Later the inspiration for the book/movie ROOM, this bizarre, horrific tale is about Elisabeth Fritzl’s mysterious disappearance in 1984. A few years later, her children began showing up on her parents’ doorstep with letters pleading for them to raise the children as their own. Elisabeth, herself, reappeared in 2008 only to give unexpected and unimaginable details about her previous whereabouts. Mariangela is back, baby! On a sunny August day in 2003, Brian Wells walked into a PNC bank in Erie, PA with a bomb strapped to his neck and handed the teller a note demanding $250,000. The aftermath shocked the world. Sarah brings us down south with the unsolved Texarkana Moonlight Murders. In the Spring of 1946, a string of brutal attacks and murders rocked the border town between Texas and Arkansas. Our thirteenth episode is loaded with laughs and spookerie. Stephanie starts us off with a little bit of information on Shepherdstown, WV. Allegedly the entire town is plagued with phantoms, bumps in the night, knocks on the door, dishes being smashed, and other classic ghost behavior. The police chief reached out to paranormal investigators and now the town has its own show. Sarah follows with the hauntings experienced by the Smurl family right here in Pennsylvania. If the torture they endured at the hands of the spirits in their home weren’t enough, media attention brought more troubles that followed them long after. This week’s episode makes a lot of jokes and dumps a lot of information. The girls reach into the bowels of the Internet for some deep, dark, dank stories about ghosts, disappearances, and some puns about going #2. (Did you see the stealthier ones at the beginning of this description?) Sarah tells us about the Ridges, formerly known as the Athens Lunatic Asylum. While many claim to see ghosts walking the halls, perhaps the eeriest thing to be found is the incredibly real, very visible stain left by the body of Margaret Schilling. Stephanie reads us an article from 1978 about the Disappearance of Gary Mathias, sometimes referred to as the American Dyatlov Pass Incident. Five healthy, strong young men abandoned their car in the mountains of Northern California. Four were found dead under mysterious circumstances. The fifth was never found at all. This week's episode is the big 1-0! The girls hold no punches, bringing you fun and fear rolled into an excellent hour for your listening entertainment. Stephanie starts us off with a little bit of folklore from South of the border. It's the Mexican legend of La Llorona, the Weeping Woman. She tells you some differences between the lore and the famous folk song, followed by her rendition. (She sings! In Spanish!) Keeping to Latin America; Sarah tells us the incredible true story of the Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571. In 1972, a plane carrying 40 people from Montevideo, Uruguay to Santiago, Chile crashed in the Andes Mountain. Twenty-eight people survived the initial crash. Sixteen people made it home alive.
