What impact does Sunday have on the rest of your week? Does it impact how you live through your week, or do you tend to compartmentalize Sunday from the rest of your week? What stood out to you from the message? Read John 17:13-19.  Read Matthew 22:34-40. Thankfully, Jesus is not cryptic when it comes to discerning God’s primary calling in our lives.  What is it you are passionate about that God is passionate about? Are you doing something about that passion? Why or why not?  What next step can you take to lean into the things you’re passionate about? Maybe it’s time to begin praying about it. Is this something that God wants you to act on now? If so, invite Him to open a door. How can you invite your community in to keep you accountable in taking this next step?

How are you encouraged, challenged, or convicted by this passage?  What needs to change in your life in order to live this out?

In creating time to serve you gain something eternal that can never be taken away. Here’s your challenge, serve someone with no strings attached over the next day or two. Jump into serve somewhere at a campus near you. Go above and beyond for someone in your family this week. And watch what God does.

Hebrews was written to a community of Jewish believers who are being persecuted for their faith and beginning to question if it’s worth it to keep following Jesus. They are tempted to turn their back on Him and return to their former Jewish practices. In light of this: For whom in your life are you doing the same?

In other words, when we are utterly dependent on Christ for our identity, worth and value, we can depend on one another in a healthy way.  What is one relationship this week that you can practice sacrificing your way, yielding to them in love, and seeking their interests above your own? Pastor John Burke brings us his last Easter message as Senior Pastor of Gateway. There are many characters in the story about the death and resurrection of Jesus. They are all real people living in a real place, in a specified time for a specified purpose, with real human emotions and motivations. Friday was suppose to be the end of the story. At least that's what they all thought. But they didn't know that Sunday was coming.
