S5E29 Collum Strikes Again
17/02/2016 Duración: 01h08minIt's a mix of Scottish Cup and SPFL action on this week's podcast. Although all the weekend action was from the league, this podcast was recorded while two replays took place in the Scottish Cup, as well as a bottom of the Premiership clash between Dundee United and Motherwell. As the goals and results come in, they get mentioned throughout the podcast so it's a little bit bitty at time. Although, to be honest, Krys and John pretty much skim their way through most of the league action to get to the juicy discussion of the fall out from Monday night's game at Inverness. The only way the discussion about Willie Collum on this podcast could depress a football fan more is if you're a Dundee United fan and you're listening to the discussion about their fate too. There's some Leigh Griffiths stats, some stalemates in the Championship, Peterhead on a run and no jokes about Barry Ferguson and Clyde's problems with HMRC. No really, we couldn't think of any. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our

02/02/2016 Duración: 01h17minIt's transfer deadline day, so in between discussing all the weekend action, Krys and John periodically stop to check what the latest news of the comings and goings. Part of that might have been Krys trying to avoid talking about the League Cup semi finals right enough. Actually, the guys did eventually get to the League Cup games played over the weekend, and unsurprisingly spent a lot of time focusing on key refereeing decisions in both games. That wasn't the only time referees came up, as no one seems to know why Dundee got a penalty in their game against Motherwell. Sadly that penalty wasn't enough to save the weather-adjusted charity bet though. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. Hopefully better luck this coming weekend. The usual recap of the league action, a look forward to the Scottish Cup fifth round, Premiership predictions... and Krys has a big rant about Celtic. And Billy Davies actually. Krys was quite ranty this week actually. Give sffpodcast On Twitter a f

S5E26 Rose to the Occasion
27/01/2016 Duración: 01h15minAnother Tuesday night recording meant that Krys and John were on at the same time as two of the Scottish Cup fourth round matches were being played so there was a bit of jumping back and forth to see how those games were going as they chatted about the various topics of the week. In among the discussions across the four divisions there were some important questions asked such as "who did Halliday gesture towards", "where have that Dundee United been all season", and "why are there never midweek goals shown on Sportscene and just how right was Paul Hartley about that programme". But perhaps most importantly we ask the question - who is more incompetent, the SFA or the SPFL? That and all the usual reflections and predictions, it's another jam packed podcast. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No luck this week sadly. S5E25 Champagne at Nandos
19/01/2016 Duración: 01h22minIt's back to league action after the excitement of the Scottish Cup last week, and it's back to the duo of Krys and John to go over a weather reduced fixture card. Peterhead's win helped us to another charity bet win, while Annan Athletic were brought back down to Earth with a bump. In the Championship, all eyes were on the big game at the Falkirk Stadium, while Rangers continued their return to form at home to Livingston. In the top flight, Dundee United's plight wasn't helped by the visit of Celtic and the oddly skewed scoring statistics "record" of Leigh Griffiths. It was made even worse by Kilmarnock's win in the snow the following day. Hearts thumped Motherwell for six, while Dundee also rattled a few past Partick Thistle. But the real excitement came in Dingwall in a highly entertaining live match as ten man Aberdeen came from a goal down to beat Ross County. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. The best part of this podcast was surpassing last season's charity total

S5E24 It's Banned, Stop It
12/01/2016 Duración: 01h54minIt's one of the highlights of the Scottish Football calendar, so it's no surprise that this podcast is a long one as Krys is joined by Andy and Craig to discuss all the action from the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. The big guns are in, and in some cases they're straight back out again! Annan Athletic are one of the big headline makers, while Dunfermline Athletic and Ross County managed to entertain on Sportscene far longer than some all Premiership ties. Andy and Craig manage to get a decent conversation out of the only goalless tie, but then it helps when both were at that very game. We eventually get to the three live televised games and are delighted to see someone finally get a penalty when they were taken out after shooting. Sadly the refereeing praise very quickly ends as we move on to wonder just who Andrew Dallas knows in refereeing circles to get fast tracked. Spoilers - we know. Finally we take a look a the fifth round draw and while one tie obviously stands out we look and wonder just where Cel

