The Red Sox dropped their 4th straight game with a disappointing 9-8, 12-inning loss the Colorado Rockies Monday night at Coors Field.Ezequiel Tovar knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th with a bases loaded single off of Chase Anderson.The Rockies scored 2 runs in the 12th after the Red Sox took the lead in the top of the inning on a 2-out RBI single off the bat of Wilyer Abreu.   The Sox are 0-4 on their current road trip.Red Sox came from behind twice in the game and didn't take their 1st lead of the game until the top of the 10th inning.  Tanner Houck made the start and gave up 4 runs (4 ER) in the 3rd inning, but that was it.  Charlie Blackmon hit a 2-run Home Run to get the Rockies on the board and 5 straight hitters reached and 4 runs scored before Houck was able to record an out.The Red Sox got all 4 runs back against Austin Gomber in the 5th inning.  Jamie Westbrook got the Red Sox to within a run with a 3-run Home Run.  Jarren Duran followed with a triple, his 11th on the year and firs

The Red Sox were swept in a 3-game series in Los Angels by the Dodgers after losing the finale, 9-6, on Sunday night.  It's the 3rd time this season where the Sox have been swept in a series and the second time on the road.The Red Sox led 2-0 against James Paxton and the Dodgers 3 pitches into the game.  Romy Gonzalez attacked the first pitch of the game and doubled to left field.  Jarren Duran took an 0-1 pitch from Paxton and hit a 2-run Home Run to left.  It was Duran's 2nd homer of the series and 12th on the season.The Dodgers scored 2 runs with 2 outs off of Kutter Crawford in the bottom of the 1st inning.  Freddie Freeman made it 2-1 with a solo Home Run, his 2nd of the series.  Gavin Lux, 2 hitters later, tied the game at 2 with a double.  The Dodgers played Home Run Derby against Crawford over the next 4 innings.Teoscar Hernandez gave the Dodgers a 3-2 lead with a solo Home Run in the 3rd.  Gavin Lux hit a solo HR in the 4th.  Austin Barnes and Shohei Ohtani hit solo shots in the 5th.  Ohtani's Home R

Lead changes, Ties, Blow Saves, Extra Innings and a whole lot more at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night.  In the end, the Dodgers walked off with a 7-6 win in the bottom of the 11th inning over the Red Sox.  The Dodgers will have an opportunity to complete the series sweep on Sunday night.  Will Smith delivered the game-winning hit with a 1-out single in the 11th off of reliever Greg Weissert. Kenley Jansen took the mound with a 1-run lead in the bottom of the 9th and promptly gave up a game-tying home run to former Red Sox Kike Hernandez.  Jansen was able to get Freddie Freeman on a pop up later in the inning to strand 2 runners on base and send the game to extra-innings. The Red Sox opened up a 6-game road trip after the All-Star break with the first of 3 against the Dodgers Friday night at Dodger Stadium and lost a 4-1 decision.  The Red Sox led 1-0 going to the bottom of the 8th inning, but Freddie Freeman gave LA its first lead, hitting a grand slam off reiever Brennan Bernardino.  Nick Pivetta turned in a strong performance, and exited with a 1-0 lead, but he ended up with a no-decision.  Pivetta gave up just 2 hits in tossing 6 innings of shutout baseball.  He walked only 1 and struck out 8, including Shohei Ohtani 3 times.    Jarren Duran, coming off being named as the Ted Williams MVP at the All-Star Game Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas, got the Red Sox on the board with a solo Home Run in the 5th inning.  It came off Dodgers starting pitcher Gavin Stone and was his 11th of the season.  It would turn out to be the only run of the night for the Sox against Stone and 4 relievers.    Zack Kelly worked around a walk in tossing a scoreless 7th inning.  Kelly walked the le

The Red Sox go into the All-Star Break a season-high 11 games over .500 with Sunday's 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals.  Sox dropped the opener Friday night, won the next two and have won 4 straight series.  The Sox were down 1-0 just four pitches into the game with Brayan Bello giving up a home run to the Royals leadoff hitter, Adam Frazier.  Bello responded nicely but retiring the next 3 hitters.  Bello allowed a single to Hunter Renfroe in the 2nd inning, but he was thrown out at 2nd by left-fielder Tyler O'Neill trying to stretch a single into a double.  Rafael Devers gave the Red Sox their first lead of the afternoon with a 2-out, 2-run Home Run in the bottom of the 1st inning off of starting pitcher Brady Singer.  It was Dever's 2nd home run of the series and 23rd on the year.  Dominic Smith made it 4-1 with a 2-run Home Run in the 2nd inning. The Red Sox got another strong pitching performance from Kutter Crawford and Dominic Smith collected 2 hits and a pair of RBIs in helping the Red Sox to a 5-0 win over the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Sox even the series up at 1-1 and will go for the series in the final game before the All-Star Break on Sunday.Red Sox table setters Jarren Duran and David Hamilton got things going in the home first inning against Seth Lugo, but the Sox failed to score.  Duran doubled to get things going and Hamilton walked but they were stranded at 2nd and 3rd.  The Sox broke through in the 2nd against Lugo.  Smith reached with a 1-out single and scored all the way from 1st on a double from Reese McGuire.  In the 3rd inning, the Red Sox scored 3 more runs against Lugo.  Wilyer Abreu with a ground-run double and that plated Masa Yoshida.  Smith then made it 4-0 with a 2-run single.  Rafael Devers hit his 22nd home run of the season in the 5th inning and that made it 5-0.  Crawford imp

The Red Sox had opportunities at home at Fenway Wednesday night against the Oakland A's but came up short in losing, 5-2. Series is even at 1-1 with the finale Thursday night. Nick Pivetta, who struck out 8 straight batter at one point and finished with 10 strikeouts, allowed 4 earned runs and he was tagged with the loss. All 4 runs that the A's scored against Pivetta (3 in the 3rd and 1 in the 7th) came with 2 outs in the inning. Sox left the bases loaded in the 1st inning against winning pitcher JP Sears, who allowed a solo Home Run to Rob Refsnyder in the 6th inning and that was it over 5.2 innings of work. The Red Sox scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning and the first 10 outs recorded by starting pitcher Brayan Bello were via the strikeout Tuesday night in a series-opening 12-9 win over the Oakland A's at Fenway Park. Bello gave up 2 runs in the first inning, but also struck out 3 in his first inning of work. The A's lead was short-lived.
