Thanks Nachum! Chag Sameach everyone! We are in the home stretch of the Winter Sports season! Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, the first pieces of gold have already been awarded in Girls Basketball, Hockey will do the same this Sunday and Boys Basketball will follow suit, but not before two high-level semifinal matchups. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. Girls JV and Varsity Basketball are the first to complete their seasons and crown queens of the court. In JV, Frisch topped SAR 48-40, finishing off a perfect season to take home the first of the fall championships. Their older sister Cougars, however, could not do the same. The SKA Sonics completed their perfect season, knocking off Frisch 62-52 behind 31 points from Sophomore Daphna Steinmetz. The Sonics, more used to hanging B Division banners have now earned an "A" League championship to accompany the last banner raised in 2019. The next set of championships

Thanks Nachum! The days are ticking down to the 2022-2023 Winter finals and two matchups are already set. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, JV Hockey and JV Girls basketball are gearing up for their big games, Varsity hockey and Varsity Girls Basketball will get there tomorrow night and JV and Varsity Boys basketball will take their time as their final is almost three weeks away. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. JV Hockey is the first boys league to have its championship matchup set. The 2023 final will feature the same teams as the 2022 final, the TABC Storm and DRS Wildcats. The Storm reached the big game by upending North Shore, 8-1. For DRS, the road was a bit more treacherous. The Wildcats took on SAR last night, following the Sting's 7-3 thrashing of Flatbush in the quarters and for most of the game looked as if they were primed for an upset. However, three goals in the final 6 minutes of the game would spell the downfall for t

Thanks Nachum! Playoff action has hit a fever pitch as every postseason has reached at least the Quarterfinal stage. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, a freshman powers Flatbush over HAFTR in Varsity Basketball, the semifinals are set in Girls Varsity Basketball and in JV Hockey, a battle "for pride" and, no...we're not "Lyin". All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg Varsity and JV Hockey each had one game played this week, both 1 goal affairs. In TABC, the #1 seeded Storm survived a scare against 8th seed Kushner, defeating the Cobras in Teaneck, but it did not come easy. Tied 1-1 until the 2 minute mark of the third, Storm Junior Shay Fields netted the go-ahead and game-winning goal. In dramatic fashion, the Storm would need to kill off a late Kushner powerplay, but did so and will now await the winner of tomorrow night's contest between #4 YDE and #5 SAR, in Brooklyn. The other contest tomorrow night will feature the 5-Towns rivalry with

Thanks Nachum! The playoffs are upon us as we count down the days until we crown our 2022-2023 Winter Sports champions. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, first round matchups are under way in almost all leagues. We'll take you through a heavy week in basketball and a light week in hockey, but both equally impactful. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start off in Boys Varsity Basketball, which saw the most action over the past week. Six matchups took place Tuesday night to determine the final seedings. North Shore defeated DRS 55-34 to finish undefeated at 14-0 and take the top seed in the East. Unfortunately for DRS, Magen David took an 11 point win over TABC, meaning that the Warriors would take the East #2 seed while DRS would have to play a first-round matchup. The Wildcats squared off with East #6 Waterbury, defeating them 49-37 to advance to play the West #2 seed, the SAR Sting. SAR earned the West #2 seed by virtue of TABC

Thanks Nachum! After four long months of competition, we have finally reached the last day of the regular season for the 2022-2023 Winter Sports year. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, top seeds in Varsity Basketball's East and West find their fates intertwined, JV Basketball has their bracket figured out, and Varsity and JV hockey all come down to one final game to cement the playoff picture. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. In Boys Varsity Basketball, North Shore clinches the East crown, taking wins over HAFTR and Magen David. The Lions will know tonight who will join them as an East bye as both DRS and Magen David are in action. DRS will need a win over North Shore or a Magen David loss to TABC to clinch the East #2 seed. It's been a rough week for Magen David, also losing to SAR to drop to 9-4 taking their ability to clinch a bye on their own out of their hands. SAR will also be at the mercy of another team to determine what thei

