Today we are thrilled to welcome our guests, father and daughter duo, Alois Huf and Cristie Jo Huf Johnson, to celebrate the release of their new book, "Escape to Freedom: The Real-Life Events of One Man’s Relentless Pursuit for Freedom." Written as a novel, Escape to Freedom, is the story of Alois’ courageous escape from Czechoslovakia in 1949 as an eighteen-year-old during WWII, being put in refugee camps, his miraculous meeting & marriage with Poldie, and eventual move to the US, when they moved their family to Grandville, MI in 1956, and built a successful Michigan business.  For eighteen years Alois has volunteered in the Ottawa County Jail three days a week and has personally led 2,100 men to faith in Jesus Christ.    

Today, we are so excited to have Jo Saxton as our guest to discuss her new book, "Ready to Rise: Own Your Voice, Gather Your Community, Step into Your Influence". Saxton tackles the real-life issues—from harassment and sexism to self-doubt and loneliness—that can discourage and derail women from leading in the areas God has called them to. Jo Saxton invites women to own their voice and boldly advance God’s goodness in the world!

We are so focused on the immediate threat and the fear of what could be, that we are not surrendering our minds and shifting our eyes to a God who has the power to handle every single need that we face. Our world is in the midst of a global pandemic and many of us are wondering how we are going to move forward from social distancing and quarantining.  Jesus’ followers wondered how they were going to move forward after He ascended into heaven; His response to their question was to send them out into the world to be ambassadors for His cause.  Autumn discusses how Jesus’ response will be the same to us in today’s podcast.

Scarlet shares how when you hold up the Gospel to your fears, you don’t have to be afraid of all the things.

With the COVID-19 pandemic eating up our news feed, we can be tempted to forget how God has and does provide for His people.  Autumn gives several Scriptural examples of God’s overwhelming and intimate provision for his people materially, emotionally, and spiritually in today’s podcast.  God is not intimidated by COVID-19 and will provide for you in the midst of it all.  

Today, we are honored to have our guest Ph. D. Karen Swallow Prior to talk about her new project called “A Guide to Reading & Reflecting”. In this project, Karen wrote introductions to some of the great literary works such as “Sense and Sensibility” and helps Christians understand how to approach these works as a believer. 

We can sometimes talk ourselves out of some of the greatest blessings that God wants to give us just like the ten Israelite spies talked the entire nation out of taking the land of Canaan.  When God tells us to proceed with plans in life, DO IT! Don’t let the “spies in your mind” control your future, let God’s voice control it and reap the blessings He offers.

God’s intervention in your life may look like an ill-timed event or an irresponsible action.  Learn how to discern the Holy Spirit’s movement in your life, even when it’s inconvenient. Don’t worship a calendar; leave space for the suddenly of God.

She joins us today to share about her latest book which chronicles her story and escape from human trafficking, and later assisting the FBI in cases across the country to help bring other women to freedom. Bender shares with us a gripping reality that is happening in our cities cross America. 

When God delays, there is a reason. If you feel a resistance in your spirit to move forward with any action, trust His spirit within you and do not move forward.  Learn through Biblical evidence and Autumn’s personal stories how God leads and guides through delays. Trust His timing since He is always working for your good.

God will move us out of the “comfortable” into areas that are not comfortable, but profitable.  Don’t let your American sense of comfort interfere with the spiritual vistas into which God is leading you.  Learn how to do that in today’s podcast.  

Sometimes God prunes “stuff” from our life that we will not. Rather than focus on what was pruned, which is our natural reaction, focus on what He allows to remain.  If God leaves something in your life, it is bearing or wants to bear fruit. Focus on what remains to bring glory to God.
