  • Nobody Special 045 Kavanaugh and The Angry Mob of Incivility

    12/10/2018 Duración: 01h05min

This week the body of Nobody Special talk about their past weeks and vacations. Apparently Danny doesn't know how to relax on vacation and Caleb has a hard time being Danny taking care of his doggo. Then we finally weigh in on the controversial issue of Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford. We should be able to listen to both sides while still showing grace to the other. We can believe one while still caring about the soul of the other. The church should be the light in the darkness for all the world to see. Then we read through 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22, ESV for Bible Bros and Scripture Sisters. We look at a timely word for 2018 and how the church can represent Christ during the times that everyone should listen to. Do you want your question to be featured on the show? Reach out to us on our website or on our facebook or instagram. We would love to hear your thoughts. The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt

  • Nobody Special 044 A Return to Parkland and A Look At Drugs

    28/09/2018 Duración: 01h16min

Well... we recording this episode early and then it became an intense week of politics. Oh well. We can't win them all. Instead we look at Cameron Kasky from March For Our Lives and his decision to step down from the board. In a weird turn of events, Cameron gave an interview with FoxNews Radio. For the first time, the boys of Nobody Special feel hopeful for the future of the students of Majorie Stoneman Douglas High School and what the next generation can do to bridge the gap of disunity. Then we talk about drugs. After two women sell edible baked goods at a church bake sale, we get into whether or not taking drugs is in keeping with our faith. Just because something is no longer illegal, doesn't mean that Christians should partake in it. Instead, we should stand as an example to the world of what pursuing God looks like, even in the face of cultural opposition. You won't want to miss this one. The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special See acast.com/privacy

  • Nobody Special 043 Williams Kaepernick and Two Nerds

    14/09/2018 Duración: 01h07min

This week the boys of Nobody Special talk about sports. Yes, that's right, sports. I know, we are surprised too, especially knowing how nerdy they are. But we look at anger from a sports perspective and see what Colin Kaepernick and Serena Williams can say to Christians and how we can respond when our feels get heated. At all times, we must continue to live as Christians. Also, we open up letters from listeners with a great letter from Alex Mr. Che Che. You won't want to miss out on this fun debate on how old the earth is and what to do when people disagree. Spoilers: you don't automatically ostracize them. Please forgive our tiredness for today. We are recording way later than we normally do. Been binging preachers all week and working hard. For you guys. Thanks to all you listeners who tune in week after week. If you want your questions or comments to be read on the show, be sure and submit a question. Also, check out our facebook, twitter, an

  • Nobody Special 042 Humble or Be Humbled

    31/08/2018 Duración: 01h11min

There is something humbling about being humbled. While it's never a fun process, the boys of Nobody Special talk about the times when they have been humble and been humbled. In the end, everyone will one day bow before God, the difference will only be on what side of eternity we stand. This week we look at some of the moments where Caleb and Danny endured tough times and came out stronger in the process. We talk about where to find your identity and what it means to stand with one another, all while growing closer to God in the process. This episode does get personal but we wanted to share because we don't think we are the only people who have gone through things. After all, we are merely Nobody Special. Also we look at the current events across the country and in our own back yard. We talk about the shooting at the Landing in Jacksonville, Florida and the tragedy of the pastor who committed suicide in California. Please be sure and keep that family and church in your p

  • Nobody Special 041 Cutting Out Toxic People Just Like Jesus

    17/08/2018 Duración: 01h07min

Have you noticed an increase in people saying they are Cutting Out Toxic People on facebook? The boys of Nobody Special have and we are talking about how scriptural this is. Why You Should Cut Toxic People Out, Just Like JesusDisagreement Has ALWAYS Been A Bad Thing.  Hurt People Hurt People, So Hurt Them First to Be Sure I Don’t Get Hurt. I’ve Never Been Toxic, Why Should I Have To Deal With Toxic?Face Problems Head On? No. Head On Outta There. It's Whats Jesus Did Dying on the Cross, Right? If you didn't interpret the last thing as sarcasm, this may not be the podcast for you. Next we mourn with the actions of Willow Creek and celebrate with the actions of Saddleback. A great comparison of what happens when churches focus on the mission in front of them. Finally we close the episode out with a phenomenal round of Bible Bros where we look at Jeremiah 10:2-6. Special shoutout to the Instagram page Deuteronomemes for exposing me to the Veggie Tales Remix by Shama.&nb

