We are joined for the last time this month by Michelle Bacon to continue talking about her special series, “Turning The Tables KC.” Turning The Tables KC is a feature about Kansas City women in music and it tries to capture their experiences of working in the music industry. Today on the show we hear from Hi-Lux and Katy Guillen and The Girls, they’re playing a FREE show tomorrow at 6PM at Mills Record Company as the finale to the "Turning The Tables" series. We also hear from other women in KC music: Amy Farrand and The Like, Samantha Fish, Krystle Warren, The Philistines with Kimmie Queen, The Greeting Committee, Lily DeTaeye Music and Trampled Under Foot.

Michelle Bacon returns as we continue our special 4-part series, “Turning The Tables KC.” Turning The Tables KC is a feature on The Bridge’s website about Kansas City women in music and it tries to capture their experiences of working in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We hear brand new music from young musicians: Jo Music, Miki P, Gracie Schramm and Maddi. We also hear from some of our favorites including Mess, Payge Turner and Rachel Mallin. Also, a brand new one from Vigil and Thieves, who are playing this weekend at the 7th Annual Lawrence Field Day Fest. Plus, music from KCK native Janelle Monae, who was recently announced as headliner of Open Spaces in October at Starlight. Then we jump into the vault for an old one from Kianna of Yes You Are from her previous project, Tilly and the Wall. “Turning The Tables KC” wraps up with a concert on July 25 at Mills Records with music from Katy Guillen and Hi-Lux and with a conversation by a panel of musicians as well. 

We have 2 sets of special guests joining us for this show. First up, to celebrate the release of their new EP, we hear a live session from Sons Of Great Dane and then Michelle Bacon will drop by as we continue our special 4-part series, “Turning The Tables KC.” Sons of Great Dane have been making music together for years and recently came off of a hiatus for their new EP release show this Friday, July 13 at The Brick. The new EP is called “A Bit Before The Dawn". Then, Michelle Bacon returns as we highlight the contributions of Kansas City women in music and capture their experiences of working in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We hear music from some powerful KC women musicians. This week we’re diving into the vault and play music from: Alacartoona with Erin McGrane, Vedera with Kristen May, Anvil Chorus with Anna Cole, The Wilders with Betse Ellis and American Catastrophe with Amy Farrand.

It's all about Middle of the Map Fest again this time on the show! The 8th annual event is happening THIS WEEKEND, Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30 at several venues with the main stage at Crossroads KC featuring acts like Grizzly Bear, Spoon, Greta Van Fleet, Social Distortion, Nikki Lane, Built to Spill and 60+ more acts. We talk about logistics for the fest, where to pick up your wristbands, how to get tickets and much more. We also hear music from several bands playing the fest including new music from: Wonderfuzz, Other Americans, and The Fey. Plus, music from Heartfelt Anarchy, X.WILSON, The Sluts, Jade Jackson and Golden Groves. It’s a packed show as we celebrate Middle of the Map Fest!

We’re joined by special guests, Michelle Bacon and Emily Miller of Planned Parenthood Great Plains to preview PinkOut with JANE DOE REVUE at recordBar, coming up this Saturday. Bacon is part of a supergroup playing a very cool set of music as a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. After that we jump head first into Middle of the Map Fest! It’s happening NEXT Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30, 60+ bands, with the main stage at Crossroads KC. We talk logistics, venues and play music from several acts on the lineup. Plus, hear from Chase The Horseman, LION, listener, Emmaline Twist, They Call Me Sauce featuring Les Izmore of Heartfelt Anarchy, Greta Van Fleet, Nikki Lane and Built to Spill. 

It’s Boulevardia week, so naturally we’re doing a Boulevardia show! We give you all the info you need to know, how to get tix, where to park, where the stages are, we remind you to download the app and other good bits of knowledge. The fest features 60+ acts on three stages and also a silent disco. Today on the show we hear music from Hembree, Radkey, Lily DeTaeye Music, Clay Hughes, Hi-Lux, Joseph Warren & the Wanderlust Revival, a brand new single from Me Like Bees, Tech N9ne and more.

We’re hanging out with Alicia Solo on this show. In addition to playing Boulevardia next weekend here in Kansas City, she also just released a very cool video. During her travels around the world she turned the camera on the people and asked them “What Makes You Happy?” People from all around the world, of all ages, and a few familiar faces are in there too: Christian Soriano, Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio and producer John Feldmann. In addition to that we play music from Cuee and Yanna the supa flowa, both are playing I Heart Local Music Presents: PRIDE for the Masses on Friday at the Jackpot Music Hall. Then, Second Hand King, who has his album release show on Saturday at recordBar and new music from Tim Stop. We’re doing an entire show on new releases from KC musicians! They’ve got new albums, new EPs and new singles out. Lots of them are playing gigs soon, some at Boulevardia (June 15 & 16), some at Middle of the Map Fest (June 29 & 30), they’re playing at Kansas City Royals games, they’re playing album release shows and more cool things. It should be a fun show as we play music from: Second Hand King, Alicia Solo, Amy Farrand and The Like, Eddie Moore And The Outer Circle featuring Duncan Burnett, Kadesh Flow, Mikal Shapiro Music, Jake Wells Music, Sons Of Great Dane, Mess and Jessica Paige. We have TWO sets of special guests on the show this time!  To start, Carswell & Hope are stopping by to preview their brand new album, "Exit Plan". After they visit with us they’re headed to play recordBar with Cat Dail Music. Then we’re joined by Travis Fields of Westport Roots Festival which takes place this weekend! It’s the 5th annual fest, happening May 25-27 with over 60 bands and it’s always a good time. We hear music from a few acts playing the fest: The Dead South, The Underhill Family Orchestra, Kelly Hunt and Dusty Rust.

