At West Side we always strive to point people to the person and work of Jesus Christ because we truly believe that the Bible, the world and your life is all about Jesus! The goal of our series in the book of Colossians is to paint a clear picture of how the Bible portrays Jesus and what that means for us today. What is the opposite of 'faith?' Many of us would reply that the opposite of faith is fdoubt: but we would be wrong. The opposite of faith is control. Many of us realized just how little we were in control of in the 2020 year and we  feel paralyzed and frozen in fear from the pains and losses we experienced in 2020.  Do things have to stay that way? What would it look like to live this new year without fear? As a follower of Jesus Christ, what would it be like to live without any fear in this new year? The only thing we can be sure of in the coming year is that everything is uncertain. How we choose to handle that uncertainty, however, is something we can control. Join us as we go through Habakkuk 3:16-19 to see how in any circumstance we can choose to wait for the Lord, rejoice in the Lord, and rely on the Lord in 2021.

Why did Jesus, God in the flesh, come to the earth? Throughout this series we've been asking the question, 'Why would anyone want to come here?' and we've seen that God came to the earth to reveal His glory and to restore His creation, but what does that have to do with us? Join us as we see the core of the Christmas Story and how Jesus came to the hearth to rescue his people from their sins. It's all about Jesus!

Our lives are like artwork. With all of the disease, death, division and distance, we can look around and see that we need help: but why would anyone want to come here to help? The good news of the Christmas story is that God came down to us in Jesus Christ... but why? Why would GOD want to come here? Join us in Isaiah 6:1-13 as we start our 2020 Advent Series: SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS It's all about Jesus!

There are two primary ways of communication between God and us as believers. God speaks to us, (the Bible,)  and we speak to God, (in prayer.) Why is prayer so important? What should we say when we pray? How long is does a good prayer last? Am I doing prayer correctly? Jesus Christ was the greatest life ever lived, and thereby the greatest person to ever pray. Last week we learned our penultimate axiom, 'THE GOAL OF DISCIPLESHIP IS DIVINE UNION.' Jelly on the bottom shelf: the goal of our relationship with Jesus is to be in unity with God and with one another, and this union is supernatural and motivated by God's love.  If this goal is motivated by love, we must LEARN how to love this way as we live our lives to the glory of God and the good of our neighbors. How do we learn this love? That is our final axiom. We learn this love through participating in the work that God is already doing in our lives and the lives of those around us! Join us in Matthew 7:24=29 as we discover our final axiom and strive to live our lives truly believing God's love for us and one another, and how this love truly is all about Jesus.

If our aim as believers is to become more fully formed followers of Jesus Christ, (disciples,) then what is the actual goal of discipleship? What was God's plan for us as humans on earth who love and follow Jesus? Join us as we continue our journey through AXIOMS and discover how the goal of discipleship is actually to be divinely unified with God and one another! John 17:20-26

"I want God to use me." This is a phrase many of us are undoubtedly familiar with, but what does this really mean? "I want God to use me" sounds like a good prayer, and God will often answer this prayer, but there is an important step we often miss that should take place before we say or pray "God, use me." Long before God uses you to impact a person, place or community, He will first do that same work inside of you.  This is our 5th AXIOM: WHAT GOD DOES THROUGH YOU HE ALSO DOES IN YOU.
