What word or words would you use to define yourself? Mother? Father? Student? Dreamer? Adrenaline Junkie? Expectations are everything. As a father I have learned how important it is to set my children’s expectations well in advance before engaging in a day out together. Sometimes it seems like everything and everyone is against us. Nothing is going right. These are the very moments when our faith in God can be its strongest. We may be unable to fix our situation BUT God is not. In our lesson today we find a couple of really BIG BUTS that can encourage us how to respond in what seems to be a hopeless situation.

It is easy to get lazy and inactive in our faith without even realising it. One of the best remedies for that is for a good example to come up along side of us to remind us what a living faith looks like and before we know it our faith is revived and active again. We have such an example to we can gather close to right here in the book of Acts. Let’s take a look at them and see if any rubs off.

I rely upon my GPS. In a city like London and need someone to tell me when to continue on and when to change directions. That is great for my car but how do I know when God wants to change the direction of my life? Peter has just radically changed the direction of the church.
