During the pandemic, we have seen a crew change crises. Seafarers have not been able to travel between the ships that constitute their workplace and their country of residence due to travel restrictions.  High-level meetings have been taking place, aiming to get seafarers designated as "key-workers", which would lead to exemption from specific COVID-related travel restrictions and make it possible for the 200,000 stranded seafarers to become repatriated.  Here is a link to IMOs Q and As about the crew change crises. Currently, the next step towards normality is vaccination. The key-workers status would move seafarers up the line in the queue. The next step after that is how to prove vaccination and clearance for Covid-19 through a negative test. One suggestion is a Digital Health Pass, and that is what this episode is addressing. Currently, his vessel is trading in the Baltic Sea area and this year he is enjoying ice navigation. Captain Thomas recognises that the biggest change he has seen during his career is the arrival of the internet into our industry.  We get so many insights from Captain Thomas in this episode. He is talking about opportunities with the new technology development, and it is apparent that he loves his job. Thomas is sharing his concerns about being public on social media. In episode 145 you will listen to Harald Solberg, CEO of the Norwegian Shipowner's Association. He speaks about how the shipping industry needs to be bold and set up challenging targets and thereby be part of the solution for a climate-neutral future. Harald is with me on the demand for us to speak about the maritime industry outside our own ranks, we need to become more visible in mainstream media.  The International Chamber of Shipping has suggested a fund for technical developments toward a zero-emission shipping industry, along the same lines as the NOX fund, which Harald is very supportive of.  Collaboration is the way forward and there are a lot of opportunities in that, especially with other industries.  What do you think?