Thanks Nachum! With everyone back from winter break, the next two weeks become the most action-packed and intense of the season. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, TABC pulls the JV double as both hockey and basketball clinch the West top seeds, and the Varsity Basketball West gets thrown wide open as the clinching window slams shut. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start off in JV Hockey where the West crown was decided this past week following a pair of TABC wins over Frisch and SAR. The 4-1 win over SAR, the more important of the two games as it put the Storm out of reach of the Sting, who will finish 2nd in the West at 8-2. As a result, TABC has also clinched the #1 overall seed in the upcoming playoffs and will leave the DRS-North Shore battle on Thursday night to decide the #2 seed, but also the 3 and the 4 seed as both teams and SAR can shift depending on the outcome. The 4-0 win over Frisch served to put Frisch's season

Thanks Nachum! As winter break rolls on, a handful of games are on the slate that will kick off the final weeks of the Winter sports regular season. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, we set the stage for the stretch run in basketball and hockey. All that and more, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We’ll start off with the largest slate of the last 2 weeks, Varsity Basketball. North Shore took another step toward the East crown, taking a 40-30 win off Waterbury to improve to 11-0 on the season. The Lions hold a two game lead on Magen David with three games to play. Waterbury would rebound with a win over Magen Abraham to even their record at 6-6 and put them on the brink of a playoff berth. A Waterbury win or YDE loss will give the Wolfpack the 6th and final East spot. Out West, MTA downed Kushner 46-33 behind 17 points from Gavriel Rudman. The West also has one spot left up for grabs, but can be taken care of with a JEC win or Ohr Yisroel loss. T

Good morning everyone and a happy 2023! Today on the first Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update of the calendar year, TABC varsity hockey begins the year the same way last year ended, DRS varsity basketball puts the pressure on the East with a 3-spot and Hillel enters the conversation in JV Basketball. All that and more, straight ahead, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start out in Varsity Hockey where the start of 2023 turned out to be a continuation of 2022 for the newly minted team to beat, the TABC Storm. Within a week and a half, TABC has taken control of the West and the league, knocking off Frisch and DRS. The Storm completed the sweep of their 2022 finals nemesis Cougars by the score of 5-3 behind a hat trick from senior Eitan Adler. They would then follow that up with a 6-2 drubbing of the Wildcats behind two goals apiece from senior Eli Altman and Junior Shay Fields. As a result, TABC is 10-1, but currently sit one point behind Frisch, who have 21 points, by vir

Thanks Mattes! Today on the last Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update of 2022, a light week that passed sets up a huge week ahead on all fronts as we expect the first sets of many playoff tickets to be punched before the turn of the calendar. We'll take you through it all, straight ahead, good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. Only 10 games were played this last week, three of them in total on the hockey court but two major results that prove interesting for 2023. In Varsity, YDE continued their impressive season, knocking off Kushner, 6-4. Joe Dweck scored twice for the Thunder in their 8th win of the season. The Kushner loss officially clinches a playoff berth for Frisch ahead of their rematch with TABC tomorrow night in TABC. YDE can become the next team with a win over HAFTR on Thursday and a little help from Magen David, HANC and North Shore in their matchups this coming week. Speaking of HANC, the Hurricanes jumped to 11 points with a win over Solomon Schechter, two behind DRS

Good Morning Nachum. Today on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, the Route-4 Rivalry gets special showcase in Hockey and Basketball, SKA's claim in Girls Varsity Basketball gets stronger, and the playoff race heats up in JV Hockey. All that and more, straight ahead. Chag Sameach, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start off with Varsity Basketball, where, while the East awaits their marquee matchup this coming week between North Shore and Magen David, the West had their top rivalry, TABC and Frisch on the docket on Saturday night, with both teams looking to put a dent in the other's chances to vie for the division. Earlier in the season, the Cougars walked away with a 13 point victory, meaning that a sweep would all but end TABC's chances in the West and leave them to battle for a quarterfinal matchup. However, the home team would not cooperate as Netanel Benloulou's 30 points catapulted TABC to a 55-44 win, bringing TABC to 8-2 and keeping them in the mix as we head toward the ba