  • Nobody Special 040 Guardians Of The James Gunn

    03/08/2018 Duración: 01h11min

This week Danny goes on an emotional roller coaster, going through everything that makes him cry. But then we go back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all the changes that have gone on this week. James Gunn has been let go from Guardians of the Galaxy and we think that idea is terrible. People need grace. Also, people need other people. We look at how the the cast stood with their friend and how Christians can be there for one another. Also, we give a special thank you to everyone who is going off to college and everywhere else. We appreciate the friends and everyone God has put in our lives. Talking points this week includeGuardians of the Galaxy and firing James Gunn while the cast comes to his support all without condoning his previous behavior. Letters from Listeners: Classic Joni writes in what our stance is on the Sokovia Accords from Captain America Civil War. Bible Bros! Ecclesiastes 4:7-16 and what it means to be a part of a family and a

  • Nobody Special 039 Fortnite, Firing Kathleen Kennedy, and Filippians

    20/07/2018 Duración: 01h08min

The boys get nerdy this week. With everything going on in current events, we take a break from the disaster of politics and international situations to look at pop culture. Why? Because everyone is yelling on the internet but no one is sure what anyone else is saying. Talking points this week includeFortnite Season 5 and whether or not this game is actually good. Firing Kathleen Kennedy and the Star Wars mess we seem to have gotten ourselves into. Also, whether we should be so rash to rush to judgment. Philippians and what it means to have our victory in Jesus Christ. We want to hear from you and whether you are trying to trim down with Danny or how God is speaking to you. Be sure you follow us on social media and tell your friends about us. Also, if you wanna ask us questions, send us message! The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special. • Nobody Special 038 JD Greear and The Scum of The Earth

    06/07/2018 Duración: 01h02min

This title is so misleading. JD Greear, if you are listening to this podcast its not what it sounds like. Congrats on becoming the new President of the Southern Baptist Church. The boys of Nobody Special look at decoupling the SBC from the GOP. Furthermore, we look at the role of the politics and the church and how the two should interact with one another. Ideally, the church should be a welcoming place to all people no matter their political background or anything else. Speaking of... the church Scum of The Earthin Denver, Colorado is worth talking about. They seem to be reaching out to the lost and broken and those who feel like they have no home. This church was truly surprising to research and check into. The church should be reaching the unreachable just as Christ reached us. And, we introduce our new segment; Bible Bros! Yes, thats right, we take scripture and talk about it. Tons of fun and not that complicated. To start off, we look at th

    29/06/2018 Duración: 05min

Well guys, the boys of Nobody Special are back at it again! And by at it again, we mean that we are completely messing up this episode. While recording, our equipment just straight up fell apart. Seriously. Just fell apart. So we are taking this as a sign from God to just do something else. • Nobody Special 037: Would Jesus Ride a Donkey or a Falcon?

    15/06/2018 Duración: 01h06min

It's been a busy few weeks since Caleb and Danny last recorded. For the most part, the boys of Nobody Special ignore most of it. Although, we do want to wish a congratulations on JD Greear on becoming the next President of the Southern Baptist Church. All this admits the fact that inviting Mike Pence to speak at the event turned it largely political. Speaking of politics, Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un met this past week in an historic event towards peace. Naturally, everyone is upset by this. Makes sense right? We look at right, wrong, and objectivity while encouraging people to maintain their faith. Finally, we look at the ludicrous statements made by Jesse Duplantis regarding buying a jet, that Jesus wouldn't ride a donkey but ride in the lap of luxury, and that commercial airlines are filled with demons. Every bit of what he said to justify the $54 million dollar jet is just... wrong. The true Gospel rests in Jesus lowering Himself, becoming one of us, livin

