Sinopsis
And Lo! There came a day. A day like no other. When Earth's mightiest podcasters were unable to do it alone. Travis and Patrick joined forces and formed The Reel Comic Heroes Podcast. Our goal was simple; review movies from a genre we love. But then something happened. We discovered that not only did we want to talk about Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and the rest. We wanted to talk about our other heroes too. Mr. Spock, James Bond, and Indiana Jones. Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker, too. We started with 1951s 'Superman and the Mole Men' are and chronologically working through our ever-expanding list of movies. You can find our show on iTunes, Stitcher, and many other Podcast apps by searching 'Reel Comic Heroes'.

181 Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
23/07/2025 Duración: 01h53min181 - Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back In this episode of Reel Comic Heroes, we dive deep into Kevin Smith’s wild, fourth-wall-breaking road trip comedy: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Join us as we revisit the 2001 cult classic that brought the View Askewniverse full circle—and then blew it up for good measure. We explore the film’s meta-commentary on Hollywood, comic book culture, and internet fandom—years before it became the norm. From cameos galore (Will Ferrell! Mark Hamill! Carrie Fisher!) to over-the-top hijinks and surprisingly heartfelt moments, we ask the big questions: Does this movie still hold up? Is it a fitting sendoff—or cash-in—for two of indie film’s most iconic stoners? Expect plenty of nostalgia, irreverent humor, and a few “snootchie bootchies” along the way. Whether you're a die-hard View Askew fan or just curious what happens when two side characters hijack the spotlight, this episode’s got something for you. 02/07/2025 Duración: 01h42min180 - Planet of the Apes In this episode, we travel back to 2001 and dive headfirst into the strange, ambitious, and often divisive reboot of Planet of the Apes directed by Tim Burton. 10/04/2025 Duración: 01h41minGet ready for a wild, surreal ride through the twisted corridors of early-2000s cinema as the Reel Comic Heroes crew dives headfirst into Monkeybone—a film that’s part dark fantasy, part slapstick comedy, and entirely confusing. In this episode, we unpack the strange journey of cartoonist Stu Miley (Brendan Fraser), who finds himself trapped in a bizarre limbo world filled with oddball creatures, bad decisions, and one very horny monkey. We’ll explore the film’s chaotic tone, the surprisingly impressive creature design by Stan Winston Studio, and ask the big questions—like “Who exactly was this movie for?” and “Was Hollywood just... okay with this?” We also look at director Henry Selick’s jump from The Nightmare Before Christmas to Monkeybone, and how the film’s troubled production and studio meddling might’ve buried its potential. Expect laughs, bewilderment, and a healthy dose of 2000s nostalgia (and regret). Spoiler warning: monkey business ahead. Discuss the episode over on the Facebook group: The Reel Co
