This week, I sit down with Center for Metal Arts Executive Director, Patrick Quinn, to talk about his mission in helping preserve the rich steel history in Johnstown, Pa through research and education. As a blacksmith, Pat feels he has a duty to help keep the trade alive. His goal with Center for Metal Arts is to bring new faces into the world and further educate the ones who already have a strong foundation with forging metal. Starting out as a traditional artist with a focus in drawing, Pat found his way in front of a Power Hammer just by chance and now he spends his days educating the others on the fundamentals on manipulating hot steel with the swing of a hammer. Through a series of events, Michael found himself back in Pittsburgh, taking on odd jobs while trying to figure out his next move. As a traditionally trained metalsmith, he saw an opportunity to create affordable, hand-forged jewelry. This week, I sit down with The Commonheart founder and frontman Clinton Clegg. Clinton has been a musician all his life. With a mother that is still actively playing the church pipe organ twice a week in her 80’s, I think you can say music runs in his blood. Musicians are some of my favorite people to sit down with.
