BoomerMale Storycast SC0011: Defining Survivor
24/11/2015 Duración: 03min395 years ago on September 16, 1620, 102 passengers and 40 crew set sail in a 90-foot ship. Their destination: the New World. 66 days later, after terrible conditions at sea, this hardy band landed on Cape Cod, deserted except for an abandoned native village. Half of the company died during the first winter until natives taught the pilgrims to hunt local animals, gather shellfish, grow squash, beans, and corn. A three-day harvest feast followed the next autumn for 90 natives and the 53 surviving pilgrims. Now you have survived 5 or 6 decades of life, what are giving thanks for this year? BoomerMale.com gives our thanks to you for being part of our tribe.

BoomerMale Storycast SC0010: I Have A Dream
02/11/2015 Duración: 03min"I have a dream," boomed from the speakers in front of 250,000 Americans standing before Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the National Mall. Behind him was the Lincoln Memorial, a fitting stage for his re-dedication to the concept that "all men are created equal." A few weeks after the speech, Dr. King was awarded "Man of the Year" by Time Magazine, followed by the Nobel Peace Prize the next year. A short time later he was assassinated. But Dr. King's dream lives on because dreams truly do spark us to do things that we never thought possible...to do better things in our families, in our neighborhoods and in our communities. What kind of dreams do you have to share with your world? Find more stories and information online at BoomerMale.com

BoomerMale Storycast SC0009: Red Sox, Why Not Us?
09/10/2015 Duración: 03minThe Boston Red Sox won won the first World Series Championship in 1903, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates. And the Red Sox won four more following that. But 1918 was the last World Series Championship won by the Red Sox and the beginning of "The Curse of the Bambino" when Babe Ruth was sold to the Yankees at the end of the 1919 season. The World Series drought was dramatically broken on October 27, 2004, when Boston beat the Cardinals in the 2004 Series in four straight games. This was after a dramatic pennant win coming from behind 3-0 to win over the Yankees. The Red Sox motto that year was "Why Not Us?" Indeed, the Red Sox are a reminder that moving forward each day, even if just an inch, gets us closer to the goals we want to accomplish. That we can succeed in the Boomer Male third act.

BoomerMale Storycast SC0008: The Beatles
21/09/2015 Duración: 03minThe Beatles, otherwise known as the first wave of The British Invasion, appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show at 8:00 PM, February 9, 1964, and the music world changed, especially for boomer males. Up until that point we had rock and roll, and doo-wop, and surf music was making the scene with Dick Dale and the Del-Tones, and The Beach Boys with the ever inventive Brian Wilson. Before that pop music was mostly hits from Broadway shows, lots of ballads with a gimmick song thrown in to enliven the mood. Yes, The Beatles were something rare and they defined that transition to the 1960s culture shift. Their music started arguments. Their haircuts started fights. The band was banned in certain cities and states. But they represented the change coming in America and not just in music. Ed Sullivan, a newspaper columnist, sports and entertainment reporter, and eventual TV personality, saw The Beatles in Heathrow Airport greeted by an enthusiastic crowd. He booked them on his show despite the band not yet having even a s

BoomerMale Storycast SC0003: Do I feel Lucky?
02/09/2015 Duración: 03minDirty Harry. The name seethes with tension, same as the thousands of hormonal teen boys who packed theatres for the movie premiere on December 22, 1971. What we most admired about Harry was his no-BS approach to life. He persists until he succeeds, no mater the bureaucracy or the setting. Harry stays focused with real constancy to purpose. The takeaway for Boomer Males is that when we set our minds to it, we can accomplish anything. Develop the right mindset and then go ahead and make things happen.
