  • Booked #50 - Extraterrestrial Storage Wars

    16/04/2015 Duración: 28min

This week for a brand new Booked Stevil goes solo as he chats with Wes Locher, the creator and writer of Unit 44, a new comic about a couple of bumbling Area 51 agents who forget to pay the rent on a storage space filled with secret contents and is subsequently sold to some rednecks at a public auction. Stevil and Wes chat about the inception of the idea, stemmed from Wes's own fascination with aliens possible existence, the instant gratification of collaborating with artist Ed Jimenez and the style choice of comedy over the usual dark and gritty. Wes also fills Stevil in on the great freedom creating your own independent comic in the new digital landscape. Unit 44 is available now on Comixology and can also be found on Wes and Ed's website.

  • Booked #48 - Being Nelly

    26/02/2015 Duración: 53min

The Stevil Dead and Rob Lobster have an absolute metric buttload of DC Comics talk this week from the Booked-Cave, as a big announcement came regarding the future of the massive publishing company after the Convergence event. This is the end of the New 52! so what's to come after? Don't worry, Rob's got the list of what will be coming to your favorite comic shop! The guys also have the full roster of which DC characters will be gracing the small screen for TNT's upcoming adaptation Titans. Will this be a team we recognize? With Robin/Nightwing leading the team, will we see Batman in this? Which incarnation of Starfire/Princess Koriand'r will we see and in how much/little clothing? She got a little "promiscuous" in the New 52 and destroyed some of the feelings we had of the Teen Titans. Also, Superman has new powers? Is the big blue Boy Scout able to go "Super Saiyan" now? With the reveal of the Kryptonians new super flare ability, the boys discuss whether this will benefit the character or is only a short-ter

  • Booked #47 - Cake Salad

    06/02/2015 Duración: 01h01min

Booked returns for their first podcast in the brand new year of 2015! Rob Lobster and The Stevil Dead have some thoughts on the upcoming Secret Wars Marvel event, as well as DC Comics Convergence! How do these two massive events stack up against each other. How long has Jonathan Hickman, Axel Alonso and Tom Brevoort been planning this giant, universe ending epic? Does the DC Comics  office shifting Convergence event have the same kind of weigh behind it as Marvel does? Will any of the small miniseries being released during this have any lasting effect on the continuing New 52 universe? Then Stevil and Rob give you their favorite books of 2014. Ranging from teenage superheroes to Gods walking amongst us, they cover the bases of what you may have missed this year. Finishing off with what has them waiting outside their comic shops, the boys of Booked also have many unconvention books for you put on your pre order list in the next coming months. • Booked #46 - The League of Comic-Philes

    06/01/2015 Duración: 01h05min

Recorded before Christmas Booked has a lot of comic movie and TV casting and news for you, as Stevil is joined by original Booked co-founder Jenosaur! Yes, it's a wonderful and warm reunion filled with, well, everything else that the League covers. No worries though, Stevil tries to tie it all back to comics. Stevil gets to ask Jenosaur, a PS4 owner, if she's seen any ads for Powers on the Playstation Network, if there's a release date and if we're going to get them week to week or binge style like Netflix. They also geek out over the Michele Forbes/Retro Girl and Eddie Izzard production photos   Then they get into some good, bad and ugly talk of casting confirmations, rumors and plot rundowns floating around on the net. What's going on with Fantastic Four dumb plot outline? Are all the castings in Suicide Squad ones we can get behind? How hopeful are we for a well done DC cinematic universe now that we have confirmations for the Wonder Woman film?   The cast is ended with a special thank you to AMC for cont

  • Booked #45 - You're a Dipthong

    10/12/2014 Duración: 01h08min

Over a year ago, we had the great pleasure of having one of my favorite artists Michael Avon Oeming on our show. At the time his book The Victories had just released it's first trade paperback, Powers Bureau was in it's first few issues and we also got some great stories from the FX pilot for Powers that never was.   Well, this week on Booked, Mike returns along with Taki Soma to talk with me (The Stevil Dead). A lot of new stuff to talk about as Mike and Taki have just released their first issue of their new book wit Image Comics, Sinergy, a bad ass demon hunter book. I ask them how the idea for the book came about and how the experience differed from working with Taki to working with Brian Michael Bendis on Powers or Bryan Glass on Mice Templar. We also get into the age old question of who would be on their zombie survival routine.   I also asked every question I could think of pertaining to the December release of the Playstation Network's first ever TV show, Powers. How does it differ from the FX pilot?

  • Booked #44 - Keanu Reeves, Dream Bestie

    25/11/2014 Duración: 01h07min

For a comic fans, this slate of up coming movies from now until 2020 is a pretty insane treat, whether the movies turn out great or not. The sheer notion that we get to see some of our favourite characters and stories come to life on the big screen is something our younger selves couldn't even dream of. Between the big two giants we have over 20 movies and that only counts the DC Warner and Marvel Studios owned movies. That's mind blowing!   Unfortunately one company has been pretty consistent in giving us possibly the greatest comic films of all time, while the other has muddied up their waters with absolute cinematic blunders, rushed and confused franchise building and that "no jokes rule" rumour painted a pretty cold picture. Yes, it's no contest the Marvel has decimated its competitor DC/Legendary, a company that is so seemingly desperate to have what Marvel has going, that they fast tracked an expansive universe on the back of a seriously flawed film.   On our newest episode, Stevil, Rob and J.J. Webb

