God stops John from writing, and instead commands him to eat the scroll, to eat the word of God (Rev. 10). It was sweet to the taste but bitter in his stomach. The Lord's promises are sweet and encouraging to His people, knowing that Jesus is coming soon. But it is bitter to the world, knowing that God’s judgment is at hand...

God is releasing a great judgment upon the earth in the last days, depicted through angels blowing 7 trumpets. Yet in it all, we see a reminder of God's great mercy and a call to action for His Church.

In the middle of great judgment from God, He pauses. In Revelation 7, God stops and "seals" those who are His. It's a beautiful reminder: we are not shielded from tribulation, but for those in Christ, we are forever protected from God's wrath. Jesus took that for us. And we are His, forever...