Good Morning Nachum and Mazal Tov to you and your family. Today on the JM in the AM Sports Update, after a very eventful week in the Weiselberg household, a one-day delay only adds to our coverage. Straight ahead, SAR returns to the conversation in Varsity Hockey, Magen David and North Shore get ready for a showdown in Boys Varsity Basketball, and SAR and TABC continue their undefeated seasons in both JV sports. All that and more, straight ahead. Good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start out in Varsity Basketball where North Shore finds itself in a very unfamiliar position over the last few years. Hot off of last year's JV championship the Junior-heavy squad rolls into mid-December at 8-0, despite a scare against Magen Abraham this past week, a 56-52 Overtime win for the Stars. Now, North Shore gears up to square off against the other Magen, the 8-1 Magen David Warriors, a squad full of Juniors still stinging from last year's overtime championship loss. The Warriors have a battle-

Good Morning Nachum!   Today on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update Cross-conference matchups highlight the week in Varsity Hockey, while intra conference rivalries take center stage in Boys Varsity Basketball and Frisch and SKA stay hot in Girls Varsity Basketball. All that and more straight ahead. Good Morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll open up with Girls Varsity Basketball where Frisch and SKA have opened up identical 5-0 records to lead the West and East respectively. The Cougars take a 2 game lead in their division picking up wins over 2nd place SAR by 4 and 3rd place Maayanot by 11, while the Sonics have the upper hand over 4-1 Flatbush, handing them their first loss 51-37. Flatbush will get the chance to rebound this coming Saturday night when they play HAFTR. The Hawks have won 4 in a row since dropping their season opener to SKA, taking 3 of those wins, over Central, North Shore and Solomon Schecter in the last week. In Boys Varsity, rivalries

Good Morning Everyone! Today on the inaugural Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update of the 2022-2023 sports season, the action has already kicked into high gear in all leagues and we'll bring you up to speed on the opening month of the Winter Sports season. All that and more straight ahead. Good Morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start out in JV Hockey where three teams remain undefeated. DRS has breezed through their first 5 games, defeating all divisional opponents, including a dominant victory over Rambam, last night. The Wildcats will play two games in early December before a championship rematch with TABC on New Year's Day. Out in the West, The Storm, themselves remain undefeated at 3-0, but are joined by a resurgent SAR team, who has already taken on one challenge, defeating Flatbush 3-1 in a rematch of the pre-season Martin Weiselberg Memorial tournament championship. Also in the thick of things out west are MTA and Ohr Yisroel, both with 2 wins as the season heads toward the ha

    28/06/2022

Thanks Nachum! Good morning everyone! Today on an abbreviated Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, we wrap up the 2021-2022 sports season. I'm Elliot Weiselberg. This past week saw two of the remaining three finals played. Indoors, 4th seeded SAR walked away with their first Boys Volleyball championship since 2014 sweeping North Shore 3 sets to none. For SAR, it was the 2nd time in a little over a month facing and sweeping the 2nd seed Stars, having done so in their final game of the regular season. SAR represents North Shore's only 2 losses on the year, with this one resulting in the culmination of the playoffs. Outdoors, Frisch's girls tennis team won the final girls championship of the 2022 Spring season, defeating Flatbush 3-2. The result underscores the matchup as both teams were undefeated heading into the contest, both having yielded less than 10 individual matches on the season. Frisch finishes with 7, while Flatbush's hopes were dashed with their 10th. This leaves one champ

