  • Conversation Street Episode 451

    02/01/2021 Duración: 03h22min

Happy New Year everyone! Our first podcast of 2021 covers the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 28th December and the 1st January (Episodes #10206 - 10212). This week, in a revelation that was at least pretty shocking for Gary and Maria even if by that point a good number of viewers might have guessed the Barlow basher wasn't one of the official suspects, Faye reveals herself to be Adam's attacker. In a move that would surely make mum Anna proud that she's following the Windass family tradition of violently attacking someone and managing to get away with it, Faye is persuaded not to hand herself in to the police, but with Gary now DS Willets' number one suspect, will she be able to stay silent? Also this week, Peter's given another worrying diagnosis when he's taken to hospital after coughing up blood, Arthur gets a frosty reception when he turns up with a Christmas present for Evelyn, and Todd's plan to make Paul look like an idiot goes so well, you'd be mistaken for wondering if young Mr Fo

  • Conversation Street Episode 450

    27/12/2020 Duración: 03h11min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 21st and the 25th December (Episodes #10199 - 10205). This week, Christmas comes to Weatherfield and the residents of the Street are marking the occasion the only way they know how: with backstabbing, betrayal and breakups. Fortunately, it's not all gloom and doom, as we also get to enjoy some cosy family time as Toyah and Imran get their first taste of fostering, and David and Shona work through their problems to re-enact their wedding day in the factory. Will their newfound acceptance of each other last, or will David's preference for the old Shona linger like a carroty bunny trump? Only time will tell, but for now at least, it looks like Christmas 2020 was a positive way to end a difficult year. We round off the podcast with a new iTunes review, some comments about our recent discussion of the late 80s on Corrie, and more theories on who bashed Adam in the feedback section. • Festive Listener Questions - Episode 450

    26/12/2020 Duración: 56min

For this week's bonus episode, we thought it might be fun to answer some Christmas themed questions sent in by our listeners. What would Corrie characters get from their Secret Santa? Who would we invite round for Christmas lunch? What does Christmas on Coronation Street mean to us? What does Dirk do during the festive period? All these topics and more are covered in this special edition of the podcast!

  • Bonus Christmas Episode From Our Patreon Vault!

    24/12/2020 Duración: 01h08min

Merry Christmas everyone! As an extra treat for you this year, we thought we'd upload one of our previously Patreon exclusive bonus episodes onto our main feed! Each month on Patreon, we release a bonus show centred around a particular Top 5. In this episode, originally recorded back in January, we count down our Top 5 most wanted 60th anniversary gimmicks. Based on an idea from a lovely listener, we came up with lists of what we'd want to see ITV making to mark Corrie's 60th anniversary, and not just a plain old live episode either - this was the chance to let our imaginations run wild! Now that the anniversary's actually over, we thought it might be fun for you to see what might have been - and indeed, if we actually got any of our wishes! We hope you enjoy this little taste of our Patreon content, and of course, we'd like to take the opportunity to thank all our patrons for their ongoing support.

  • Conversation Street Episode 449

    19/12/2020 Duración: 02h39min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 14th and the 18th December (Episodes #10193 - 10198). There's plenty of dodgy activity going on this week as the suspects in Adam's attempted murder case scrabble around to cover their tracks and make sure they have an alibi for the evening. The jury's still out on whether it was one of ITV's official suspects or if it was someone like Simon or even Faye, but we know one thing for sure: even if Gary didn't do it, he could still be in for a visit from the police if Sarah gets her wish and Rick Neelan's body is found. Meanwhile, Debbie tries to find a compromise with the local rabble raisers, Paul's on call, and it looks like Toyah and Imran might be in line for an extra special Christmas.. In The Kabin, we share our early impressions of the new Corrie app (to which we're both hopelessly addicted, but we promise that's not the reason behind this podcast's lateness!) and we finish off the show with more of your listener feedb

  • Conversation Street Awards 2020 Nominations - Episode 449

    19/12/2020 Duración: 01h14min

The end of 2020 is nearly here, which means the return of the Conversation Street Awards! The past twelve months have seen their fair share of heroes and villains on the cobbles, but which characters and storylines are most deserving of praise? With COVID-19 impacting the number of episodes produced, the way filming is done and the sort of scenes that can be shot, it's not necessarily been as easy as usual to come up with nominations for all the awards (thank goodness at least some characters got into fights in the first half of the year!), but we still think there are some tough choices to be made in most of the categories!   Results will be revealed in our annual awards show around New Year, but first, have a listen to us discussing the nominees then pick your winners!  The listener poll count for two thirds of the overall vote, and Gemma and Michael will get the rest, so make sure you cast your vote!

