Jack James Ryan's portrayal of nasty drug dealer Jacob Hay has had a lot of Corrie viewers' tongues wagging over the past few weeks, and he's certainly got plenty of people on social media fired up too over the way he's treated Simon, Carla and Leanne. In this interview, which is also available on video here, Michael and Jack talk about what it's been like bringing the character of Jacob to life, how he got into acting, and filming under COVID restrictions.

After going through a bit of a rough patch this past month or so, Corrie definitely felt like it was on the up this week. Getting Paul away from Billy and in with the likes of Daniel and Ed is the best thing that's happened to him for a while, and the Alahans and were back in focus, meaning more great lines from Dev and Aadi and realistic relationship dramas for Asha and Nina; meanwhile, both of the Connors got a big thumbs up from us this week too - Jenny for not putting up with any of Daisy's meddling and Johnny for taking his meds. She may not have been in the show long back in the mid-90s, but thanks to her scheming ways, she's definitely gone down as one of Corrie's most memorable female villains.

It was a long, cold week for Kevin and Debbie after getting trapped in the Bistro fridge last Friday. We imagine that your experience of watching this might have depended quite heavily on how many of the blatant spoilers that were out there you saw as they kind of gave away the ending, but there were at least some lovely bonding moments between the Webster siblings that we could all enjoy. We've reached another milestone in our journey through the Corrie box sets, so for our bonus podcast this week, we have a good old natter about the episodes we've seen from the first half of the 90s. As this is an era that's only recently aired on ITV3, we imagine it's going to be one that many listeners are quite familiar with, but how did the fact that he'd only just watched it a few years ago affect Michael's appreciation of the episodes, and can Gemma keep up with everything from a time which saw an increased number of weekly episodes as well as an explosion of new characters? For our bonus podcast this week, we take a light hearted look back on the very worst that Corrie had to offer over the last twelve months with the Bobbins Awards 2020. From character focused awards like the least convincing villain to the newcomer who made the worst first impression to story-based callouts like the silliest secret and the biggest anti-climax, the Bobbins Awards names and shames everything we felt fell short of the mark in Corrie's 60th year (though all in good fun, of course!).

This week's bonus podcast is split into two main sections. First, we take a look back on 2020 on Corrie as a whole, chatting about what we felt worked and what didn't, how the show dealt with the impact of coronavirus and whether or not the 10,000th episode and 60th anniversary week lived up to expectations. That's followed by our annual predictions segment, where we first look back on what we thought would happen on the show last year and basically find out how wrong we were, before checking the show's tea leaves to see what could be in store for the people of Weatherfield in the year to come.