S5E23 Busier Than Santa
05/01/2016 Duración: 01h13minIt's the first podcast of the new year, and boy do we hit the ground running for 2016. Krys is joined by Andy and as always he gives us his perspective of Scottish Football from his Highland base. It's good timing as well, with a Highland derby having just taken place, Elgin City hitting top spot in League Two, and Peterhead going well in League One. With two rounds of Premiership fixtures having been played since we last recorded, and no fewer than 35 goals scored across those fixtures we're almost glad that two games were called off in that period! That and a look at the Championship as the top three all win and St Mirren take bragging rights in the Renfrewshire derby. And then, just as you'd think we're all finished, it's Scottish Cup weekend coming up! We look at some of the key fixtures, including the guarantee of a non-league club in the fifth round, wonder just why St Mirren and Partick Thistle are playing on Friday night if they're not on TV, and of course look a the big tie of the round where Andy ma

S5E22 Halliday Season
30/12/2015 Duración: 01h11minNo you haven't miscounted. S5E21 was lost forever due to technical difficulties, but Krys and John are back once again to look back on all the festive action. There was top of the table action in the Championship, and among other things they discuss the red card incident between Halliday and Fyvie. That wasn't the only refereeing discussion though. Although last week's podcast was lost, it was good of Willie Collum to put in a repeat performance so he could be slated for exactly the same thing he was slated for last week. Two points dropped or a point gained? The guys discuss that perspective as the top two in the Premiership pick up the same result in completely different manners. There's ups and downs across the divisions, from Ross County and Partick Thistle in the top six, to title challengers Hibernian now in third, to Stenhousemuir pushing on for a playoff spot, to the ever exciting League Two where everyone could still win it or end up in the playoff with the Highland and Lowland Leagues. Who says the

S5E20 Santa's Sack Race
16/12/2015 Duración: 01h07minIt's nearly Christmas! So of course, that's a good time to lose your job. Three SPFL managers have gone since we last recorded, and the fall out from those changes is discussed as Krys is joined by John for a Tuesday night podcast for a change. The top of the table clashes are discussed in the Championship, League One and then the Premiership, with a little bit of League Two thrown in for good measure as the wrong person scores for Clyde. All of that is interspersed with a look back at Celtic's final Europa League match of the season. As if that wasn't depressing enough, the Euro 2016 draw gets discussed as well as once more we lament the lack of Scotland at a major tournament and try to look forward to some exciting games next summer. Finally it's predictions for an all 3pm Saturday Premiership card. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No win this week sadly. S5E19 Desmond Too Late
08/12/2015 Duración: 01h14minThis week's podcast was recorded minutes before the SPFL announced details of the changes to the League Cup format for next season, closely followed by Danny Lennon resigning as Alloa Athletic manager. So almost immediately this podcast was completely out of date as Krys had been joined by John to discuss changes to Scottish Football in the wake of Storm Desmond - including the possibility of summer football and the changes to the League Cup! Away from that topic, the rather curtailed fixture list was discussed including Aberdeen's win over Dundee, Dundee United still not able to buy a win, a five goal thriller in Dingwall, and East Kilbride's Scottish Cup run. How did we manage to get a regular length podcast out of that? You'll have to listen to find out. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No win this week, but then most of it was wiped out by the weather. Give sffpodcast On Twitter to keep up with the latest charity bet odds, or just to give us some feedback on the po

S5E18 All Teams to Score
01/12/2015 Duración: 01h29minThis week, Krys is joined by Scottish Football Forums owner and Director of Podcasting Craig, as well as John the walking stats book. John delights us with his latest passion - both teams to score statistics - after realising that all six games in the Premiership saw both teams scoring. Somewhere in between, the guys manage to chat about Celtic's European exit, the Scottish Cup third round action, Rangers joining Peterhead in the Petrofac Training Cup final scheduled sometime in the late Spring, and of course all the fall out from the latest inability for pundits to know what constitutes a hand ball decision. Throw in some league reconstruction chat and the usual Premiership predictions and it's no surprise that this podcast runs a bit longer than usual. We hope it's worthwhile though, and it was certainly enjoyable to record. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet. No win this week sadly, but with Craig on a 100% record we can't fail this week. We hope. Give sffpodcast On Tw