  • Booked #43 - Unfriended on Your Birthday

    19/11/2014 Duración: 45min

Ben Morse, editor at Marvel.com and, best of all, friend of Booked, returns to gives us a rundown of the happenings at New York Comic Con and we try to pry a bit at some of the interesting events that were announced. The key word there is try. After having missed San Diego Comic Con, Ben tells us about getting used to the Con feeling and energy again, especially with Marvel hitting big the day before in Times Square with Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. Not only did legends like Kurt Busiek show up but we got the monster announcement of Secret Wars hitting Summer next year. Did we get Ben to give us some teasers? No, no, we did not. Ben likes having his job at Marvel a little too much and we can appreciate. We also discuss some of the other events in 2015 like Civil War, Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies and Planet Hulk where we get a team up with Captain America as they fight Hulks with Tom Selleck mustaches? We also have some current Marvel talk as Ben informs us of how awesome Secret Avengers writer Ales Kot is, tea

  • Booked #42 - Because Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

    05/11/2014 Duración: 01h09min

A few months back Jenosaur and I (Stevil) were invited to do a panel at the North West Fan Fest by our friend Casey White of ShogunGamer.com, to talk about pop culture's effect on today's media, so basically comics, comics and more comics. On this panel I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron Golden, co-founder of Living Myth Magazine and writer of the column 'God of Comics' and honestly, I don't know why it took so long to have him on the show. His story of Warren Ellis pitching Next Wave to Marvel solidified his spot in the guest chair alone.   I had the chance to chat with Aaron over Skype and we settled into some pretty deep comic TV and movie discussions about all the negative reaction to Gotham, why he'd checked out of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and he enlightens me on the "fat guy with a power ring" movie that opened the door for Christopher Nolan to reboot the world's greatest detective.   Delving into the comic pages themselves, Aaron tells us his origin story. From learning to read with a Transformers com

  • Booked #41 - A Weird Place in Pop Culture

    03/11/2014 Duración: 01h01min

Stevil and Rob Lobster welcome you to another episode of Booked! We start off in the realm of TV, where we give some love to our co-host Katie Findlay on the massively successful debut of her new show How To Get Away With Murder. Then we move into some of the comic related debuts of the week.   Is Gotham a little too heavy handed on the references? Do we wish it was just a straight forward Gotham Central adaptation? Our hosts also ask listeners to give it a little faith past the pilot, because when has a show ever been decided by it's pilot? Also on the TNT network, a Teen Titans series has gotten the green light with Nightwing being the rumored leader. What can we expect from this? Stevil is really hoping for Cassie Sandmark.   Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also started their sophomore season, starting with a quick peek at Agent Carter. What can we expect from this prequel series? We will watch it all day if it has Dum Dum Duggan! And at the same time, can Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continue the momentum it

  • Booked #40 - Butt-Hurt over Spider-Woman's Butt

    25/09/2014 Duración: 01h03min

Rob Lobster and Stevil are here to dish on the controversies this week that have been plaguing the comic world recently. Is Milo Manara's Spider-Woman variant cover worth all the negative clout? And why is Time Magazine getting involved? Is the over sexualization of women in comics coming to an end? We also discuss the monster signing of Charles Soule to Marvel. What does it mean for his DC Comics series? So check us out, but keep it platonic!

  • Booked #39 - Nova Corpse

    04/09/2014 Duración: 01h09min

Finally our panel at Booked can speak openly about everything Guardians of the Galaxy and not have to spoiler alert anyone, because everyone's seen it now, right? Along with J.J. Webb, we address the ridiculous assumption that the casting of professional wrestlers in major films is a box office kiss of death, speculate where the Guardians go from here and the rest of it's tie ins with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. J.J. gets some pronunciation pet peeves off his chest, plus with all the love we give James Gunn and everyone involved in Guardians, was there room for improvement? We throw it down with no apologies this week on Booked!

  • Booked #38 - No Heroes

    13/08/2014 Duración: 01h15min

Booked is back from it's month long recording hiatus! Stevil and Rob Lobster welcome their guest Kyle James-Patrick, Stevil's co-worker and director of Nightwing: Prodigal and the feature film Not For The Saving. This week we discuss Marvel's projected slate of films, who's best suited to play the prince of Wakanda, Chuckie P's future endeavor into comics and the departure of one of Marvel's greatest writers. The episode deviates from the usual and gets a little political as we weigh the escapism versus reality of the real world and which writers choose to let it fuel them.So listen in as we get invaded by a Brit!

  • Booked #37 - Ninja Turtles Personality Test

    22/07/2014 Duración: 58min

The excitement grows for Guardians of the Galaxy, less than a month away, plus our hosts get Ben to weigh in on the rumored slate of DC films coming our way. Our guest also gives us an ingenious way to categorize your friends! Cowabunga!!

Stevil is reunited with cast mate Rob Lobster and the duo tackle Batman v. Supeman writer David Goyer's recent remarks, why DC/Warner Bros/Legendary will fail to create an expanded universe comparable to Marvel Studios and the nit picking of the latest X-Men movie gets spoilery. You've been warned.

  • # 35 - Reconstructing Ben Morse

    11/06/2014 Duración: 35min

Technology. It's supposed to make our lives easier, right? Sometimes it does the opposite, and decides not to record both sides of a Skype conversation, creating more work for us! Don't fret, my pets, we fixed it up real nice. Mr. Ben Morse from Marvel.com is the victim of our computer's mutiny, and we've cut up and stitched together our great chat with him. We talk X-Men, Doop, GOTG, and Novacorps. Enjoy our franken-podcast!

  • # 34 - We Like Things

    25/05/2014 Duración: 01h13min

In this issue, Katie, Stevil and the 8-foot lobster named Rob are in the Mancave to defeat the evil something-or-other. We celebrate the return of Miss Katie, and talk about what went on during her absence, as well as the return of Peter Parker in the wake of Otto Octavius. Stevil warns of impending backlash due to rumoured recasting of some key X-Men roles; Rob's wallet is feeling deflated because of DC's weekly releases; and the trio provides some excellent recomendations for the week.
