Happy New Year everyone! Our first podcast of 2021 covers the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 28th December and the 1st January (Episodes #10206 - 10212). This week, in a revelation that was at least pretty shocking for Gary and Maria even if by that point a good number of viewers might have guessed the Barlow basher wasn't one of the official suspects, Faye reveals herself to be Adam's attacker. In a move that would surely make mum Anna proud that she's following the Windass family tradition of violently attacking someone and managing to get away with it, Faye is persuaded not to hand herself in to the police, but with Gary now DS Willets' number one suspect, will she be able to stay silent? On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 21st and the 25th December (Episodes #10199 - 10205). This week, Christmas comes to Weatherfield and the residents of the Street are marking the occasion the only way they know how: with backstabbing, betrayal and breakups. Fortunately, it's not all gloom and doom, as we also get to enjoy some cosy family time as Toyah and Imran get their first taste of fostering, and David and Shona work through their problems to re-enact their wedding day in the factory. Will their newfound acceptance of each other last, or will David's preference for the old Shona linger like a carroty bunny trump? Only time will tell, but for now at least, it looks like Christmas 2020 was a positive way to end a difficult year. Each month on Patreon, we release a bonus show centred around a particular Top 5. In this episode, originally recorded back in January, we count down our Top 5 most wanted 60th anniversary gimmicks. Based on an idea from a lovely listener, we came up with lists of what we'd want to see ITV making to mark Corrie's 60th anniversary, and not just a plain old live episode either - this was the chance to let our imaginations run wild! Now that the anniversary's actually over, we thought it might be fun for you to see what might have been - and indeed, if we actually got any of our wishes! There's plenty of dodgy activity going on this week as the suspects in Adam's attempted murder case scrabble around to cover their tracks and make sure they have an alibi for the evening. The jury's still out on whether it was one of ITV's official suspects or if it was someone like Simon or even Faye, but we know one thing for sure: even if Gary didn't do it, he could still be in for a visit from the police if Sarah gets her wish and Rick Neelan's body is found. The end of 2020 is nearly here, which means the return of the Conversation Street Awards! The past twelve months have seen their fair share of heroes and villains on the cobbles, but which characters and storylines are most deserving of praise? With COVID-19 impacting the number of episodes produced, the way filming is done and the sort of scenes that can be shot, it's not necessarily been as easy as usual to come up with nominations for all the awards (thank goodness at least some characters got into fights in the first half of the year!), but we still think there are some tough choices to be made in most of the categories!   Results will be revealed in our annual awards show around New Year, but first, have a listen to us discussing the nominees then pick your winners!  The listener poll count for two thirds of the overall vote, and Gemma and Michael will get the rest, so make sure you cast your vote!

For this week's bonus podcast, we share our thoughts on Corrie between 1985 and 1989 as we finally reach the halfway point in the show's history so far. This was the period we said hello to the likes of Jenny and Sally, and bid a sad farewell to Hilda. It was all change at the Rovers with a new landlady and a new look following the 1986 fire, and with big stories including Brian's stabbing and Alan Bradley's reign of terror, there's certainly no lack of material for us to chat about!

Leanne may not have been willing to admit it, but the inevitable events of Friday's heart-breaking episodes have been on the cards for quite some time now, but that certainly didn't make them any less enjoyable to watch - indeed, the sad scenes where Steve and Leanne said their final goodbyes to their son were among the actors' very best, and, supported by spectacular performances from the rest of the cast, made for a truly powerful end to the week. This week's bonus podcast sees the return of the listener questions segment, where we share our thoughts about two more topics. Firstly, Jon wants to know which character the producers made the biggest mistake in writing out or killing off. From Martha Longhurst's controversial demise in the Rovers snug to some of the more recent swings of the producer's axe, we ponder which decisions might not have been for the best. After that, we chat about an idea sent in by Rebecca, who wants to know what we would do if we were in charge of producing a special feature length Corrie film for the 60th anniversary. Standalone episode, documentary or something else entirely, we muse over a whole variety of options before deciding on our favourite. Now if someone could just lend us $100k, we'll get right on it..!

With the Oliver storyline only getting the occasional scene in these episodes, the focus was put squarely on the tried and tested soap trope of a love triangle this week, its members being Carla, Peter and Adam. Did it bring anything new to the table, or was it just as predictable as Peter's inevitable succumbence to the  sauce? For our bonus podcast this week, we take a look at the character of Violet Wilson, whose name's been brought up on the show more than once in recent weeks thanks to her and Sean's son Dylan making a return to the street. We take a look at what she got up to during her time on Corrie, including her involvement in Charlie and Shelley's domestic abuse story and her relationship with Jamie Baldwin, and we uncover a few interesting titbits about the original plans for the character, which would have taken her down a very different route to the one she ended up on!

On the podcast this week, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 13th November (Episodes #10163 - 10168). If you've been as invested in the Oliver story as we have for the past few months, there'll have been a lot for you to love this week. Despite the fact we all knew the judge's verdict was only ever going to go one way, watching the reactions of the characters involved was no less compelling than any surprise twist would have been; indeed, seeing Leanne unable to accept the crushing inevitability of it all made some smashing TV, and we're sure many a tear was shed up and down the country on Friday night! And while the end seems close for Oliver, life goes on for the other residents of the street this week, including a new opportunity for Sean and Michael, a new romance in the factory between Adam and Alina, and a new archdeacon of Weatherfield (and his semi-nude boyfriend). The full set of results for Corriepedia's Ultimate Character survey are finally in, and in our bonus podcast this week, we take a look at who are the most loved characters in the Top 30. The battle for number one was always going to be fierce, but we don't think there'll be many a Corrie fan who'd say that the ultimate victor wasn't deserving of a spot near the top. As for the rest - well, you'll just have to listen to hear our reactions! As a bit of a bonus, we also take a look at some supplementary stats from the survey, including which characters got the most votes, who were the most divisive, and who were the biggest climbers since the 50th anniversary survey.

On this weekend's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 2nd and the 6th November (Episodes #10,157 - 10,162). We really did quite enjoy this week's episodes. Like many other viewers, we'd guessed that Debbie might have been working alongside Ray to buy up the Street, but the way it was handled, including her fake tears to Kevin and her mock admiration of Sally's garden furniture and puce top (or was it just pink?) made it a whole lot of fun to watch. On top of that, we had Emma's heart-wrenching confession to the police, Leanne's stubborn, but understandable, denial in the face of Oliver's hopeless situation, and the lower stakes but still very relatable character drama in the Alahan household. Great stuff! As full of praise for the show and her fellow cast members as she is hilarious anecdotes, Matilda was a real pleasure to have a natter with - this is one interview you won't want to miss!

Weatherfield's seemingly decided to give Halloween a miss this year, although it looks like nobody's told Scott, who decides to unleash his own unique brand of trick or treating on the Bistro this week.
