DJ Plaeboi joined Background Noise this week and brought with him some beer, Burger King gift cards and Hawaiian shirts (good luck competing with that, upcoming guests)! He then gave us the inside scoop on some of the big name rappers that he's met/worked with over the years (listen up to find out who gave him free porn DVDs)! We also talked about The Warriors (the book, movie AND video game) and how Al Roker pooped in his pants at the White House. To top it all off, Derrek gave us some solid reviews of the new movies that he's seen recently! Listen up or be given a birthday cake that has dynamite for candles. Your choice.

Comedian Kyle Hickey joins the Background Noise podcast this week for an especially smarmy episode! He let us in on what he has in the works, including a new, on-line mini-series, and we also talked with him about the recent closing of a local East Side Mario"s which has been the cause for much controversy. In the middle segment we took a look at a collection of Derrek"s report cards, stories, pictures, etc. from his early school days. He LOVED bears and ghosts. Trust me. This is a special Christmas episode of Background Noise...but really it's not that Christmasy at all. Mavs Gillis from sportstream.ca sat in on this exciting episode of Background Noise to grace us with his presence! Discussion topics include the NFL murder-suicide that shocked the sports world, a beautiful castle that got bulldozed by mistake, the Halifax Explosion, the past month or so of comedian Katt Williams' strange behavior and more! We also took a look at Jon Travolta and Olivia Newton John's horrendous new music video, and a douche-o-matic scene from the latest Resident Evil movie. Geeks. Nerds. Lend me your ears. I need extra ears so I can listen to this weeks Background Noise in 3D. The Lord High PigMonkey and John Roy from Geeks Versus Nerds join us this week as we welcome back Luke from his week long hiatus. We talk about his trip last week to the hospital, and our experiences with doctors squeezing our penises and balls. We also discussed Devin's first ever (accidental) experience with alcohol, which took place just this week! Then we went down a tube to world 7, where Derrek threw out single keywords, and asked the rest of the fellas to guess the accompanying news story. After that, we blew the whistle and went to world 3 to discuss Geeks versus Nerds, and what topics Derrek, Dev and Luke could go on and defend. ThunderCats? Perhaps. WARRRRRR!!! Three female comedians have invaded the show! Megan Mackay, Andie Bulman, and Ana Donova (feat. her keyboard) join us this week to talk! Luke is out injured and listed as day to day. In the first segment, Derrek tries to get people to admit they're secret racists, then we fearlessly plunge into topics that include: Sasquatch, Barack and Michelle Obama's sexual appetites, legalizing marijuana joint cigarettes, lessons learned in their comedy travels, and how mouth hugging a penis can cost you in dental bills. The multi-talented (rapper and producer, among other things) Cam Smith joins us on this episode to share with us some of his music, ideas, philosophies and experiences. He also played some Battletoads & Double Dragon with Luke during some of the discussion (that game is hard as hell - don't bother). Comedian Dan Hayward sat in on this episode to talk to us about the trials and tribulations of being a stand-up comic! We also talked about wrestling being passed from Vince McMahon Sr. to Vince McMahor Jr.; a man who killed his wife and then boiled her; using a hair-dryer to warm your feet; sleeping with a fan turned on; countries to escape to after committing a crime; a man who let 1000 pigs die because he was "lazy"; rules of the road when driving in other countries; and what prisoners do for work when they're locked up, as well as how much they make doing it. Listen, laugh, learn and love it...and whatever other L words are good. Not the bad ones though. We're not losers. Honest.

There's a bucket full of madness and good discussion in this episode, folks! We shared some of our personal philosophies about staying motivated and inspired, and we also talked about the binge drinking and bar violence that goes on in Halifax. Then we covered a couple of stories about bullying, which led us to discuss the pros and cons of using violence as a detterent. There's lots more, too!
