The activist/musician recently launched Peace.tv, a multi-cultural, racial, linguistic and denominational media presence that serves as a nexus, a creative collective and a driving force and conduit by which to inspire, motivate and to create the essence and the reality of peace.READ MORE HEREHerndonhttp://www.herndondavis.com/Labels: blog, conflicts, myspace, peace.tv, solutions, video, wars, Yarone fishman, youtube

  • The Power of Art: Understanding David DeRosa

    29/07/2007

by: Herndon Davishttp://www.herndondavis.com/As undefined as visual art can sometimes be there is still a measured structure to it which can resonate with a viewer so much so that it “pops” from the canvass into the psyche of a mesmerized admirer.Termed as pop impressionism, this style of artistic expression has been perfected by San Francisco artist, David Derosa, whose recent “Catachismic” series takes on a distinctly spiritual theme while using opposing shades of light and dark, positive and negative shapes with text that contain dual meanings of his subjects in everyday poses.READ MORE HEREHerndonhttp://herndondavis.com/index3.htmlLabels: Catachismic, David DeRosa, drafting, painting, pop impressionism, visual ad-libbinb, visual art

  • Conflict, Peace andSATYAGRAHA

    12/04/2007

Political conflicts and full-fledged wars have often punctuated human history since the beginning of time.  Division is nothing new and neither are the many reasons used to justify conflicts, violence and destruction. But blessedly there are other ways, alternative paths, and creative tools currently being used in order to establish, create, maintain and grow the essence and the materialization of peace world-wide.Meet director, producer, and writer, Rob Graydon. He has brilliantly captured in his new documentary SATYAGRAHA, the intimate behind-the scene details of one of the most iconic symbols of peace, Gandhi. The engaging film also chronicles 100 years in history from 1906-2006 of conflicts and wars and the non-violent peace initiatives employed to end them. Keywords: Peace, Gandhi, SATYAGRAHA, conflicts, wars, documentary, Iraq War

  • Choose The Good In Your Life

    15/03/2007

When trapped between hope and hallelujah, dead- ended at depression and deliverance, propositioned by pain and prosperity; choose the good in your life, choose God. When smothered by smearing remarks, drowned by doubting thoughts, and buried by the bitterness of others, choose the good in your life, choose God. When cornered by crisis and charisma, faced with fear and faith, and joined by jealousy and joy; choose the good in your life, choose God. When lured between illness and illumination, anger and awareness, procrastination and purpose, rage and resolution, choose the good in your life, choose God.

    24/02/2007

If there’s one thing that Rachel Lynn possesses, it’s gutsy faith to pursue her calling in music. From teaching herself how to play the guitar, to assembling a band, laying down tracks and getting industry buzz all in a relatively short period of time, Rachel’s story is one of inspiration as well as talent. How many of you take the time to affirm your life’s destiny? How many of you state aloud your personal and spiritual truths on a daily basis?

  • Isaiah Washington Commentary and Radio Interview

    30/01/2007

So much has been said and speculated recently about the Isaiah Washington controversy. Last week I was interviewed on KJLH, 102.3 FM, a Los Angeles based radio station to discuss Isaiah and the use of the "F-word" slur targeted towards the gay community. Attached to this message is a link to listen to the radio interview with host, Adai along with my personal written commentary on what I think is the true lesson to be learned. So what exactly can we learn from it; how can we grow from it; and what do we understand from this situation? Read entire commentary here........ Herndon www.herndondavis. com

  • The Human Zoo of Sexuality

    15/12/2006

What was once thought to be a sexual taboo a generation ago is now a commonly accepted sexual thought. However, this evolving change did not occur because of a declining moral society but instead it has been ignited by a more mature, studied, researched and dialogued society. Hence, this is the premise of Zumanity, a Cirque du Soleil production created three years ago that’s still playing at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. From corny penis-banana jokes to an erotic lesbian swim sequence, to an intense African Seductress dance, to a Cuban male stripper; this unique production brings conservative middle-Americans far closer to embracing their hidden inhibitions and curiosities about sexuality than ever before.

    28/11/2006

  • Afro-Latinos Understood

    10/11/2006

They’re often rejected, sometimes accepted but mostly misunderstood. They are Afro-Latinos, also referred to as Black-Latinos. This diverse ethnic group heavily dominates the Americas as their history is steeped in the abominable actions of slavery, forced assimilation into the New World, and the legacy of struggle in which they live today.

  • 'Spirited' Delivers Sacred New Text

    18/10/2006

Since the spring of 2006 the Black LGBT community has embraced a new sacred text, a vibrant source of inspiration, and a guidebook of spiritual growth and understanding. It is called “Spirited,” a collaboration of over 40 different Black LGBT authors who have each contributed their insight, experiences, and advice on how to live vibrant and spirit filled lives without fear, guilt or shame. Edited by G. Winston James and Lisa C. Moore, the book has been several years in the making as it endured serious unexpected delays such as a house fire and even Hurricane Katrina. However the seven year wait was well worth the valued effort as now a nationwide promotional tour is currently underway introducing the spiritual anthology to diverse communities across the nation.

  • Fashion For Men

    18/10/2006

Up until now the ever evolving fashion industry has been almost entirely focused upon the likes, dislikes, and whims of the female consumer. Typically the most creative and trendiest creations that have come from the depths of a fashion designer’s imagination are almost exclusively geared towards women. In fact female fashion models are paid inordinately higher salaries than their male counterparts which really cements the industry’s attention upon women as being the foremost focal point and consumer. But now the runway is being swirled in the opposite direction as a bold new fashion concept and a multi-media website has been launched totally dedicated to the fashion consciousness of men. A brainchild of Sydney Australia native, Hareth Tayem, MaleOrderOnly.com targets men of every persuasion with a focus on revolutionizing the entire men’s fashion industry.

  • Responding To Your Life

    18/10/2006

There’s a wise old saying that “Life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you respond or react to it.” This universal law of living is stunningly accurate and amazingly true and has vast power to impact the direction and the quality of the rest of your life. Think of it this way. Approximately 90% of the drama in your life is a direct result of how you responded and reacted to 10% of the events, problems and people in your life.
