Episodios

    28/10/2024 Duración: 36min

This Series: 1 Peter is written to Gentile believers living in a hostile, pagan culture. Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: Peter closes his letter with a gentle admonition to church leaders. The lowest leverage of leadership is one’s title. Too often, ministry leaders “lord” over their ministry out of selfishness, pride, or arrogance. Instead, godly leadership humbly and lovingly serves the flock for God’s glory, not their own. Key Phrase: “Eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you.” 1 Peter 5:3

  • ALIEN LIFE (Part 6) • "Suffering As an Alien" • Barry Bandara

    28/10/2024 Duración: 41min

This Series: 1 Peter is written to Gentile believers living in a hostile, pagan culture. Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: Believers, especially today, need to stop worrying about the wicked and start looking at their own behavior and motives behind the behavior and live in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. Suffering for righteousness is better than suffering for stupidity. It’s time for the “Church” to take a healthy check in the mirror!   Key Phrase: “For it is time for the judgment to begin with God’s household.” 1 Peter 4:17

  • ALIEN LIFE (Part 5) • "Uncommon Relationships that Lead to Uncommon Blessings" • Ray Rivers

Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: Anyone can repay evil with evil. However, living the Alien Life will cause believers to repay evil with blessing. This type of behavior will send shockwaves of blessing to those who witness it.   Key Phrase: “On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called to so that others may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9

  • ALIEN LIFE (Part 4) • "Uncommon Marriage" • Barry Bandara

    07/10/2024 Duración: 37min

This Series: 1 Peter is written to Gentile believers living in a hostile, pagan culture. Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: A healthy, godly marriage is one of the best testimonies for Christ today. Why? Because great marriages are becoming more and more rare. Peter breaks down how to treat your spouse when they are not a believer or not acting like one. Here are practical ways to bless one’s marriage as a testimony for others to see God in and through you.   Key Phrase: “That they may be won over without words by the behavior...” 1 Peter 3:1

  • ALIEN LIFE (Part 3) • "LIVE to Praise" • Barry Bandara

    30/09/2024 Duración: 41min

This Series: 1 Peter is written to Gentile believers living in a hostile, pagan culture. Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: Light is the strongest contrast to darkness. Living as people of the light will draw attention. May we live in such a way that we are living billboards that give great advertisement for our Savior.   Key Phrase: “Live such good lives among the pagan that…they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12

  • ALIEN LIFE (Part 2) • "Live Uncommonly" • Barry Bandara

    23/09/2024 Duración: 43min

This Series: 1 Peter is written to Gentile believers living in a hostile, pagan culture. Peter points believers to the HOPE they have in the midst of their suffering that is fueled by the HOPE of the return of Christ.   This Week: Believers are called to be different. Not weird, but different. Choosing to live differently will appear strange to those who don’t know Christ. However, the Alien Life can become attractive because it is so rare! Key Phrase: “Live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.” 1 Peter 1:17

  • QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED (Part 3) • "Why Do You Call Me Lord, Lord…?" • Bob Valles

    19/08/2024 Duración: 40min

This Series: Earlier this year we looked at questions God asked in the Old Testament. To finish out this summer, we will look at 4 penetrating questions that Jesus asked in the New Testament – questions that apply to us today. This Week: Words mean things. The meaning of Lord is: 1. a title of honor expressive of respect and reverence; 2. To whom a person belongs about which he has power of deciding; 3. one who has control. Given the weight behind its meaning, to call Jesus your Lord and then not obey what he says is a slap to his face. Ouch!   Key Phrase: “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?” Luke 6:46

  • QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED (Part 2) • "Why Are You So Afraid?" • Jon Johnson

    12/08/2024 Duración: 38min

This Series: Earlier this year we looked at questions God asked in the Old Testament. To finish out this summer, we will look at 4 penetrating questions that Jesus asked in the New Testament – questions that apply to us today. This Week: Many believers are just like the disciples of Jesus – fearful and worrisome. Would Jesus look you in the eye and ask you this question?   Key Phrase: “Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:35-41

  • QUESTIONS JESUS ASKED (Part 1) • "What about the plank in your eye?" • Barry Bandara

    07/08/2024 Duración: 34min

This Series: Earlier this year we looked at questions God asked in the Old Testament. To finish out this summer, we will look at 4 penetrating questions that Jesus asked in the New Testament – questions that apply to us today.   This Week: It is incredibly easy to find fault in those around us. On the flip side, it is so difficult to see our own faults. If we are honest, this question hits all of us squarely in the heart.   Key Phrase: “First take the plank out of your own eye.” Matthew 7:5

