George started his career at Vanderbilt where he worked as a compliance coordinator. He also spent three years working as their Director of ELITE Program [Educating Leaders in Tomorrow's Endeavors] and three more years as an Assistant Director of Compliance. Mr. Midgett then transitioned to North Carolina Central University where he worked as their Director of Student-Athlete Leadership and Engagement for four years. Most recently, George worked for Kansas Athletics as the Director of Student-Athlete Leadership and Outreach which is where we connected. George attended Fisk University for his undergraduate Business Management studies; he also was a four-year letter winner in baseball. Roberts is a former NFL coach and currently serves as the founding director of the Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation (CSLi) at the University of Texas—which he created in the fall of 2014. Daron also lectures in Texas’ Liberal Arts Honors Program, where he focuses on issues of leadership and innovation in the sports industry. Coach Roberts also created a course - A Gameplan for Winning at Life - that he teaches to nearly 300 incoming freshmen student-athletes at the University of Texas. Daron is also the author of, "Call an Audible: Let My Pivot from Harvard Law to NFL Coach Inspire Your Transition, which was named a #1 New Release and Best Seller by Amazon and Sports Illustrated selected the book as one of its "Best Sports Business Books of 2017." He ultimately made the decision to leave his home country for the United States as he pursued the opportunity of a lifetime to serve as a student-athlete at James Madison University in Virginia. During his time at JMU, Dimitrije was introduced to the world of sports psychology. The practices and exercises he learned forever changed his perception of the athletic experience. He is now a Ph.D. student here at the University of Kansas, pursuing a degree in Exercise Physiology. Despite that focus, Dimitrije is still passionate about performance psychology and he shares a plethora of insights regarding that area in the episode!
