halloween, but Stuart and Jacob are happy to provide. Especially with a couple of titles that actually spark some horror this time around. They compare one mini-series to a collection of more recent films that try to be scarier, and end up finding themselves at almost 9 hours of total watch time. However will they persevere? This episode contains discussion of the Tiny Toons reboot, unsettling CGI, using comedy as levity in horror, and try to decide at what point is a film just too long. Episode 43: Leprechaun (1993) and Leprechaun Returns (2018)
21/10/2020 Duración: 01h32minHalloween has officially begun early on They Remade It as it is finally the season for it, and therefore it is finally the time for some horror movies. And this time around, Jacob finally has gotten his way and the duo are covering some goofy horror from the early 90's and the franchise's most recent entry. Does this new sequel hold up compare to the rest of the films of the franchise? Do people actually care? This episode contains discussion of some Celtic mythology, the Doki Doki Effect, and deliberation over which Leprechaun actor is better at spouting one-liners. Stuart and Jacob even write a new joke for any upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street films. All this and more on They Remade It! Episode 42: Seven Samurai (1954) and The Magnificent Seven (1960)
30/09/2020 Duración: 01h57minToday, in an episode which both Stuart and Jacob agree should've been the season 3 finale, the Seven Samurai and its American counterpart The Magnificent Seven get compared. The direct link between samurai films and the American western are examined and in this case, the duo find out which does a better job at telling the same story. This episode contains discussion of the video game Control, test audiences, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and deliberation over when artistic integrity becomes compromised. Episode 41: The Devil and Daniel Webster (1941) and Shortcut to Happiness (2007)
09/09/2020 Duración: 01h13minIn another episode where Stuart almost wasn't able to obtain a copy of one of the films to be discussed, the duo talk about a couple of films based on the short story and stage play of the same name. If that does ring a bell, how about the classic Germanic tale of Faust. No? Ok, maybe the episode of The Simpson's where Homer goes to hell? Ok, now you get it. Well, two movies with that basic premise are being compared today. This episode contains discussion on more horror podcasts, The Devil and Daniel Mouse, whether these types of stories actually work, and Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Skull vodka. Episode 40: Tron (1982) and Tron: Legacy (2010)
02/09/2020 Duración: 01h14minIt's pretty much impossible to escape Disney's pull, as the company not only has acquired plenty of franchises to remake, reboot, and sequelize, but they've done it with their own content plenty over the past fifty years. So, Stuart and Jacob take a look at Tron and it's sequel that no one had really been expecting, Tron: Legacy. Both of these films are fairly infamous when you consider the money they pulled in compared to what their actual budgets were, but how do they actually fare according to these two? You'll find out soon enough! This episode contains talks on the new Kermit voice, blue lighting in sci-fi movies, odd CGI-ed young Jeff Bridges, and what could be the finale in the David Warner episode trilogy. Episode 39: Brewster's Millions (1945) and (1985)
05/08/2020 Duración: 01h26minThis time around Stuart and Jacob are tackling a suggested episode. At least for the concept, they ended up picking the two version of the film to watch. There are a lot of adaptations of the original Brewster's Millions source material, including a film older than the 1945 one being discussed today (although unfortunately that is considered to be lost). What isn't lost however is the willingness to take on new films they haven't seen before and then compare and criticize them as if they have any clue what they're actually doing. This episode contains more David Warner (somehow), the fantastic comedic time of Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson, copious amounts of baseball for some reason, and a horror podcast recommendation courtesy of Stuart. Episode 38: Inglorious Bastards (1978) and Inglourious Basterds (2009)
15/07/2020 Duración: 01h27minDid you know that Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds is a remake? Well, technically it isn't and is more so just a borrowed title, but both films have Nazis and that sure is something. Is there any possible way that the 1978 film with the original correctly spelled title of Inglorious Bastards can live up to something created by a director both Stuart and Jacob admire? We'll have to see what exactly it has in store. This episode contains talks on the passing of Carl Reiner, poor ADR, a quick lesson on diegetic vs. non-diegetic sound, and the Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe. All this and more on They Remade It! Episode 37: Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2001) and Tomb Raider (2018)
24/06/2020 Duración: 01h12minIt's official, the lockdown has driven both Stuart and Jacob so mad that, even with all their perceived downtime, they barely watched anything between this and the last episode. Its okay though, as they both have been dying to talk about these two movies from a franchise whose games they are only familiar with in the loosest sense of the words. How do they compare to one another and does the original still hold up today? And finally, will either of these films get the duo to actually play games from the franchise. Probably not, but I'm sure we'll see. This episode contains talks on corniness in films, April Winchell, how convoluted is too convoluted, and a description of the world's easiest dungeon to ever exist. Episode 36: The Italian Job (1929) and (2003)
