Give Me Murder Or Give Me Death

Gilles de Rais was a compatriot of Joan of Arc, and an important figure in 15th century France, but his main jam was killing kids.  Part of this episode is super fun and funny, and part is horrifically dark, please enjoy!  We hope you all are having a moneyed holiday season.

Ok so he did actually have a dick, but this Englishman struggled with impotence and was made fun of for it as a child.  He was also later injured in a gas attack in WW1, what a winning combination for a well-adjusted adult!  This episode includes serial murder, wrongful conviction, and sadness.

It's another story of murder from hundreds of years ago!  This is our first visit to Italy, and coincidentally, our first foray into medieval Italian politics!!  We're talking about the Pazzi conspiracy and the murder of an important nobleman from one of the most powerful families in Italy at the time.  He was killed in a church during mass, and a whole mass of people were killed in his wake as retribution, should be fun!

We're gearing up for the holidays with a real bummer of a story!  This episode goes over the mysterious death of Elisa Lam at the Cecil Hotel in LA in 2013.  It's not a fun story but it's a very interesting mystery.  We also touch upon a few other mysterious deaths at the hotel over the years, and of course Alex mentions that nothing really matters.

Katherine Knight!  If you don't know this story you're about to hear some awful things!!  It's hard to say whether Alex's attempts at an Australian accent or the ending to this story is more horrifying.  This truly is a terrible, gross, gory episode (but not right away).  Thanks for sticking with us we love you.

The Winchester Mystery house, is it actually a mystery?  No.  At least not according to Alex.  If you like when Alex hates something you will love this episode, and vice versa.  Lena did not know this in advance all she did was provide us with a nice podcast topic, she's the best.  ALSO:  stick around after that story to hear a bonus interview with our producer Harrison!!  We figured it'd be nice to hear from him since you guys don't know much about him, enjoy!

This we recount the tale of a mysterious female serial killer that haunted Germany for over 15 years.  There are lots of twists and turns in this one as well as German accents.  If you've never heard this story you're in for a treat as well as meandering and rumination, we love you.

Gravy, meatballs, murder.  November is upon us and Thanksgiving approaches so what better time to talk about these 3 Norwegian-American pasttimes.  That makes no sense of course but neither does this podcast much of the time.  Join us as Lena mispronounces meatballs and Alex latches onto the completely fiction concept of a "gravy servant." This is the story of the famous Belle Gunness, the Norwegian immigrant to the United States suspected of killing many of her suitors and stealing their money.

It's our extra double special (or whatever the hell I say in the episode) Halloween episode!  We wanted to pick something extra gruesome and weird that took place around Halloween, and boy did we do that, we also rambled a lot but hey ain't this whole thing really just a bundle of fun?  Murder is bad, look it up.  This episode is about a small town in Ohio where a grisly double murder took place in 1995 which prompted the whole town to cancel all Halloween related activities that year, to avoid Satanists, it's pretty interesting.

The Bloody Benders - a family (but were they?) of 4 is suspected of upwards of 20 murders on the Kansas frontier in the 19th century.  This episode is all about free love, family, and actually neither of those it's about 4 psychopaths setting up an insane murder scenario for guests they had in their home.  A wholesome tale from the Heartland.

Sorry for the late posting!  We've had some technical issues in the form of busy lives and vacations and standup comedy tours, but who cares we're all gonna die right lol?  Anyway this one is from the deep archive that we recorded about 7 months ago (we have a few more gems that are super dark and not funny that we may release if we find ourselves in a similar bind again).  It's about Casey Anthony, you know her, you (probably don't) love her.  This is our drunken take (yeah we were drunk for this one hell yeah being alive and being drunk rules!) from so long ago we have no idea what the hell we talked about but we hope you enjoy it!

Three stories of famous failed assassination attempts.  Sure they all lived but eventually the targets all died from other causes (as everyone does) so this is staying true to the podcast thematically.  It's on brand!

We got ghost stories!  Lena provides with a real treat of some pretty cool stories that Alex obnoxiously takes to task.  If you believe in ghosts you might hate Alex, but you will love Lena she's great.  Oh also skip ahead to 3 minutes if you don't want Game of Thrones spoilers, sorry that's all Lena's fault Alex had nothing to do with it!  Also the second half of this episode is a companion episode to #16.

The Affair of the Poisons, it's just like it sounds!  Affairs, poisons, and guess what also magic and spells and whatnot.  And don't forget about the murder, so much murder.  This is the captivating story of a surge in poisonings in 17th century France under Louis XIV.  Court intrigue, adultery, real weird magic stuff, we got it all.

Lena brings us two sad and compelling stories of disappearances on cruise ships.  Never go on a cruise, only bad things happen, and Disney is evil.

We cannot stress enough how much Alex does not believe in the supernatural.  Please enjoy as he lays into an exorcist who did an interview in Cosmo of all places.  Also listen to various stories about exorcisms from around the world and how they go wrong (which is always)!

The story of Jim Jones and where it all went wrong (there were a lot of issues from the start).  Lena chose to do our first cult episode!  It's a fascinating story with a horrifying end.  We also go off on a tangent about the events in Charlottesville we couldn't help it!  

Don't lock your kids in a small garden, or do!  Everyone's screwed so it doesn't really matter what you do or don't do!  But don't be weird to your kids because they might grow up to dissolve people in acid!  This one's a real dang doozy guys!

The Moore family and 2 guests were brutally murdered with an axe in Iowa in 1912.  Join us for a little fire and brimstone, with a light helping of Alex reiterating how stupid he thinks the idea of ghosts is.

Tycho Brahe was a famous astronomer and a very weird dude, he also died in such a dumb way.  Also be sure to enjoy as Lena and Alex briefly explore the mystery of existence and mortality (AKA Alex goes off on an insane tangent but also it was Lena's idea to start a podcast in the first place so there's plenty of blame to go around).  Have fun listeners we love you!
