The final episode of Nobody Special is now. Caleb and Danny have changing and shifting schedules as both of them enter into a new season in life. Danny had some progress in work opportunities that are taking a fair amount of time and Caleb recently got married to the wonderful Gracie. Caleb and Danny answer a question from a listener! We talk about whether God’s mind is changed by prayer and if not, then why should we pray. Prayer is integral to the life of the believer but many of us seem to think that prayer dictates what God does. In short, don’t spiritualize the the vaccine. Honestly, its infuriated and a problem on both sides of the aisle. The Boys on Amazon Prime is about a group of super heroes who are neither super nor heroes. Instead they use their power, backed by the faceless conglomerate of a corporation. As ridiculous (and gratuitous) and this story is, it presents the problem of chasing pride and power. Christians, though, are called to something different than our cultural understanding of identity and influence. We are called to boast in our weakness as we give God the glory through our inability. Recently a school board meeting in Loudoun County Virginia ended with endless chanting and police arrests over people’s protesting of the inclusion of Critical Race Theory into the elementary school curriculum. Shadow and Bone, based of the books by the same name by Leigh Bardugo, recently premiered on Netflix and quickly rose to their top 10 shows. This show deals with many fascinating themes that Caleb and Danny look into like classism, favoritism, and the light and dark dichotomy. The Christian works in the understanding that light shines even in the darkness and the darkness is unable to overcome it. So often the world can seem as if darkness is winning. However, we must continue to hold our heads up high and understand that God created the heavens, earth, and everything in it and will be victorious no matter what. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