S5E17 Aww Naw Another Draw
24/11/2015 Duración: 01h08minKrys returns from his holidays, and with Scottish football back up and running properly again the podcast returns after the quiet international break. John joins Krys to look back at a weekend of draws as Celtic, Hearts, Rangers and Aberdeen all fail to pick up three points. We look at the terrific run Hibernian are on and wonder if they'll be able to keep it up or whether Rangers could strengthen in January to push on and clinch the Championship title. We look further down the leagues and compare the tightness of League Two with the commanding lead the top two in League One have. In the Premiership, the live game at New Douglas Park is the obvious focus, although St Johnstone slowly gaining on the leaders has us wondering if they could be challengers for second. At the other end, it may not look too great for Dundee United on the face of it, but we highlight some possibilities for hope - mainly coming from Motherwell's return to rubbishness. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charit

S5E16 Stand Free
10/11/2015 Duración: 01h05minThis week, John hosts the podcast for the first time with help from a musical friend. Andy joins him though surprisingly there isn’t too much Aberdeen chat. There is good news in terms of the charity bets from last week. Craig and Greig manage to win both bets for the podcast team. John wonders whether they may have fled with their winnings. The lower league is reviewed with discussion on whether Hibs can overtake Rangers. St Mirren’s continued slide is discussed too. The title race in League One is discussed as Ayr and Dunfermline compete for top spot. As per every week, it is mentioned that League Two continues to be very competitive from top to bottom. The semi final draw for the League Cup is discussed. Andy wonders what the location will be for Hibs v St Johnstone. There are no predictions to be made as there is no Premier League card. John and Andy opt for John Baird of Falkirk for the Mcbookie FGS bet. They opt for a double after success of last week. The top two in League One are chosen. Thank you to

S5E15 Old School
03/11/2015 Duración: 59minKrys is on holiday, John pretends that he is busy studying / skiving and Andy is having technical problems, so things are desperate this week. So desperate in fact that the podcast has gone old school, with Craig and Greig sitting in to talk about the last week in Scottish football. A whole hour of football chat from the duo – what could be better than that. Sportscene gets it with both barrels, which is a bit of a trend over the seasons on the podcast. To highlight how woeful it was this past week, Craig sets up the worst quiz that has ever been recorded. The question is badly worded, with the answer being way too obvious, and the prize on offer hardly worth winning. After listening to Craig’s tactical review of Rangers’ formation against Hibs, you might be mistaken for thinking that you are listening to someone that has a UEFA Pro Licence. Does 5-3-2 equal ten outfield players? All six Premiership games are discussed in more detail than Sportscene, with midweek League Cup games also covered, although w

S5E14 Highland Coup
27/10/2015 Duración: 01h21minAndy and John join Krys once again as we focus on an interesting few days for many of the teams in the Highlands. From Scottish Cup victories, to defeats by ten men ahead of League Cup derby quarter finals, there's plenty to discuss for a variety of teams. Conversely, the Lowland League teams didn't do too well in the cup, with one possible exception much to John's disappointment. In the league, we look at how the Championship is shaping up ahead of the clash of the top two, and then do pretty much the same thing in the Premiership. It also appears to be something of a derby day in League One and League Two, although we do stretch that definition quite a bit for the likes of Stranraer! There's also a look back at yet more European disappointment for Scottish representatives this season as Celtic lost out to Molde in Norway. We talk about what their chances are of progressing and Krys is rather more optimistic than you'd expect. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet, although

S5E13 Connie McLaughlin's Features
19/10/2015 Duración: 01h06minDomestic football is back and Krys is joined by John to discuss much of the action over the last weekend. Rangers ten in a row, Hibernian trying to keep up, Dunfermline back on top and Annan Athletic on a nice run all get a look in through our lower league discussions before thoughts turn to the Premiership and the fortunes of the newest (but not that new) managers in the top flight. Ross County's progress under Jim McIntyre gets examined, as does the problems Derek McInnes currently faces at stumbling Aberdeen. The curious refereeing decisions of John Beaton and Alan Muir get questioned, while Willie Collum gets a bit of praise for brandishing his red card. Wonders will never cease. The guys preview the Premiership action, but before that there's Petrofac Training Cup and Championship action, as well as a trip to Norway for Celtic. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes in our charity bet, although there wasn't much success this week. No odds for this week's bets at the time of recording, so g