Thanks Nachum! We are almost at the end of the line for the 2021-2022 School year. Several more leagues wrapped up this past week, including Girls Hockey, Boys JV Soccer, Boys Tennis and Boys and Girls Softball and Baseball. We'll take you through those and let you know what's on tap for the final week straight ahead on this Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. Congratulations go out to the SAR Sting girls hockey team on a dominant 5-0 win over Heschel. Five different Sting scorers contributed, including game MVP Zoe From. With the win, the Sting become the first Eastern division team to win a girls hockey championship since 2003. The loss breaks Heschel's grip on the league crown since 2018. It was not as positive for the boys JV Soccer and Girls Softball Sting, though, as in soccer they fell to Frisch 10-2 in the championship and softball dropped the final to Ma'ayanot 10-1. For the Cougars, it makes 3 out of 4 soccer finals won by Frisch in the Boys, Vars

Thanks Nachum! Today on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, Frisch sees plenty of soccer action, and plenty of soccer gold and results from the 2022 Martin Weiselberg Memorial Junior High hockey tournament. All that and more straight ahead, good morning I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start off in soccer where Frisch has taken home 2 of the 3 championships that have already been decided. The Boys Varsity team capped off a perfect season with a 12-5 drubbing of SAR for what essentially is their 2nd consecutive championship, having won the last championship in 2019. Joining them are the JV Girls Cougars who doubled up Ma'ayanot 8-4 for their first championship since the 2016-17 season, where they also topped the Rapids in the finals. The JV Boys will square off with SAR tonight at JEC. Unfortunately for the Girls Varsity team, the chance for a Frisch sweep ended with a semifinal loss to SAR. The Sting would not be so fortunate in the championship, though, falling 12-5 to Kushner.

Thanks Nachum! Straight ahead on the Tuesday JM in the AM Sports Update, the Frisch Cougars look to dominate the soccer world, the playoffs are set in baseball and softball, and a spring update with boys hockey results in it?? What could that be? Keep listening to find out. Good morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. We'll start off in soccer, where the Frisch Cougars will have the chance for an unprecedented feat. The Frisch Boys Varsity team advanced to the finals after a dominant win over North Shore and now await the winner of SAR and TABC. SAR advanced to the semis with an impressive 11-8 victory over Kushner, led by 8 goals from junior Gabe Sklar. Ironically, the bracket in Boys JV is exactly the same, the JV Cougars knocked off North Shore 9-6 and now await the winner of TABC and SAR JV taking place tomorrow night in TABC. Frisch's JV Girls were the top seed and earned a bye to the finals where they will face Ma-ayanot, 10-2 winners over Kushner in their semis. That leaves the girls varsity squad w

Good Morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. Starting out in Girls Hockey where the Heschel Heat have a familiar result, a shutout. The Heat defeated the HAFTR Hawks in their quarterfinal matchup in the City last night by the score of 4-0. On the season, of Heschel's 9 games played, 8 of them ended in either a shutout win or a shutout loss, including a season opening 1-0 win over the team they beat last night and a 2-0 win over the team they will advance to face, the #2 overall seed Ramaz Rams, in a rematch of the two teams to face in the last championship. The other quarterfinal will see Frisch travel to Kushner with the winner to face off against #1 seed SAR. Moving over to Boys Varsity Soccer where one semifinal is already set. Good Morning Nachum! The Indoor Spring Regular Season has come to a conclusion. Straight ahead on the Tuesday Morning JM in the AM Sports Update, we'll give you the rundown of the final week and catch you up on what the postseasons have in store. Good Morning, I'm Elliot Weiselberg. In Girls Hockey, the Ramaz Rams and SAR Sting have won the West and East divisions, respectively. SAR clinched the top spot by virtue of a 3-2 overtime win over HAFTR this past week to leave HAFTR squarely in 2nd. The Rams also needed overtime, but would wind up in a 0-0 tie with Kushner as both teams gear up for the playoffs. Joining those 4 will be Heschel who will host HAFTR and Frisch who will travel to face Kushner. The Ramaz Boys Volleyball team will also enjoy a bye, taking the regular season crown after SAR defeated North Shore in straight sets last night. Ramaz finishes undefeated at 8-0 with North Shore right behind them in 2nd place. North Shore already knows who their semifinals opponent will be as Flatb
