Information On Cruising The Great Loop

Our Guest Host this week is George McNeir, designer and builder of the MOG Solar Powered Electric Boat.  George will tell us about the history, specifications and other facts about this innovative cruising vessel

Chuck Baier and Susan Landry will join us to talk about their three "Great Book of Anchorages" with a special focus on the newest one, "The Great Book of Anchorages--The Chesapeake Bay".

This week our guest host will be Dr. Jerry Reves, former Dean of MUSC and native Charlestonian. Dr. Reves will be telling us all about where to go and what to see in Charleston, SC.

Mike Dickens, Harbor Host for Jacksonville, FL, will be our co-host this Friday. You know Mike well from his popular postings for AGLCA Sponsor Paradise Yachts on buying and selling a Loop boat. Mike will be talking about cruising the east cost of Florida from Miami north to Jacksonville.

This show will feature member Michael Dellario who is on the Loop in his Gemini 105MC catamaran.  Michael will talk about the advantages and any disadvantages of cruising the Loop in a cat, specifically, the Gemini 105MC.    

Guest hosts Frederick Clarkson and Gerry Etzold will join us to discuss the financial aspects of doing the Loop.

This should be a very interesting show when Gold Loopers, Joe Pica and Gene Schnagl, discuss their opinions on the Asian Carp issue. The main topic of discussion will be a recently introduced bill that demands complete seperation of the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River to prvent the spread of Asian Carp.

Dr. Jerry Reves will join us to talk about ways to stay healthy while long-distance cruising. Don't miss these tips on a very important topic.

Members Bob and Sharon Boynton will be our guests this week to discuss ways to stay in shape while Looping.

Our guest host  is Jim Healy. We will be discussing the Automatic Identification System (AIS), an automatic tracking system used on ships and by vessel traffic services (VTS) for identifying and locating vessels by electronically exchanging data with other nearby ships, AIS base stations, and satellites.

This Friday, Jan. 24th, Mike Ahart of Waterway Guide, and, Capt. Tom Shipp of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission will be our guests. They will update us on the status of the Florida Anchoring & Mooring Pilot Program.
