When he reaches 80, Allah SWT accepts his good deeds and overlooks his sins. (Abu Dawood). The virtues are related to optional Fasting and Prayer. However, if the estrangement could lead to bloodshed, then the reconciling would be better than the Obligatory worship too for they may be redeemed later -whilst loss of life cannot be repaired (Mirqaat). The most excellent Sadaqah is to reconcile between two people (Tabarani).

And leaving those whom I love, which is the easiest one of the three... O Allah (SWT)! Yerily, You (SWT) had ordered, but I (ra) was slack. And You (SWT) prohibited, but I disobeyed. O AllAh (SWT)!
