Even in 2021, not every family is a fully safe space for coming out. In this conversation, our student minister Frances Kitson speaks with a young woman studying for ministry who is not fully out to her conservative Christian family. Listen to her thoughts on why Pride is important to Christians, what it's like to be told "Love the sinner, hate the sin," and all the many needs that Pride celebrations fill.

Allison Sarauer is a lifelong member of the United Church, and lives in a small town in central Saskatchewan. At the age of 15, her youngest child came out to Allison and her husband as non-binary. Hear Allison reflect on what that experience has taught her, how celebrating Pride intersects with her faith, and what becoming an Affirming congregation is all about.

Cpl Rielly Knock is an RMCP officer who serves in the Warman detachment. He also happens to be trans. Join our student minister, Frances Kitson, as she finds out what Pride means to Rielly, what it was like to come out and transition while an RCMP officer, and what it means to him to see a Pride flag flying from a church.

Why does Pride matter? Why still celebrate Pride in 2021? Why do some churches fly Pride flags? What do we do when we want to be supportive but feel uncomfortable around Pride? The Rev Cathy Coates talks about all this and more in conversation with our student minister, Frances Kitson.