  • JUICY (Part 9) • Self-Control • Barry Bandara

    31/07/2024 Duración: 41min

This Series: We all get squeezed by life, whether it’s an irritating driver, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone else who gets on our nerves. We all face frustrating life events such as car problems, unexpected bills, unmet expectations, or an end of a relationship. When we get squeezed by life, something WILL come out of us. It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   This Week: Someone will little-to-no self-control is still a child. Self-control is a sign of maturity. A lack of self-control is embarrassing while one with self-control is respectable. This fruit of the Spirit is greatly needed today. Following the Spirit of God will help us make wise choices with the emotions we feel and the words that we want to share.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… self-control.” Galatians 5:23

  • JUICY (Part 8) • "Gentleness" • Barry Bandara

    24/07/2024 Duración: 39min

    • This Series: We all get squeezed by life, whether it’s an irritating driver, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone else who gets on our nerves. We all face frustrating life events such as car problems, unexpected bills, unmet expectations, or an end of a relationship. When we get squeezed by life, something WILL come out of us. It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: A wild horse is a danger to himself and anyone near him. However, a horse that has be broken and trained is another story all together. This horse you can trust with a child on its back and a bridle in its mouth. Gentleness means strength under control. Jesus modeled gentleness when he was beaten and falsely accused. He chose to remain silent – the epitome of gentleness. Anyone can go “off” on someone else when they are angry. It takes incredible power to remain calm (gentle) when someone is going “off” on you. This fruit of the Spirit is something many will admire and

  • JUICY (Part 7) • "Faithfulness" • Bob Valles

We all face frustrating life events such as car problems, unexpected bills, unmet expectations, or an end of a relationship. When we get squeezed by life, something WILL come out of us. It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: Once again, this fruit of the Spirit is rare today because our culture is nowhere near walking with God. Relationships, marriages, and commitments are broken easily whenever the situation gets difficult or inconvenient. Being faithful to your word used to mean a great deal. Walking in step with the Spirit will cause us to be the rare person today: someone who is faithful; one who others can count on. Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… faithfulness…” Galatians 5:22

  • JUICY (Part 6) • "Goodness" • Barry Bandara

It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   •This Week: Kindness is how one reacts and interacts with others. Goodness is something we do. It is action oriented. It’s doing something that is good and beneficial for someone. It is blessing someone because God has blessed you. When one is in step with the Spirit, we will have eyes to see the good He wants us to do.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… goodness…” Galatians 5:22

  • JUICY (Part 5) • "Kindness" • Barry Bandara

    01/07/2024 Duración: 42min

    • This Series: We all get squeezed by life, whether it’s an irritating driver, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone else who gets on our nerves. We all face frustrating life events such as car problems, unexpected bills, unmet expectations, or an end of a relationship. When we get squeezed by life, something WILL come out of us. It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: It sure seems like our culture has become unkinder every week. Comments on social media are rude and harsh. Drivers won’t let other cars merge, even if their blinker is on. Smiles are rare while curse words are everywhere. However, one of the sweetest fruits of the spirit is kindness such as: talking kindly, greeting kindly, disagreeing kindly, driving kindly, etc. Sadly, studies show the first thing to disappear in a marriage is simple kindness. This won’t happen when a follower is in step with the Spirit.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… kindness…” Galatian

It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: Not many of us are naturally patient. We want what we want when we want it. Patience is a fruit of being in step with the Spirit of God. When we are, we will be more patient with those around us because we know how patient God is with us.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… patience…” Galatians 5:22

It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: Peace is in rare supply these days. All around us, there is turmoil, strife, and conflict. Peace is priceless. Peace helps us sleep at night. Peace gives us hope. Peace is the result of walking in the Spirit – even if it is difficult and unpopular.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is…peace…” Galatians 5:22

  • JUICY (Part 2) • "Joy" • Barry Bandara

    10/06/2024 Duración: 38min

    • This Series: We all get squeezed by life, whether it’s an irritating driver, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone else who gets on our nerves. We all face frustrating life events such as car problems, unexpected bills, unmet expectations, or an end of a relationship. When we get squeezed by life, something WILL come out of us. It will either sweet or it will be sour. What comes out depends on how close we are walking with the Spirit.   • This Week: We all love to be HAPPY. But happiness is fleeting because it’s situational. Joy, however, is better than happy because joy is a choice. The difficult situation may not be enjoyable, but joy will carry us through the situation. Joy only comes from walking with the Spirit. Joy is a deep satisfaction in our souls. It’s connected to a peace beyond understanding. Joy reminds us that God is in control and that He loves us.   Key Phrase: “The fruit of the Spirit is… joy…” Galatians 5:22
