“For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬When King David wrote this psalm, it was a prayer of intimacy with God. He’s saying he would give up everything - even his kingdom - in order to be a little closer to the Father. Let’s talk about it!

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬God in us makes us overcomes. But today’s verse is much more about wisdom and discernment than it is victory over life’s struggles and challenges. It’s about allowing the Holy Spirit in us to guide us to Truth. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬When we see the “spiritual warfare” verses in Ephesians 6 within the greater context of the entire letter, we might conclude that what Paul is encouraging the Church at Ephesus to guard against is unity - both on the micro and macro levels. The world is a dark place at times. People struggle with sickness, pain, and death. Parents weep over children they can’t help. Marriages crumble. Life is never simple.
