How does a person become a follower of Jesus? As we begin a new series on the assurance of our salvation, we first need to see what the Bible says about how a person is saved. Are you a follower of Jesus?

God tests Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham trusted God and obeyed God even though he did not understand why God was asking him to sacrifice Isaac. Are we trusting God, even in the hard times?

Abraham never received the promise of land during his lifetime. The writer of Hebrews tells us that Abraham and Sarah actually lived for their heavenly home instead. We, as followers of Jesus, are just like Abraham and Sarah. We are strangers or foreigners in a foreign land.

As we conclude our study of the Gospel of John, we need to ask the question, "Who is Jesus?" Was he a prophet, was he a good moral teacher, was he a lunatic, or was he who he claimed to be, the Son of God. 

Sarah is the next person the writer of Hebrews mentions. Sarah was the wife of Abraham and she was barren. But God promised that Abraham would have many descendants. How is this possible? Abraham had to wait 25 years to see how God would fulfill this promise. God is faithful and we can trust in Him to keep His word, even if we have to wait.

It is so easy to compare ourselves with other people and become jealous of what they have or even how God is using them. Peter asks Jesus about John's life and Jesus tells him that it is none of his concern. Peter's concern instead is to follow Jesus. God is sovereign. He has a plan for each and everyone of His followers and chooses to use them for His honor and glory. Our main concern in life is to follow Jesus.

"Peter, do you love me more than these?" This was the question that Jesus asked Peter. Jesus is asking us this same question. Do you love me more than anything in your life? We need to surrender all that we have, all that we are, and all that we hope to be to Jesus and follow Him above all else.

Jesus appears to His disciples for the third time. Their relationship has changed because now Jesus calls them "Children." The seven disciples who are a part of this scene also have no more doubts that Jesus really did rise from the dead. If you believe in Jesus, then you are a child of God.

Noah builds an ark, by faith. Noah obeys God and listens to God's commands and is considered a righteous man. We need to follow God's commands in our lives as well. Faith is walking in obedience to God because God is trustworthy.

We know that Jesus rose from the dead because of the eye witness accounts. People literally saw Jesus with their own hands and touched Jesus with their hands. But not everyone believed, some of the disciples doubted. Thomas was one of those disciples. Thomas doubted what the disciples said, until he saw Jesus and then he believed. John encourages us to believe as well. What does it mean to believe? Do you believe that Jesus is who He claimed to be? 

How do we really know that Jesus rose from the dead? From eye witness accounts. In John 20:19-23 Jesus appears to His followers and sends them out as His witnesses. Join us as we look at some controversial verses and see that Jesus sends us out too as His witnesses. 

On the first day of the week, Mary and some other women go to the tomb and saw that the stone was rolled away. Peter and John run to the tomb and see the burial cloths still lying in the tomb. John sees and believes.

By faith Abel gives a better sacrifice. Why does God accept Abel's sacrifice and reject Cain's? God sees their hearts. Are our hearts' trusting fully in God to bring Him the very best?

Jesus cries out "It is finished" and hands over His spirit. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus come and bury Jesus in a temporary tomb. Jesus is dead. Why did Jesus have to die?

As Jesus is led out to be crucified, we see that God's plan from the very beginning of time is being fulfilled. In fact, when Jesus breathes His final breath, He yells out "It is finished." The plan of salvation has been accomplished successfully. 

In Hebrews 11:3, the writer tells us that by faith we believe that God spoke this world into existence from nothing. Is this true? Can we truly believe that God is the creator of this world?

As we celebrate Christmas, let us not forget why Jesus came in the first place; to redeem us.

As we begin this new series on Hebrews 11, we first have to ask the questions, "What is Faith?" and "How much faith do I need to please God?" Join us as we begin this important discussion on faith and how we as believers in Jesus can remain faithful to Him in our daily lives.

Pilate talks to the Jews three different times before he hands Jesus over to be crucified. In these conversations, we see the true heart of the religious leaders and how they not only reject Jesus, but also God Himself. My our hearts be softened and follow Jesus.

As Jesus is arrested, He is led to Annas house. Peter and John follow Jesus there. While they are there, Peter disowns Jesus three times, but when we look at the book of Acts, we see Peter boldly proclaiming the Gospel. What happened to this man? The same transformation needs to take place in our lives as well so that we will boldly proclaim that we are followers of Jesus.
