On this week's episode of Top Five Movies, we are mixing up the format. To ensure that we can do this podcast for a long time, we want to start having guests on the show. On these episodes, Jonathan, Corey, and Michael will have some conversations and ask some movie specific questions. The episode will conclude with our guest breaking down their all time Top Five Movies. We were fortunate to have Jordan Brady for our inaugural episode. He is the director of I am Comic, I am Road Comic, and I am battle Comic, Dill Scallion, The Third Wheel, American Girl, Waking up in Reno, and the Maria Bamford: the Special Special Special, and also hosts the podcast Respect the Process. Unfortunately, Michael wasn't able to be on this episode, but Jonathan and Corey had a great time talking with Jordan. The focus of episode 043 is Eraserhead (1977). Directed and written by David Lynch the films star Jack Nance and Charlotte Stewart. Neither Jonathan nor Corey had seen this film, and it is how they decided to end the month of horror movies. There is no question that this movie delivers on the horror. Episode 042 features The Howling (1981) directed by Joe Dante starring Dee Wallace, Patrick Macnee, Dennis Dugan, Christopher Stone, and Belinda Balaski. Jonathan and Corey had never seen this film, but are both fans of American Werewolf in London (1981). The theory is you'll only be a fan of one of these films. Does that hold true for these two? The new film Geostorm comes out this week so Jonathan, Corey, and Michael decided to build their top five disaster movie list. Berk Reviews Movie Club Episode 041 - The Fly (1958) Episode 041 features Jonathan and Corey reviewing the Fly from 1958. It is directed by Kurt Neumann and stars David Hedison, Patricia Owens, Herbert Marshall, and Vincent Price. Jonathan is a big fan of 1986 version of the film so he wanted to check out this earlier version. They also look at what's coming out on home video and in theaters. Quite possibly, the most specific reference to a film our topics have been. Episode 068 is our favorite Replicants, or imposters to speak non-Blade Runner lingo. Berk Reviews Movie Club episode 039 - Suspiria Suspiria, directed by Dario Argento and stars Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini, Flavio Bucci, Miguel Bose, and Barbara Magnolfi, is a beloved slasher from 1977. Jonathan had never seen it and Corey had only seen it once. It's the first of five horror episodes being released in October, but did this one live up to the hype? Listen to hear their thoughts. Michael and I were both impacted by Hurricane Irma to some degree. Since the storm hit on Sunday, when the group usually records TFM, we had to postpone this weeks episode. However, I decided to do a mini-episode and tell everyone we were okay as well as do my Top Five Movies not to watch during, or before, a hurricane! Berk Reviews Movie Club episode 035 - Phantasm (1979) Episode 035 features Jonathan and Corey's review of Phantasm. The film from 1979 was remastered and released last year and currently has a 72 on meta critic. It was written and directed by Don Coscarelli starring A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, and Angus Scrimm. The big question is did Jonathan and Corey like this or did this often beloved cult classic miss the mark for them. Berk Reviews Movie Club episode 034 - The Wrestler Episode 034 of Movie Club focuses on Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler. The film stars Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood. Neither Jonathan or Corey had seen it before, at least not in its entirety. It does a great job of showing the hardships of wrestling.
