Tim Geraci of “The Saga Continues” Star Wars podcast (that would be my fave) is literally the coolest Star Wars fan you can imagine — critical and clear-eyed but hopeful and optimistic. Tim really did not connect to THE LAST JEDI on first viewing but he reserved judgment, talked to friends, and saw it a couple more times, and ended up loving the movie. Even if he didn’t, we’d respect the hell out of his opinion, but listening to his emotional journey in reconciling THE LAST JEDI and specifically the journey of Luke Skywalker is truly inspiring, interesting, and of course occasionally hilarious. “Out of Darkness” (s01e07) centers around the veteran captain of the Ghost, Hera Syndulla, and the young and feisty weapons specialist Sabine Wren undertaking a mission to meet their primary informant, "Fulcrum,” who Syndulla has been in frequent contact with for information about the Galactic Empire and ways to steal weapons and supplies from the Bad Guys. Wren, who did not know about "Fulcrum," feels that she is not trusted, and this is the first episode where we see fully fleshed out performances by both Hera and Sabine, who are both amazing Star Wars characters. What a day for Star Wars Rebels! A great start to the fourth and final season airs all day today on Disney XP on cable and app, the two parter Legacy of Mandalore, wherein Sabine kicks major ass with the Darksaber, Ezra can’t figure out his rocket pack, and THERE’S A ROMANTIC SCENE BETWEEN KANAN AND HERA??! But for now, enjoy my commentary for one of my favorite episodes of the series, “Rise of the Old Masters” (s01e05). Kanan continues to train Ezra in the ways of the Force, but both become frustrated with each other and their new roles. Meanwhile, an underground transmission reveals that a Jedi Master, long thought dead, is alive and in Imperial custody.
