Well that didn't go the way we wanted. The Blues bubble bursted early as they were eliminated by the Vancouver Canucks in six games in the first round of the NHL playoffs. So the St. Louis Blues season is over until December. What a wild and weird season it was. We had the highs of a banner raising, lows of an early playoff exit and the scary with the sudden in game cardiac event involving Jay Bouwmeester. Jason and Chris break down the St. Louis Blues time in the bubble in Edmonton and what exactly went wrong. We also discuss what may happen in the offseason from the resigning of Alex Pietrangelo, the health of Vladimir Tarasenko and what Doug Armstrong can do to upgrade the roster next season. It's been a long wait since the last time we got to see a St. Louis Blues game and they set off to the NHL Bubble on July 26th. The St. Louis Blues are back on the ice for the first time since March as the open up training camp version 2.0 at the Centene Community Ice Center. Well almost everyone was back. Chris and Jason talk about the Blues training camp, which St. Louis Blue was a finalist for an NHL award, and when we wil start seeing live hockey again on Fox Sports Midwest. (Hint: it's before the end of July!) Finally, Chris and Jason did a break down of the newest collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and the NHLPA. So there was a small silver lining to the stoppage in March. At least there will be labor peace for the next six years, maybe seven! First off, I hope everyone is doing well during these times, Both Chris and myself truly hope everyone is doing ok. We haven't had much to talk in the ways of the St. Louis Blues hockey besides remembering the one year anniversaries of last year's amazing playoff games. Well, finally we got some news this week! The NHL outlined their Return to Play guidelines and gave us what the rest of the season is going to look like. It's going to be very different (I mean hasn't everything been different since mid March). The NHL will have a 24 team playoff schedule to determine this year's Stanley Cup winner. Chris and I dive into all the details about the Return to Play guidelines and how the new playoff structure will affect the Saint Louis Blues. There's more in the world than hockey and we are finding that out now. The world is going through the cornavirus pandemic and it is affecting the NHL. The National Hockey League, along with many other major sports leagues, has paused their season. They're shutting the studio down as Dave Chappelle once said.  The St. Louis Blues got in three games this week before the NHL paused the season. Chris and Jason talk about the games this week along with their thoughts about the season being paused. It was a pretty somber podcast but I think it was good to talk about the current state of things while mixing in some hockey talk. The St. Louis Blues are back on the winning track and got their groove back. Teams are closing in on the Blues and there is little room for error. This week there was just as much going on off the ice as there was on the ice. The NHL trade deadline came and went with the Blues making a trade days before the deadline. There was a record amount of deals on the trade deadline day! That wasn't the only big news that happened this week. Hockey took a break for awhile this week. Jay Bouwmeester had a cardiac episode after a shift during the St. Louis Blues game against the Anaheim Ducks. It was such a scary moment for all of the Blues players and it brought back memories for Chris and Jason whe Chris Pronger collasped during a playoff game against Detroit. Chris and Jason will give you the latest update on Jay Bouwmeester (he's doing well and undergoing testing) and how they felt during this game. The St. Louis Blues come stumbling out of the All Star break dropping three of four games this week. Have the Blues finally hit the Mid Season hangover or is this just a small bump in a long season? There was a good amount of Blues news this week that included players returning from injury, another player getting injured and some minor league signings that may impact next year's roster. When the Stars come out in St. Louis, St. Louis knows how to be a great host. The St. Louis Blues get a bye week going ino All Star weekend and St. Louis  was hopping all weekend. It started on Thursday with the St. Louis Blues Alumni vs. NHL Alumni and it culminated on Sunday with the last day of the NHL Fan Fair. What a great weekend it was. St. Louis rolled out the red carpet to the NHL and I think despite some hiccups we did an amazing job. After an impressive shutout of the rival Chicago Blackhawks, the St. Louis Blues hit a rough patch of play and a rash of injuries. Th Blues had to call in reinforcements to the AHL for players to come up and fill roles on the hockey club. The Blues have somehow been able to be near the top of the standings all season long despite losing player after player to injury.
