Chris Percival went along to No. 42 Market Place in Bishop Auckland to meet Gillian Gamble, who spoke about a children's book. Bishop FM's Chris Percival went along to Bishop Auckland Methodist Church earlier this week to meet Lucy, Craig and Sandra. The church raised sufficient funds to install a community defibrillator and Chris found out where the idea came from and how the fund raising was done. The community training course for the safe use of the defibrillator will be held on Monday 14th August 18:00 - 20:00. Local author Caz Harvey explains how the idea for her new book came about. The book, "When Kevin Found His Purr" is a heart-warming tale of a human and a cat forming a bond, making bad things better by making good things happen! This delightful illustrated story tells the tale of a lonely cat, and of a woman, who both needed love. A true story of how hope can come into your life when you most need it! Bernard has made a return visit to our area to promote his new book, "Miss Perfect". Here, Bernard fondly reminisces on his time as a Lecturer at Durham University and later as a social worker based in Shildon and Spennymoor. Bernard has drawn on these memories to produce a story which, according to Mike Amos, is "wry, amusing, perceptive, insightful and greatly entertaining." Bishop Auckland Town Council's third annual Youth Awards took place last night in the Town Hall to celebrate the amazing achievements of a number of young people from Bishop Auckland.   The town council received 63 nominations, all of which were outstanding. Ten awards were presented recognising volunteering, action in the face of adversity and fundraising for others. Gary Burgham spoke to Niamh Dawson about her award for Sports Achievement.

Debra Willison sounded calm on Saturday morning. The day of the Full Dress Rehearsal for Kynren - An Epic Tale Of England (2017) had finally arrived. Debra, a former seamstress from Gateshead, has overall responsibility for the costume department at Kynren. The performance last night appeared flawless. One could only be in awe of the dedication clearly demonstrated last night by the 1500 volunteers. Superlatives are insufficient to describe the collective achievement that is, Kynren. The costumes play a huge role in the performance, and the number of costume changes behind the scenes must present a logistical nightmare. Debra spoke to Gary Burgham on Saturday Breakfast.
