Episode 41: AMA How do you start a podcast and is it hard?
27/03/2019 Duración: 16minToday’s episode is a solo one. I get asked tons of questions about podcasting and I thought why not get a few more by asking on Instagram, and I added some of those questions to this podcast as well as others I’ve gotten over the years. I was inspired to start a podcast after listening to a few podcasts and falling in love with that method of storytelling, and it resonated with me because that’s how I grew up listening to my parents, aunts, uncles share stories, poetry etc. Its been important to me as a Muslim woman to have our narrative told through our experiences and not through stereotypes, and podcasting has been a great way for me to share the stories of amazing Muslim women using their own voices to amplify their work and lives in a way that is both motivating and inspiring to other women. In this episode I talk about how and why I started podcasting and I touch on the process of podcast creation and I also answer questions I am often asked about podcast production. In this episode. My desire to help

#TBT Spending time with the people who actually matter
05/10/2018 Duración: 05minSpending time with the people who actually matter. I think as a teen or a young kid your friends can become your life and building a relationship with your sibling goes on the back burner. I get it your young and free and you think you have all the time in the world, but think about all the years you will miss out on with your siblings. I know now that I'm married and have my own kids, I feel like I missed out on a lot of time with my siblings I only realized after I moved away from home that my parents and siblings know me better than I know even myself sometimes and I wish I made more time for them back then instead of just being focused on school, work and my social life. I think the same way we got into our cliques and spent more time out of the house back than now we are doing that with social media. It's like being home but not really being there because we're focused on living online than connecting with the people in our lives. I know that we are more likely to text than make a call which is great for

So to that little girl who came from a very warm country and to snow and I am learning a new language making new friends and being away from most of your family that you grew up with I would say to her that all of that anxiety that you have to build up all of that stress of not knowing what life is going to be calm and having to be strong so that you don’t you know for the stress out everyone around you. I would say it’s going to be OK you’re going to grow up to be a good person you’re gonna grow up to be someone who has build up resilience but at the same time. I would say don’t be shy to ask for help don’t think that you

And as women, we have adapted to it. Our classic answer when asked how we are doing and how motherhood is treating us fine, its great, it's so amazing. but in reality, we haven't gone to the bathroom alone in years, slept for more than 2 hours at a time in ages or had a proper meal that didn't consist of your kids' leftovers and the chocolate you ate in the pantry. That is why I was super excited to get Sumaira on the show and talk about her articles about motherhood. She keeps it real and it's so refreshing to finally be able to have someone who is of the same faith who is so honest about motherhood. In this episode, we talked about some of the articles from Sumaira's website * WHY SELF LOVE AND SELF CARE ARE IMPORTANT FOR MOTHERS * WHY YOU SHOULD NOT TELL A MOTHER SHE’S TOO BLESSED TO BE

Rahma tells us a little about herself and why she wrote Muhiima's Quest. I have always been an avid reader and I wrote stories, poems and journal entries in my spare time. But I never thought being an author was a career choice I could make. But when I became a mother I naturally passed on my passion for books to my children and began to read to them at a very early age. But as they got older it became harder and harder to find books that contain both our spiritual beliefs as well as our rich laced heritage. I could either find a book with African children as main characters or books with Islamic teachings but rarely did I find a book with both. Then one day I thought well if I cant find an option I will have to create a solution. It is with that thought that I wrote my first picture book titled: Muhiima's Quest. It's been a long journey in self-publishing world but Alhamdulilah it is no
