Judges, Kings & Prophets
25/12/2024 Duración: 23minPreacher: Josh Henessey Today is Christmas Day, and in this message Josh goes back to the start of creation. This seems like a strange place to start when it's Christmas. Shouldn't we start at the birth of Jesus? No, Josh wants us to understand why Jesus was born, so we can marvel more at what God has done for us. Mary
25/12/2024 Duración: 36minReader: Jonathan Smith Preacher: Doug Carr Music: Josh Henessey Today is Christmas Eve, and in this final message from our series of The Women Of Advent, Doug tells us of the story of Mary, a young woman who would have been ostracised by her culture for being unmarried and pregnant. Yet throughout this whole series we have seen how God has incorporated women considered "scandalous" by their society into his redemption plan for the world. We can take comfort in this, particularly when we recognise that we are not righteous, but God in his grace, still chooses to use us for his plans and glory. The Persistent Widow
24/11/2024 Duración: 53minReader: Gehan Pereira Preacher: Jonathan Smith This week Jonathan is preaching from Luke 18:1-8. This short parable reveals that as we wait for Christ's return, Christians will suffer injustice. Unlike the judge in the parable, God is just and will eagerly hear and answer our pleas for help. Our part is to persevere in prayer. Today we are doing something a bit different. Normally we end the sermon with a song that is reflective of what we have just heard, however, we end today's message with prayer for the persecuted church around the world, keeping in line with the teaching from this parable. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. We exist to be a community of people helping people make all of life all about Jesus.

The Lost Boys
17/11/2024 Duración: 59minReader: Doug Carr Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: Leslie Edis & Josh Henessey The Parable of the Prodigal Son reveals that God’s love and grace is immense beyond our wildest dreams. Irrespective of the mess we have made of our lives, his overwhelming desire is to welcome us home with open arms. However, as per all of Jesus's parables, there is more to ths story than we normally think. This story is actually about TWO lost sons - the 'bad' son who squandered his father's wealth, and the 'good' one who stayed home. The church is like the 'good' son - at times thinking we are better than others, when in reality we are not, and so therefore miss out on the overwhelming desire of God to welcome us into the party as well. The Grand Banquet
10/11/2024 Duración: 46minReader: Anne Miller Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: Josh Henessey, John Hudson & Bek Hudson Today Pastor Jonathan looks at the parable of The Grand Banquet. Jesus turns the social norms of the first century ancient world upside down when he says that we shouldn't invite people to our social events because they can return the favour to us. Instead, we should invite those who can never repay the favour. God's kingdom is exactly like this. God has invited us to the everlasting party that will be in heaven, but there is absolutely no possible way we could repay him. We are the the poor, maimed, blind and lame in this parable because we are spiritually poor, maimed by the power of sin, blinded from seeing the truth and lame because we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven on our own. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. We exist to be a community of people helping people make all of life all about Jesus.

The Good Samaritan
03/11/2024 Duración: 36minReader: Danita O'Loughlin Preacher: John Hudson Music: Josh Hennessy, Joanna Justus & Bek Hudson Today John looks at the parable of The Good Samaritan. Often times we look at this parable and hope we can be like the Good Samaritan, but John wants us to look at this parable from a different perspective. What if we are the person who was robbed, the victim who the Good Samaritan helped? If Jesus symbolises the Good Samaritan, do we recognise the full grace and sacrificial love we have been given, like the Good Samaritan has provided to the robbed man? Love Like Jesus
13/10/2024 Duración: 53minReader: Marios Kyriakou Preacher: Josh Henessey Music: John Hudson, Josh Henessey & Natalie Tumbas Today Josh gives Red Door Church his testamony, and part of that is how two young men discipled him when he was a teenager. The unconditionally gave their time and other resources to help Josh understand who he is in God's Kingdom. There was a cost involved by these 2 men - a cost that Josh couldn't repay, and a cost these men did not expect to be repaid. Being a follower of Jesus and loving other people like he did has a cost. Are we prepared to really offer costly sacrifices to be a follower of Jesus? Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. Miserable Comforters
30/09/2024 Duración: 40minReader: Mel Truong Preacher: John Hudson Music: Josh Henessey, Joanna Justus & Bek Hudson Today John continues in a three week mini-series on the Book Of Job. Today's message is titled 'Miserable Comforters'. Job's friends initially sit with Job to bring him comfort, but then they try to solve why Job is suffering - saying he must have sinned and so he is being punished. John points out the error in their thought process. It is a similar trap that we can fall into, so John points out how we should respond when we face trials and sufferings. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. We exist to be a community of people helping people make all of life all about Jesus.

Questions Of Suffering
22/09/2024 Duración: 42minReader: Levi Dacion Preacher: John Hudson Music: Josh Henessey, Joanna Justus & Bek Hudson Today John starts a three week mini-series on the Book Of Job. Today's message is titled 'Questions Of Suffering'. John does not try to solve the question of why God allows suffering, but by the same token, he does not give the stock standard cliche responses that are often heard when this difficult topic is breached. Interestingly, even though Job suffers, it is God hwo allows Satan just enough rope that Satan hangs himself. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. A Conflicted Life
15/09/2024 Duración: 42minReader: Judy Carr Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: Josh Henessey & Natalie Timbus Today Pastor Jonathan compares the person King David was and what he was meant, to be to King Jesus. David was tempted and gave in to his sin; Jesus was tempted but did not. David was punished for his sin; Jesus was punished for ours. Finally, David was pardoned from his sin because of the sacrifice he made; we are pardoned from our sins because of the blood bought sacrifice Jesus made. Sin's Harvest
08/09/2024 Duración: 52minReader: John Hargrave Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: John & Bek Hudson, Joanna Justus Today's message is hard, however it is in the Bible, so we need to navigate this hard truth and understand both why this story is there and what is its purpose. The story of then rape of Tamar by her half-brother Amnon is full of evil. It proves that as a society, we are no different to the ancient Israelites. Sexual violence is too prevalent in our society. Pastor Jonathan encourages people who have been affected by te evil of sexual violence to come to Jesus for healing and hope. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. We exist to be a community of people helping people make all of life all about Jesus.

Life Is Short, Have An Affair
01/09/2024 Duración: 58minReader: Graeme Miller Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: Josh Henessey, Leslie Edis & Bek Hudson From the peak where David had God's heart in establishing the kingdom as a nation governed by God's law, he gives into his desires and has an adulterous relationship with another man's wife. When things go wrong (Bathsheba is pregnant), David schemes to cover the affair, ultimately leading to the murder of Bathsheba's husband Uriah. We are no different. When tempted by sin we can give in to it, or we can turn away. If we give in to the sin, we can repent and turn away or we can continue down the slippery road of no return. The choice is ours, and how we respond defines how we truly place our faith and trust in God. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia. We exist to be a community of people helping people make all of life all about Jesus.

A Man After God's Own Heart
25/08/2024 Duración: 41minReader: John Hargrave Preacher: Jonathan Smith Music: Leslie Edis, Joanna Justus & Josh Henessey David had God's heart in establishing the kingdom as a nation governed by God's law, and in dealing justly with his people. In his personal life, David was less consistent, but his merciful dealings with Mephibosheth bear witness to his godly heart. Red Door is an Anglican Church in Melbourne, Australia.
