1 Corinthians 4: 1-5  "This is how one should regard us: as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." 1 For 4:1  Our Scriptures this morning reveal a sobering truth: you and I are servants of Christ and stewards--the word means 'managers' really--of the mysteries of God. What on earth does that mean? And how do we actually fulfill that role? Oh! God has wonderful plans for you! Get ready to be greatly used in His Kingdom.

1 Cor 3: 16-23  "If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool..." 1 For 3: 18 It was some kind of self-proclaimed 'wisdom' that was splitting the church at Corinth. Members of one group were claiming to have a 'wisdom' that other groups lacked. This morning Paul calls an end to it all! It's time to get rid of such 'wisdom' and become 'fools', once again, for Jesus Christ. "...for other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid: Jesus Christ." 1 Cor 3:11 This morning, Paul makes a remarkable point: Christians are 'architects'. Paul uses that word to describe himself (vs 10: Gr. "architekton"); and in similar terms he describes us all: we are builders, building our lives and building our church. "...are you not being merely human?"  1 Cor 3:4 In the wake of all their jealousies and strife, Paul asked the Corinthian Christians: "When you do these things, are you not being merely human?" What a strange question! Of course we are "merely human"! Isn't that what we're supposed to be? Isn't that what we really are? Incredibly enough, the answer is "no". Not since you've known Christ! "For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." 1 Cor 2: 2 It is entirely possible to know too much; especially when it comes to our need for salvation. Unsaved seekers balk at the 'simplicity' of the Gospel; their knowledge gets in the way! Cults, heresies and eccentric churches are man-centered; full of their own knowledge, with no real interest or patience for the only two things worth knowing: Christ and the Cross!

It's been going on since day one: the 'haves' and the 'have nots'; the 'rulers' and the 'ruled'. We have a 'Silicon Valley Elite', right now, trying to run our country! But praise God! "For the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing..." 1 Cor 1:18 "The fool has said in his heart, there is no God," we read in Psalm 14:1. But, of course, he thinks himself very 'wise'!