  • Nobody Special 036: Getting Angry at Inappropriate Kid's Movies

    01/06/2018 Duración: 01h04min

This week, Danny and Caleb record early so we do our best to have not-dated content (not that there is anything wrong with that) and then miss everything that happened this week. Would have been fun to talk about some of it. Oh well! Instead, we discuss what is important in life; inappropriate children's movies. The movie Show Dogs thought it would be good to include commentary on fondling genitals... in a kids movie. I know! Weird right? Then we look into what makes us mad, specifically with the events of David Hogg and the Publix die in. As Christians, we should honor God with what we do and think, even if it may not necessarily be public. Rushing to anger, specifically towards a hurt kid, runs counter to the Gospel and the exhortation in James. To find out more, check out this episode today. Thanks to Classic Jonie for your questions. If you want to submit questions or just say hi, go to http://www.thegospeloutpost.com and click on podcasts.&

  • Nobody Special 035: Laurel, Yanny, and Bethel

    18/05/2018 Duración: 01h05min

This week Caleb and Danny answer the question that everyone is asking and nobody really cares about; Laurel or Yanny? We don't like that we are looking in to that, but hey, why not? Also, Danny dives in to his love of a children's worship album and discusses the important of theological significance even in the midst of emotional pieces. props go out to Bethel Kids, now Bright Ones, for a stellar album and for the talented voice of Peyton Allen. Seriously. Awesome and you should all go check it out. Finally, we look at the connection between our faith and our works and how the two are connected. How should the Christian strive to conduct their lives and do our works even matter. Find out that and more on this week's episode of Nobody Special. Thanks to Classic Jonie for your questions. If you want to submit questions or just say hi, go to http://www.thegospeloutpost.com and click on podcasts. Also, be sure you subscribe on iTunes, give us some stars,

  • Nobody Special 034: Feminism, Faith, and Facts

    04/05/2018 Duración: 01h10min

This week Caleb and Danny discuss spoilers for the Avengers movie without actually giving them. Which, unlike comicbook.com is the responsible thing to do instead of posting numerous spoiler based articles within the first 24 hours of a movie's release. You know what you did. Also, Danny knows what he did in spoiling a book series for one of the most wonderful people he knows. Sorry about that. Then, in an effort to not be offense, we tackle the minefield of sexism, feminism, and where faith falls in to this situation. Discrimination of any form is ungodly and not in keeping with the person of God and the gospel. We must present truth but we must present truth with love. Furthermore, if we are seeking unity, we must seek unity with Jesus Christ as the basis for our equality. Thanks to Alex Mr Che Che and Classic Jonie for your questions. If you want to submit questions or just say hi, go to http://www.thegospeloutpost.com and click on podcasts.T

  • Nobody Special 033 Stan Lee and The Great Commission

    20/04/2018 Duración: 01h07min

This past week Caleb had a fantastic time at Teen Pact, growing deeper in his relationship with God and learning how to lead along with people his age as they step in to leadership. Danny, on the other hand, got sick and stayed home all week. We can't all be winners. As the boys begin to look into the current events of the past two weeks, we decide we don't really want to talk about most of it. So instead we answer the age old question: "Is water wet?" Don't worry, the show gets better.Stan Lee, beloved creator of Marvel Comics, has been in the new recently as many people complete for his inheritance as one of the most convoluted stories unfolds. We look at people's heart for money and power as a means of self validation and why tithing is so important. Even more, we look at the recent story that Christians do not know what The Great Commission is. Making disciples, much like raising children, is a generational task of not only getting a person to a point but also getti

  • Nobody Special 032: Youtube Shooting and Oyster Shucking

    06/04/2018 Duración: 01h01min

Danny has a new business adventure and it will blow your mind! Oyster shucking is a real phenomenon that is way more prevalent than any person could every think. Meanwhile, Caleb doesn't get on board the oyster shucking train. And rightfully so. But don't worry, we are fully committed to this podcast and providing you with the quality content we always do. Nay. We are committed to improving and providing you with good content.Next we look at the events in the world today and the recent shooting that occurred at Youtube. Exploring the motives of the person, we look at human nature and the superiority complex and the victimhood complex. Neither of these are particularly helpful for humanity. With Easter, Christ has reigned victorious over all creation and we are forever indebted to Him. We can value humanity as made in the image of God and know that everyone has value in the eyes of God.Also, if you want us to talk about anything, leave us a message. Or just say hi at