  • Conversation Street Episode 448

    12/12/2020 Duración: 03h26min

On our special 60th anniversary edition of the podcast, we chat about the goings on on the cobbles between the 7th and the 11th December (Episodes #10187 - 10192) The diggers are revving their engines this week as Ray orders the demolition of the brewery, but when a plucky Abi commandeers one of the machines and plunges the street into blackness, the stage is set for one of Corrie's darkest weeks in a good while. From Imran's impassioned speech in court to the rooftop drama with Geoff and the surprise twist at the end of Friday's episode that will no doubt keep everyone guessing until the end of the year and beyond, there's a lot of ground to cover in this week's Street Talk, but the big question is, did it live up to all the hype? In The Kabin, we share our thoughts on some of Corrie's special programmes that have been put out to mark the anniversary both on and offline, including Monday's 60 Unforgettable Years documentary and of course, the very welcome return of Corrie Good News.  Finally, we round off th

  • Sally Dynevor Interview - Episode 448

    12/12/2020 Duración: 32min

For our bonus podcast this week, we're thrilled to be joined by Street legend Sally Dynevor, who talks to us about her highlights from her 35 years on the show playing Sally. We find out what it was like to work alongside Jean Alexander in those early years, learn what she really thinks about playing such a snobbish character, and pick her brains about what it is that she thinks has kept the ex-mayor of Weatherfield so fresh for all these years. What a treat for Corrie's 60th anniversary week!

  • Conversation Street Episode 447

    05/12/2020 Duración: 03h32min

On our latest podcast, we have a good old chat about what went on in Corrie between the 30th November and the 4th December (Episodes #10175 - 10180). It's the week of Yasmeen's trial, and with Geoff doing whatever he can to derail the case, Imran's got his work cut out if he wants her to stand a chance of being released in time for the 60th anniversary celebrations next week.. Meanwhile, Abi dons her superhero costume once again after discovering Ray's plans to knock down half the street, but has she left it too late to stop him - and as viewers, have we been given enough reason to care either way? Also this week, Peter grows suspicious of Carla, Daisy does her best to come between Jenny and Johnny, and Oliver says his final goodbyes to Weatherfield in the back of a red taxi. The Corrie news is coming thick and fast at the moment, and The Kabin sees us discussing a variety of topics including the upcoming mobile game, William Roache's fabulous new portrait, and this week's parliamentary debate on our favourit

  • Feature Discussion: 1985-1989 - Episode 447

    05/12/2020 Duración: 01h41min

For this week's bonus podcast, we share our thoughts on Corrie between 1985 and 1989 as we finally reach the halfway point in the show's history so far. This was the period we said hello to the likes of Jenny and Sally, and bid a sad farewell to Hilda. It was all change at the Rovers with a new landlady and a new look following the 1986 fire, and with big stories including Brian's stabbing and Alan Bradley's reign of terror, there's certainly no lack of material for us to chat about!

  • Conversation Street Episode 446

    28/11/2020 Duración: 02h54min

On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 23rd and the 27th November (Episodes #10169 - 10174). Leanne may not have been willing to admit it, but the inevitable events of Friday's heart-breaking episodes have been on the cards for quite some time now, but that certainly didn't make them any less enjoyable to watch - indeed, the sad scenes where Steve and Leanne said their final goodbyes to their son were among the actors' very best, and, supported by spectacular performances from the rest of the cast, made for a truly powerful end to the week. Also this week, it looks like it could be the end of the road for Johnny and Jenny (Nooo!), villainous Ray and Geoff strike a deal (Boo!) and things are still tough between Peter and Carla (Meh..) In the Kabin, we celebrate Corrie's wins at the Inside Soap Awards and cast a critical eye on the newly unveiled pieces of artwork to mark the 60th anniversary, then we round off the podcast with more of your listener feedb

  • Listener Questions - Episode 446

    28/11/2020 Duración: 01h03min

This week's bonus podcast sees the return of the listener questions segment, where we share our thoughts about two more topics. Firstly, Jon wants to know which character the producers made the biggest mistake in writing out or killing off. From Martha Longhurst's controversial demise in the Rovers snug to some of the more recent swings of the producer's axe, we ponder which decisions might not have been for the best. After that, we chat about an idea sent in by Rebecca, who wants to know what we would do if we were in charge of producing a special feature length Corrie film for the 60th anniversary. Standalone episode, documentary or something else entirely, we muse over a whole variety of options before deciding on our favourite. Now if someone could just lend us $100k, we'll get right on it..!