10/06/2020 Duración: 01h44minAt Stuart's request, the duo return to another series of heist films nearly two years after their original look at the Ocean's Eleven films. And what a return to this form, as one film has the presence of Sir Michael Caine and the other has a variety of name actors in its own right. Tons of stunt driving and gold pilfering abound in this episode. This episode contains talks on a series all about Disney Imagineering, some Napster information, the Self-Preservation Society, and why Benny Hill was even in the 1969 film at all. Episode 35: Metropolis (1927) and (2001)
06/05/2020 Duración: 01h46minTo compensate for the headache that was editing Hellboy (thank Jacob and his hellish audio), this podcast comes a bit sooner than usual. After this its back to the routine schedule! Jacob is always looking for an excuse to talk about Japanese animated films, but the remakes are much scarcer under that criteria. Boy did he stumble across the motherload today, as the duo talk about a German piece that inspired generations and its 2001 anime counterpart. Could it even be possible to hate either of these? This episode contains some talk about podcasts and video games (on a movie podcast?), the twisted architecture of F. W. Murnau, jazzy tunes, and an immense love for Hamegg! Episode 34: Hellboy (2004) and (2019)
22/04/2020 Duración: 01h32minFirstly, let it be known that this one was delayed so that Jacob could fix his audio to the best of his ability as his microphone broke down on him (and in the middle of a quarantine, no less). There is an echo as well later on in the episode but it fades after some time, apologies for the inconvenience. All that aside, the boys are tackling a more recent movie, one that came out just last year in fact, and comparing it to the first theatrical interpretation of the Hellboy source material done by Guillermo del Toro no less. Is the new adaptation more faithful to the original source material? No idea, neither of our hosts have read the comics! This episode contains Disney's lack of care for Cinderella, a quick game of Lovecraft or not Lovecraft, Jeffery Tambor (uh-oh!), and ponderings on the importance of Lobster Johnson! Episode 33: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and Rat Race (2001)
25/03/2020 Duración: 01h36minThe boys are tackling two films with all-star casts this time around (debatable in regards to the latter), and Stuart and Jacob need to decide whether that means a film is inherently good or not. Chances are, that answer will be no. Also be known that in this episode we have the longest Full Circle to date, so be prepared for that! This episode contains Sonic talk, discussion on the disappearance of famous personalities, how chaotic is too chaotic in film, and of course... Hitler's car! All this and more on They Remade It! Episode 32: Beauty and the Beast (1991) and (2017)
26/02/2020 Duración: 01h32minIn what is officially the fourth Disney Animated Masterpiece being covered on this very podcast, Stuart and Jacob look at 1991 Best Picture nominee Beauty and the Beast and its 2017 remake of the same name. Does the reputation of the terrible live-action remake ring true with one of Disney's most beloved classics? The boys are gonna find out! This episode contains a brief discussion on the Oscars (primarily Parasite), celebrate the brilliance of Sir Ian McKellen, whether or not over-designing is inherently awful, and the true meaning of Ohana. Episode 31: The Muppet Movie (1979) and The Muppets (2011)
05/02/2020 Duración: 01h36minIt's season 3, and it's starting off right with laughs and japes as the duo discuss the first Muppet film and compare it to the franchise's big comeback in 2011. And with the episode comes the perfect test case, as Stuart has little to no prior knowledge of the history of the characters before this. Well, besides Muppet Christmas Carol, and really who doesn't love that film? This episode has discussion on The Muppets as a franchise, the current relevance of Green Eggs & Ham, Michael Caine's wonderful turn as Ebeneezer Scrooge, and Jacob's apparent hatred for Lew Zealand. Episode 30: The Year in Review (2019)
31/12/2019 Duración: 02h42minAnother year comes to a close, and the duo are attempting to look back fondly on this previous decade. Well, not necessarily in the episode as that is primarily focused on 2019, but they are being positive. And why wouldn't they? 2019 marked new jobs for the both of them and a big move for Stuart! Throughout the course of this longer than average episode, Stuart and Jacob discuss varying aspects of the year, reviewing The Oscars, a few of the individuals that were lost, and they reflect on their favorite (and least favorite) films that they saw this past year. Episode 29: The Godfather Trilogy (1972), (1974), and (1990)
27/12/2019 Duración: 02h25minDue to a rendering issue that pushed the release of this episode back two days, this episode is releasing a little late. But better late than never as some schmuck once said. Neither Stuart nor Jacob had seen any of the Godfather movies in full up to this point, and they decided to rectify that! This, of course, is to varying results. What can be said about these films that hasn't already been said? As it turns out, not much, but they did it anyways! This episode has discussion on Disney+, Sofia Coppola's acting decisions, Robert De Niro's delightful turn as a young Vito Corleone, and the Part IV to the series that only kinda/sorta happened. Episode 28: The Omen (1976) and (2006)
06/11/2019 Duración: 01h37minClosing out the month of October, or perhaps the beginning of November, is another horror/thriller film that had Stuart and Jacob pleasantly surprised. Whereas last year they only got to do one "Halloween movie", this time around they get to tackle a second. And of course it had to be on a film that has both Atticus Finch himself AND the irreplaceable David Warner. Though, both boys agree that maybe the latter should've gone with a different hairstyle. This episode has talks on Spielberg's library of films (again), the Dumbledore Cycle, some disdain for jump-scares, and Jacob's ever changing opinion on The Criterion Collection.