  • Nobody Special 031: Make Christian Media Great Again

    23/03/2018 Duración: 01h09min

Danny is apparently a sports genius. That's right, March Madness is upon us and its bracket season for many of us. What a fun game that we sincerely know nothing about but apparently are doing good with brackets. Back to video games I guess, which we discuss whether they make people violent and the effect that they have on people. Somewhere in the course of this conversation, Danny admits to being a huge nerd. Also, we look at our lifestyle to see where we are or are not representing Christ, specifically in our media. We take an in-depth look at how we live our lives and how we promote our creativity in our lives. There is grace for people but there is life that comes from living fully for Christ. Faith goes beyond our feelings and takes root deep inside of us. Don't fear studying and exploring God.Be creative. Be authentic. Be public with your faith.Interested in any of the things we talked about this podcast?Devotional Book Going The HobbitFree lectures on C.S. Lewis and J.

  • Nobody Special 030: The Boys Do A Cuss

    10/03/2018 Duración: 01h09min

This week, the boys of Nobody Special take on the profound topic of swearing and the power of words. Which proves to be incredibly difficult as we don't want to lose our clean tag in the process. So we do it all without actually saying the really bad words, which would be a failure. Speaking of failure, we also look at what it means to fail and whether we are a failure or not from doing so. All in all, God gives us and we in turn can give grace to one another. We all struggle with some kind of sin and wrestle with the topic of our speech. So be gentle to yourself and to others. The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody SpecialScripture for The Week"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." • Nobody Special 029: Finding God in Parkland, Politics, and Pain

    23/02/2018 Duración: 01h06min

This week, the boys of Nobody Special take a more serious approach to the current events of the past couple of weeks. It seems like we are faced yet again with a senseless tragedy and we in no way make light of the events in Parkland at Marjory Stoneman Douglas on February 14th. During these trying times, we strive to find God and firmly believe that the light will always shine through the darkness and that the darkness cannot contain the light. Caleb and Danny look at the real issues teenagers are facing and how these events have unfolded, asking where is God in all of this. Also, we look at the statements from Jen Hatmaker regarding votes and thoughts and prayers. As Christians, we are absolutely appalled by statements that "heart issue" people cannot be reached but know that our God still reaches hearts. We are all made in the image of God and none of us are beyond His reach. At one point, our hearts were all against Him but by His power and grace, we are healed and renew.

  • Nobody Special 028: Kanye or Kierkegaard

    09/02/2018 Duración: 01h01min

This week, the boys of Nobody Special do everything in their power to not land a joke. Caleb and Danny discuss everything going on in the world today from Selfies to Space and what we do on the weekends. Saturday is for the boys but Sunday is for the Lord. Caleb and Danny look at the Sabbath and the effects of both taking one and not taking one. They discuss their own past struggles with taking a sabbath and give encouraging advice on how to best take one. Then its quiz time! Caleb has to figure out if quotes are from Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard or from rapper Kanye West. It is oddly much harder than you think it would be. Happy February everyone going through some form of True Love Waits. The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

  • Nobody Special 027: How To Be Better At Evangelism Than Google

    26/01/2018 Duración: 01h04min

The boys of Nobody Special are looking at the hard hitting questions that the world is asking. Specifically, looking into the cultural phenomenons that are Tide Pods, Star Wars dating characters, and whether Alexa, Siri, and Cortana all hate Christians. Apparently there are videos circulating around the internet of Alexa having no idea who Jesus Christ is but having an ability to give full lectures on every other faith. So we look at what a Christian's response should be and whether we should, frankly, even care. Is this another Starbucks Christmas cup thing? It feels like another Starbucks Christmas cup thing...Either way, if Google won't do our evangelism for us, we look at the top five ways to be better than Google at Evangelism. Ya know, since we will have to do it ourselves. Which makes sense because we are followers of a Risen Lord and Google is a collection of digital ones and zeroes. The Gospel Outpost Presents Nobody Special.  See acast.com/privacy fo