  • Conversation Street Episode 445

    21/11/2020 Duración: 03h28min

On our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 16th and the 20th November (Episodes #10,169 - 10,174). With the Oliver storyline only getting the occasional scene in these episodes, the focus was put squarely on the tried and tested soap trope of a love triangle this week, its members being Carla, Peter and Adam. Did it bring anything new to the table, or was it just as predictable as Peter's inevitable succumbence to the  sauce? Meanwhile, Craig's in a bind when he discovers Ray's dastardly plans to bring a touch of gentrification to Weatherfield, and Billy's mad at Paul when he catches him deacon around in his new robes. Corrie's 60th anniversary promo has kicked off in earnest this week, and in The Kabin, we've got a new official cast photo, a new trailer and yes, even a new Co-op bag to share our thoughts on. We round the show off with the feedback section, where the hot topic of the week is how our listeners first got into Corrie. Street Talk - 00:22:10

  • Violet Wilson Character Profile - Episode 445

    21/11/2020 Duración: 34min

For our bonus podcast this week, we take a look at the character of Violet Wilson, whose name's been brought up on the show more than once in recent weeks thanks to her and Sean's son Dylan making a return to the street. We take a look at what she got up to during her time on Corrie, including her involvement in Charlie and Shelley's domestic abuse story and her relationship with Jamie Baldwin, and we uncover a few interesting titbits about the original plans for the character, which would have taken her down a very different route to the one she ended up on!

  • Conversation Street Episode 444

    14/11/2020 Duración: 03h04min

On the podcast this week, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 13th November (Episodes #10163 - 10168). If you've been as invested in the Oliver story as we have for the past few months, there'll have been a lot for you to love this week. Despite the fact we all knew the judge's verdict was only ever going to go one way, watching the reactions of the characters involved was no less compelling than any surprise twist would have been; indeed, seeing Leanne unable to accept the crushing inevitability of it all made some smashing TV, and we're sure many a tear was shed up and down the country on Friday night! And while the end seems close for Oliver, life goes on for the other residents of the street this week, including a new opportunity for Sean and Michael, a new romance in the factory between Adam and Alina, and a new archdeacon of Weatherfield (and his semi-nude boyfriend). In the Kabin segment of the podcast, we peruse the catalogue of Julie Goodyear's jewellery that

  • We React To The Top 30 In Corriepedia's Ultimate Character Survey - Episode 444

    14/11/2020 Duración: 02h53min

The full set of results for Corriepedia's Ultimate Character survey are finally in, and in our bonus podcast this week, we take a look at who are the most loved characters in the Top 30. The battle for number one was always going to be fierce, but we don't think there'll be many a Corrie fan who'd say that the ultimate victor wasn't deserving of a spot near the top. As for the rest - well, you'll just have to listen to hear our reactions! As a bit of a bonus, we also take a look at some supplementary stats from the survey, including which characters got the most votes, who were the most divisive, and who were the biggest climbers since the 50th anniversary survey.

  • Conversation Street Episode 443

    07/11/2020 Duración: 03h02min

On this weekend's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 2nd and the 6th November (Episodes #10,157 - 10,162). We really did quite enjoy this week's episodes. Like many other viewers, we'd guessed that Debbie might have been working alongside Ray to buy up the Street, but the way it was handled, including her fake tears to Kevin and her mock admiration of Sally's garden furniture and puce top (or was it just pink?) made it a whole lot of fun to watch. On top of that, we had Emma's heart-wrenching confession to the police, Leanne's stubborn, but understandable, denial in the face of Oliver's hopeless situation, and the lower stakes but still very relatable character drama in the Alahan household. Great stuff! Up next on the podcast we head over to The Kabin, where we're joined by Corrie expert Mark Llewellin, who chats about the exciting new project he's launching for charity alongside a host of stars including Julie Goodyear to celebrate the Street's 60th anniversary. We rou

  • Matilda Freeman Interview - Conversation Street Episode 443

    07/11/2020 Duración: 32min

For our bonus podcast this week, we're joined by Matilda Freeman, who's spent the past three and a half years playing the role of Summer Spellman. Matilda explains why the time now feels right for her to move on to pastures new, reflects back on some of her favourite moments working on the show, and shares what it's like being a child actor on the nation's favourite street. As full of praise for the show and her fellow cast members as she is hilarious anecdotes, Matilda was a real pleasure to have a natter with - this is one interview you won't want to miss!

  • Conversation Street Episode 442

    01/11/2020 Duración: 03h07min

This week on the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 26th and the 30th October (Episodes #10,151 - 10,156). Weatherfield's seemingly decided to give Halloween a miss this year, although it looks like nobody's told Scott, who decides to unleash his own unique brand of trick or treating on the Bistro this week. Speaking of tricks, Geoff takes advantage of Alya's less than subtle hinting that she's going to follow him to find out what he's up to, and leads her a bit of a merry dance at the Bistro, and there's a shock in store for Evelyn when Arthur reveals what's really been keeping him from committing. Next up on the podcast, we've got quite a busy Kabin segment, though what keeps us chatting the longest is of course the news that Matilda Freeman has left the show. We finish off the show with more of your feedback, including giving one particularly frustrated listener the chance to get more than a few issues off her chest.
