Inside Intertraffic Series 1
16/04/2020 Duración: 13minWith Intertraffic Amsterdam postponed until next March, the official podcast of the event is delivering thought leadership with a series of episodes featuring those who will be at the revised event next year. In this podcast presenter Paul Hutton chats about the postponement with fellow reporter Kevin Borras who says he was impressed that everyone was given as much warning as possible that the dates would be moved, “It's the right move and you have to applaud it. For the team tasked with making that decision it must have been one of the toughest of not just their professional lives, but their lives full stop. For a small show - if there are 500 visitors and 50 exhibitors - you can move that a bit nearer the time, but with Intertraffic Amsterdam you're looking at 38,000 people coming from all across the world and the best part of 1000 exhibitors across the halls. That's such a gargantuan event that you have to give it the time to move.” Paul also explains how the original podcast promoting Intertraffic h

PTV Panel debate Singapore
26/11/2019 Duración: 48minThis is a recording of an excellent PTV-led debate about the future of mobility and the use of data to support it, reducing the need for infrastructure building. The panel debate took place at the ITS World Congress in Singapore and was chaired by SMART Highways editor Paul Hutton. It featured discussion on better traffic management, budget constraints, politicians' love of "turning dirt" rather than cheaper, quicker, more efficient technology solutions, and the "rush to be second". The debate, called "Orchestrating mobility in Smart Cities" focused on cities' orchestration of transport modes to deal with the most pressing mobility challenges: congestion, environmental impact and road safety. It started with a presentation about PTV Optima before a debate involving: Omid Ejtemai, PTV Group Chong Lee, Head of Urban Solutions, Volkswagen AG Majid Sarvi, Head of Transport Engineering, University of Melbourne Martin Huber, Head of BWVI, Hamburg Randy Iwasaki, Executive Director at Contra Costa Transportation

Bonus Singapore Podcast
25/11/2019 Duración: 30minWe recorded so much great material at the ITS World Congress in Singapore, and some of it didn't fit into podcasts from the event, so here is a bonus podcast sponsored by AGD Systems, Cohda Wireless, HERE Technologies, Jenoptik, PTV Group, SWARCO and WSP. In the programme you'll hear the full summary of Congress from Prof Eric Sampson, Chief Rapporteur, who addressed the closing ceremony. Australian company Cohda Wireless and their partners Autonomous Stuff from Illinois Plus talk driverless technology and the business case around it, while we hear about data with EROAD and how anonomised data from road user charging can be used to predict traffic congestion and even accidents. We also hear from a first-time visitor to Congress, Steph Barton of WSP about her experiences at the event. Even this bonus podcast is not enough to fit in everything recorded in, so listen out for longer interviews with HERE, Blackberry, Dutch Experts and hall-of-famer Brian Negus to come, plus a session at congress with PTV and

SH Q42019 Promo Podcast
19/11/2019 Duración: 19minThis latest edition of our SMART Highways podcast focusses on the latest issue of the magazine, covering smart motorways, other safety features in car and traffic management. Our cover feature in this issue is all about the topical issue in Britain at the moment – the safety of smart motorways. Given the technology is being copied, or being considered, around the world as a lower-cost way of delivering more capacity, it’s a key issue everywhere. SMART Highways reporter Emma Greedy spoke to key people about the concept, the problems and possible solutions and explained some of her findings to Talking Transport presenter Paul Hutton, the editor of SMART Highways magazine. In the podcast we also hear from two SMART Highways columnists who stick with the Safety First? message of the cover of the latest issue. Andy Graham talks eCall while Scott Belcher discusses photo enforcement. Traffic management is also key in the latest issue with a range of articles from using the nudge theory to make a difference man

Talking Transport Singapore Friday
24/10/2019 Duración: 35minAs the 26th ITS World Congress draws to a close, there is still lots of thought leadership going on in Singapore's Suntec Centre, and we're grabbing the best of it on Talking Transport sponsored by AGD Systems, Cohda Wireless, HERE Technologies, Jenoptik, PTV Group, SWARCO and WSP. In today's programme, we talk about the differing ways of approaching enforcement based on different cultural attitudes around the world with Jenoptik giving advice on how to approach the issue. The differences between cities and countries and a lack of one-size-fits-all approach is reflected in conversation with Bosch who talk about delivering mobility solutions in different places, while we hear about a radar-based safety solution from Navtech Radar that not only spots stopped vehicles but can help improve driving by catching tailgaters and centre lane hogs. Then we look to congresses future and how the British city of Birmingham is already working on its bid to host the World Congress in 2024, while Lisbon is going to be the

Talking Transport Singapore Thursday
23/10/2019 Duración: 28minThe way technology can deliver more efficiency on our transport network without the need for more infrastructure building, and how mapping makes our new mobility services possible take centre stage on our look ahead to Thursday at the ITS World Congress in Singapore, in podcasts sponsored by AGD Systems, Cohda Wireless, HERE Technologies, Jenoptik, PTV, SWARCO and WSP. We talk to PTV about the step change in modelling by using realtime data to fix traffic jams before they even happen, while SMART Highways editor Paul Hutton heads to HERE Technology's new offices in Marina Bay, Singapore to discuss mapping solutions and the different challenges faced by the map maker in different parts of the world. There's a conversation about ride sharing with Via, who say that humans will be rational and choose such mobility solutions if they make their lives easier than using their comfortable private car, while Siemens suggest that the long years of political concern about introducing road user charging my be coming to
