Senegal meets Wales in a collaboration between Senegalese kora player Seckou Keita and Welsh harpist Catrin Finch at this year's festival. Scottish artist Robbie Thomson harnesses the power of the Tesla coil, the 19th century invention that first let us see electricity dance in his Brighton Festival show.   With a pulsing soundtrack reminiscent of afrobeat and ambient electronica, visuals are created from the Tesla coil, shooting sensational sonic and visual fireworks flaring through the Faraday cage that contains it Rebecca Sandles went along to meet Robbie to find out more about the light and sound show. Nakhane is one of South Africa's brightest stars. He’s won awards for his work as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, as well as for his writing and acting. Citing Malian musician Ali Farka Touré as an influence, Nakhane’s music also shows traces of Radiohead and David Bowie in the languid guitars and his beautiful soaring vocal harmonies.  He performs at St Georges Church on Saturday 19th May as part of the Festival.