S5E12 Desmond Two All
12/10/2015 Duración: 01h17minIt's the post-Euro 2016 therapy session tonight as Krys is joined by John and Andy to look back over what could have been, what should have been, and what just plain wasn't in Scotland's latest failed qualification campaign. Focus starts on the recent Poland draw at Hampden, but soon turns to look at other aspects of the campaign including more dropped points against Poland, Ireland, Germany and yes even Georgia. Where next for Scotland also comes up eventually as the future of Gordon Strachan is discussed, as well as a look ahead just a short eleven months to the start of the World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign and the various fortunes of our opponents in that group through this campaign. Eventually turning to the domestic football once again, we look forward to the return of the SPFL action and discuss the ongoing managerial issues at several clubs. Then it's on to trying to make it three charity bet wins in a row after a second first goal scorer bet in quick succession came in over the weekend. Thanks as al

S5E11 (What's the Storey) Highland Glory
05/10/2015 Duración: 01h16minEl Kessicko. The Cold Firm derby. Ross County v Inverness. Whatever you call it, we covered the first top flight Highland derby of the season. But first, we had a good dissection of just what has happened at Pittodrie. Out of the League Cup to a lower league team, back to back defeats in the league, including a 5-1 thrashing at home. Krys just bit his tongue as Andy and John covered all the problems before coming to the conclusion that the international break had come just at the right time. Scotland's slim chances of Euro 2016 qualification gets a good analysing, as we looked forward to the final double header of the qualification group against Poland and Gibraltar. Can we make the playoffs? We'll look back at it again next week. Celtic in Europe, Celtic in Hamilton, who will be the next Dundee United manager and will it be someone who has taken their current club as far as they can, and is a former Tannadice man losing the plot at Ibrox? The charity bet was another mixed bag, but the total is slowly creepin

S5E10 Commentator Manbags
28/09/2015 Duración: 01h37minBack to Monday night, and back to the old regulars as Krys is joined by Hearts TV's Laurie and Scottish Football Forums owner and Director of Podcasting Craig. Oh how far we've come. Well, maybe not Krys. Although it was covered to a certain extent in last week's podcast, the guys go over the full League Cup fixture card from midweek as well as going over the fixtures from the weekend. There's a lot of jumping back and forth between the two sets of fixtures as they look at the mixed fortunes of Rangers, a good week for Hearts, a frustrating week for Celtic, a bubble bursting week for Aberdeen, and a dismal week for Ian Baraclough and Jackie McNamara. There was mixed fortunes too for the charity bet, which leads to over-excitement when picking the teams for next week. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes. Listen all the way to the end if you want to know what this week's title is all about. It's a bit longer than usual, but I hope you agree it was well worth the extra time. Unlike the action a

S5E9 The Aberdeen and Celtic Show
22/09/2015 Duración: 01h04minFollowing Skype's worldwide issues on Monday, this week's podcast was recorded on Tuesday night after Rangers defeat in the League Cup to St Johnstone. So rather than talk about them and chance being accused of laughing too much, Krys and John decided just to revert to type and focus on the fortunes of Aberdeen and Celtic. Or maybe it was just Aberdeen and Celtic had midweek games as well as big weekend wins. Also discussed this week were Partick Thistle's lack of dead pigs, the Ross County home for Celtic youth players, Dundee United's lack of luck, Morton's giant killing pedigree, rowdy youngsters at the football, how do you pronounce Tavernier, and of course another disappointing charity bet result. Thanks as always to McBookie for providing the stakes. We also reveal the possibility of a return for a certain Director of Podcasting next week so that someone who knows about Rangers can school us in the ways of magic hats. Follow sffpodcast On Twitter to keep abreast of the latest charity bet odds, and to ju
