Scripture:  Luke 12:13-21 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  It's unlikely that many of us have ever asked ourselves this question:  Why do I have so much?  Scott talks about the "consumption assumption" attitude and brings us to another question to consider:  What has Jesus given you in abundance and what will you do with that?  

Scripture:  Proverbs 22:7; 1 Timothy 6:6-18 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  In this message, Scott takes a look at how we use or abuse our money in the light of Proverbs 22:17 and 1 Timothy 6:6-18.  The question we must answer is do we see our money the same way God sees our money?  Your decision can bring peace or it can bring slavery.  Your decision about how you handle your finances is clear when you realize that God doesn't want something from you, but he does want something for you.

Scripture:  Ephesians 3:14-21 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Looking forward to the new year as Western Hills pursues the five year mission as well as looking back on the blessings 2022 has brought to Western Hills.

Scripture:  Matthew 2 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Scott explores the visit of the Magi and the ruthlessness of Herod in this message.  His theme for the entire series has been: the miracle of Christmas is that Jesus joins us...not at our best, but in our mess.  The story of the birth of Jesus is full of very messy episodes, a pregnant unmarried woman, a betrothed man who knows her child is not his, and a ruthless ruler.  Imperfect people who can only be made perfect by the child that is born that first Christmas.

Scripture:  Matthew 1:18-24 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary: Joseph is called to be the earthly father of God's own son, a call he answers despite the difficult circumstances he must accept to answer God's call for his future.  

Scripture:  Matthew 1:1-25 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Scott brings the first message in the Christmas Series, Untangling Christmas, finding the miracle in the mess.  He begins with Matthew's account of Jesus' genealogy.  Upon examination of Jesus' ancestors, it is apparent that these were imperfect people.  Yet, through these imperfect people, God brings about the most amazing miracle, the gift of the baby Jesus who would save all of mankind.   Note:  At the conclusion of his message, Scott offers to pray for anyone who wishes for him to do that. Scripture:  Luke 10:25-37 (ESV) Speaker: Scott Seela, Community Minister Summary:  Scott finds the definition of "The Minimum" in the story Jesus tells in Luke about the "Good Samaritan."  After examining this text, the definition of the minimum for a follower of Jesus is clearly defined by one's desire to expend time and resources to care for others.

Scripture:  Colossians 4:7-18 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  In this message, Scott looks at the final verses of Colossians.  These concluding remarks of Paul the apostle include the mentions of several people who have blessed him and are blessing the church in city of Colossae. Although it may seem as though it is just a list of names of people we don't know anything about, Scott brings the significance of this "list" to the church in the present time.  

Scripture:  Colossians 4:2-5 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  In this message, Scott explores prayer and the power of prayer in a believer's practice of telling others about Jesus.  How does a believer find the courage to tell others?  Scott brings some very practical ways prayer empowers.

Scripture:  Colossians 3:12-4:1 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  When you hear the word "peace,"  what comes to your mind?  Perhaps something that goes beyond the lack of conflict?  Scott explores the "peace of Christ" that Paul discusses in this passage in the letter to the Colossians.  You will hear how Paul connects peace and your relationships.  What is the "secret" ingredient that brings peace?

Scripture:  Colossians 3:1-17 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  In this message, Scott shows us the meaning of new life in Christ using the "Put off-Put on" language of Paul in his letter to the Colossians.  Paul gives a very clear explanation of the life we "put off" when we become followers of Christ.  Just as clearly, he explains what things we "put on" when we choose a life with Christ.  

Scripture:  Colossians 2:11-23 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Knowing there's a victory to come changes your life.  That's the theme of this message from Scott based on Colossians 2:11-23.  If you want to be a devoted follower of Christ, please understand that the victory has been decided already.  And because that is true, live like it!

Scripture:  Colossians 1:21-29 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  There are so many voices shouting from everywhere in our culture for your attention, focus and devotion.  Most of them are self-serving and have very little concern for you, your present, or your future.  But there is a true voice that is calling to you for the sole purpose of giving you life that is abundant and full of hope.  That voice is the voice of God.  Through His one and only son, God is seeking you to give a gift you cannot be promised by any other voice.  But what voice is forming you?  Have you made your choice?  Listen to Scott's message and hear God's voice in Scripture calling you to choose the life God so desperately wants for you.

Scripture:  Colossians 1:15-20 (ESV) Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  In these five verses, Scott brings the words of Paul the Apostle to a small church in a small town about who is in charge of your life as a follower of Jesus.  He describes the one who has the ability and the authority to be king of your life.  Spoiler alert - there is only one who has those qualities.

Scripture:  Colossians 1:1-14 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  This is the second in the series, "Rooted." This series explores what the apostle, Paul, had to say to the church in his letter to the Colossians.  Paul's question to those to whom he wrote then is the same question we must answer:  "What's forming you?"  Something is, but is it what God intended for you?  Is it the good news that Jesus came for the sole purpose of transforming your whole life into a life of joy in loving and being loved.  This good news is for you whoever, wherever are or have been.  Let Him transform you!

Scripture:  Colossians 2:6-7 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Scott begins a new series called "Rooted."  This message is the first one in the series that explores the timeless letter in the New Testament called Colossians.  In this letter, the Apostle Paul challenges the Christians in the city of Colossae to grow in faith and put down deep roots in their belief in the one who saved them, Jesus Christ.  Scott challenges us in the same way with a message meant for all believers throughout all time.

Scripture:  Luke 15 Speaker:  Scott Meyer Summary:  Some months ago the Elders challenged this church with a five-point Vision for the next five years.  In this message, Scott takes the lessons taught in Luke 15 to reinforce our mission as followers of Christ in this community, in this church and in the world.