This time on the show we are hanging out with some special guests! First up is Nathan Reusch of The Record Machine and Middle of the Map Fest, he put together a free event that’s happening this Saturday called What's Next Fest. We talk about it and hear music from some bands on the bill. After that we're joined by Dedric Moore to talk about his band Mysterious Clouds as we preview music from their brand new EP and talk about their upcoming show on May 24 at recordBar.

Tuesday at 6PM on the Eight One Sixty on 90.9 The Bridge, we are joined by several special guests. First up, Kate Redding, one of the founders of a new fest called Workers Revival Festival - May 11 & 12 at Recordbar featuring an eclectic line up, from soul to hip hop, punk and Americana. We hear music from some acts playing the 2-day event:Ebony Tusks, Rev. Sekou, Red Kate, Scruffy & the Janitors and Austin Lucas. After that we are joined by the band Instant Karma, preview their brand new new 7” and talk about their upcoming gigs at recordBar on 05/26 and at The K as part of Ink Magazine’s pre-game concert series before The Kansas City Royals game on 05/30.

This time on the show special guests, Grassfed join us! We preview their brand new album and talk about their upcoming gig at the 2-day 2nd Annual Bluegrass In The Bottoms, happening outside of Knuckleheads Saloon on May 18 & 19. We also hear from a couple bands playing Middle of the Map Fest on June 29 & 30 - single day tickets went on sale today! Hear from a couple bands with upcoming gigs, The Sluts on Friday at The Riot Room and Y god Y on Saturday at The Rino. Then something old from The Decemberists, they’re at Uptown Theater on May 23.

We hang out with one of the most fun acts to see on stage in KC, the Grand Marquis on this episode of the Eight One Sixty. Their new album, Brighter Days comes out this Saturday, April 28 and to celebrate it they’ve got a big album release show at Knuckleheads Saloon with Victor & Penny and Brandon Phillips and The Condition. We preview the new album and hear about the stories behind the songs from the band. Also, hear music from Katy Guillen and The Girls as we get ready for a pre-game concert at The K this Wednesday, before The Kansas City Royals play the Brewers, as part of Ink Magazine’s Student Night at The K. We also hear brand new music from one of my favorite KC producers, LION and new music from a new project fronted by Eric Cornwell called The Lonely Apparitions.

This time on the show we are joined by two special guests. First up, Judy Mills of Mills Record Company, Saturday, April 21 is Record Store Day (RSD) and we talk about some of the special releases and hear some music from The National, Led Zeppelin, KEVIN MORBY and The Casket Lottery. Also, Casket Lottery is playing at Mills on that day and will have vinyl re-issues of their catalog and a box set available. After that, Jonny Wooddell of the charity National Orange Popsicle Week and also the band Use Your Atlas joins us. He talks about a cool fundraiser event happening on Saturday, April 28th, Restring for Rehab - Fundraiser for Stroke Survivors at Springfield Music KC in Shawnee, KS. Got an acoustic or electric guitar? For $20 you can get a full set of new strings from D'Addario and Co. and 100% of that $20 will go back to NOPW, directly impacting the lives of young stroke survivors and their recovery at Ability KC. HAPPY Middle of the Map Fest ANNOUNCEMENT Day! It's a special TWO hour PLEDGE WEEK edition of the EIGHT ONE SIXTY!!! We're joined by special guests Hermon Mehari and Peter Schlamb who are playing a pre-game concert at The K Wednesday, 4/11 at Noon, before The Kansas City Royals day game at 1:15PM. Then John Kreicbergs of Propaganda 3 joins us for pledge as we announce the lineup for Middle of the Map Fest where we talk about and play music from several of the headliners playing the 8th annual music festival happening in KC on Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30.

It's all about Kansas City Royals!!! We play music from bands playing pre-game concerts this season, as part of Ink Magazine's Student Night at The K. The first Wednesday concert is next week and features Hermon Mehari, visiting KC all the way from Paris, he'll play at noon before The Royals take the field at 1:15 against the Seattle Mariners. We hear from as many of the bands that we can squeeze in during the hour: Katy Guillen and The Girls, American Slim, Instant Karma, Hembree, The Grisly Hand, Hi-Lux, Run With It, Grand Marquis, Jessica Paige and Yes You Are (and also a special little intro song from Sam Billen). There are 12 pre-game concerts this season, it'd be great to see you out there! You can grab $10 tickets with a valid student ID online or at the gates and there's an $8 happy hour special for a beer and hot dog at the concessions by the stage.

The Project H is in our studio this time on the show with a preview of their brand new album, “Everyday, Forever”. They talk about their upcoming album release show on April 4 in the theater at Westport Coffee House. Also on that bill is Mark Lettieri Music, that guy’s got 3 Grammys! Also on the show, hear music from Radar State. Radar State (Outfield Experience Stage) along with New Jazz Order (GATE B) are both playing at The K on Thursday as part of The Royals home opener, as part of Ink Magazine’s pre-game concert series. Both bands will play around 1PM. Also hear new music from Belle & The Vertigo Waves and a brand new song inspired by the marches this past weekend from Barclay Martin.

On this show it's brand new music from Violent Bear, Carswell & Hope, Grand Marquis, Jake Wells Music, Lauren Anderson, Kid Computer, Smitty the Kid and The Sextet featuring Calvin Arsenia.
