The band Timbers joins us on this show to preview their new album AND play a live track. Their new album comes out this month and they’ve got an album release show coming up on Saturday, March 24 at The Westport Saloon. After that we hear music from some bands with upcoming gigs, like RUBEO and Violent Bear. They’re at The Rino on Saturday, March 10. We also hear from Sinple, who is opening up for Grammy winner, Anna Wise on Friday at The Riot Room. Plus, music from Nicholas St. James, he’s part of a big St. Pat’s day party at Replay Lounge on Saturday, March 17.

We kick off the show with a special announcement about Middle of the Map Fest 2018!!! After that we hang out with Jerad Tomasino who has been making music in KC for a long time. He’s had a record label, thrown events like Crossroads Flock Party and this coming Sunday he’s playing at recordBar with The Academic, a band from Ireland that’s making waves on both sides of the pond. Hear brand new music from his album, "Music From the Hit Television Show". After that hear more new music from Golden Groves, Red Kate, OLIVIA FOX and Duncan Burnett.

This time on the show we focus on Kansas City Folk Festival, coming up this Sunday, February 18 at the Westin Crown Center.  Americana/Roots/Folk musician Kelly Hunt (Kelly without the e) joins us in-studio and we hear three gorgeous studio tracks and a live performance.  Plus, hear music from others playing the fest, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Crystal Rose, Olivia Fox, Grassfed and more!

On this show we sit down with special guest David George and preview his brand new album, "Lesson of Love". The album comes out on Friday, February 23 and he’s playing an album release show at recordBar that night. We talk about his new album, touring with John Fogerty, going on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Bruce Willis, Michael Jackson, Barbara Walters and more. It should be a good time. Also, hear new music from The MGDs, Y God Y, and Lily DeTaeye Music.

It is that time of year again!!! This show is all about Folk Alliance International. The event is FEBRUARY 14-18 and brings 3000 people from all around the world to see musicians from all around the world, and it all happens right in downtown KC at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. This is the 5th year the event has been hosted in KC and ask anyone that’s been, they’ll give you 5-star glowing reviews about their experience. It’s called FOLK but that’s a broad term and will be a topic for the show as we feature hip hop, electronica, world music, experimental guitar, soul music, Australian Aboriginal music and for good measure we play a couple “folk” songs too. We also talk logistics, give study tips and talk about our past experiences at the event. Hear music from these acts from all over the globe: Radio Free Honduras, Delhi 2 Dublin, Steve Poltz, Ali Holder, Yirrmal, Boogát, The War and Treaty, Disraeli, Daniel Champagne and Jeremy Dutcher. 

Hear music from several bands with upcoming gigs: The Grisly Hand, Foshee,Westside Royal, Payge Turner Music and The Kemps. Also hear brand new music from these bands who have upcoming gigs: Hi-Lux, Dusty Rust, Dreamgirl and Club Beverly. Folk Alliance International is Feb 14-17 and the Kansas City Folk Festival is Feb 18. We’ll hear from two acts playing that week: a 13-year-old from Nashville and a young man from Canada: EmiSunshine and Dylan Menzie.

It’s all about new music on this episode of the Eight One Sixty!  Sara Morgan will be stopping by with her with her guitar in hand and brand new album, “Average Jane”. We get a sneak peek of her brand new album that comes out this Friday at her album release show at Knuckleheads Saloon. We also hear brand new music from Momma's Boy (at The Riot Room on Friday), Mene Mene (at The Brick on Saturday) and Electric Orchids (at Uptown Arts Bar on Feb 17).

This time on the show we sit down with our special guest, RUBEO. Rubeo’s a KC based electronic music producer and he’ll share some new music with us. Hear some new music from X.WILSON, Dogteeth, Yanna and Sheven - who are part of a very cool show, My Posse In Effect: Beastie Boys Tribute live in KC 1/26/18 at VooDoo Lounge. We also play one of Chris' favorite electronic songs of 2017 from shallou.

For our first show of 2018 we sit down with special guest and band leader, Michelle Bacon to talk about the third annual David Bowie tribute show, by The Band That Fell To Earth. The big show is this Saturday night at recordBar and tickets are moving quickly. After the Bowie segment, we hear new music from Making Movies, The Phantastics, OLIVIA FOX, FACEFACE, Larsen, The Country Duo and Hot Suede.

We’ve invited three guests onto the show that Chris always see at concerts and who are great fans of The Bridge too! We sit down with Amber, who won volunteer of the year for The Bridge and KCPT – Kansas City PBS. We talk to Jen, who is a big concert goer and volunteer around town, and also Scott “front row Joe” Rohr, who is constantly leaning on the stage, right up front at SO many concerts. Our guests are picking the playlist AND answering our 7 QUESTIONS!

"Best of 2017" season continues this week on the EIGHT ONE SIXTY (Tuesday's at 6PM on 90.9 The Bridge). Chris plays some of his favorite songs of 2017 over the next two shows. Also, we’ll work our way back through the calendar and talk about our favorite shows of 2017 - maybe your favorite show is on our list too. It was a great year in music, hope you can tune in and catch the show. Our "best of" continues as we sit down with the always interesting and forever insightful Bill Brownlee. Bill's a contributing writer to Ink Magazine, The Kansas City Star, KCUR 89.3 and a very active blogger. We wrangle with him in the friendliest of ways, hear his favorite songs and talk about his favorite shows of the year. Chris wanted to point out in December 2015 he introduced him to a 22-year-old hip-hop act out of Chicago named Chance The Rapper with the track Sunday Candy. And back in 2013, he introduced Chris to Stik Figa of Topeka, with music from his amazing album Blind Tiger. Who knows what he’ll introduce us to this week. It’ll be fun!

It's the show we look forward to every year!!!  Mark is going to preview his top 117 songs of 2017 with us for the hour.  We’ll hear from bands like: Of Tree, Jametatone, Krystle Warren, The 238s, Ramy Essam, Making Movies, Mysterious Clouds, Calvin Arsenia and maybe more. Mark Manning hosts the Wednesday MidDay Medley every Wednesday from 10AM-Noon on KKFI 90.1 FM, a couple clicks down the dial from us. We’ll also talk about some of his favorite shows of the year. We celebrate Halloween by hanging out with Hembree live in our studio. Their brand new EP, Had It All comes out on Friday, November 3 and we’re going to play the album track for track for you...then you can grab a copy on iTunes on Friday! We talk to Isaac in Hembree about their recent tour with JR JR, what’s next for the band, the importance of songwriting, how crucial editing is to finding the right songs for an album, their November 25 gig with Joywave at The Truman and many more things. Also, we kick the show off with special guest Michelle Bacon and talk about Apocalypse Meow 10, happening next weekend in KC, November 3-5.
