  • #250- Clinton Clegg of The Commonheart

    27/07/2023 Duración: 01h56min

This week, I sit down with The Commonheart founder and frontman Clegg. Clinton has been a musician all his life. With a mother that is still actively playing the church pipe organ twice a week in her 80’s, I think you can say music runs in his blood. Musicians are some of my favorite people to sit down with. It’s not often that their story is a dull one. Clinton’s story wasn’t either. Starting out in metal bands and taking inspiration from a lot of hip hop, I was curious to hear how he managed to hone in on the gritty and redemptive style The Commonheart brings today. This week, Clinton stops by the studio to talk all about it. A perfect guest to have for a milestone moment in 250 episodes of @illcallyourightback. Thanks yinz for listening. Enjoy it! - On top of a great conversation, you have an opportunity to see this band of talented individuals this Friday at @stageae. As I would imagine, there is nothing like playing a hometown show so yinz know it will surely be an experience yinz don’t want to miss. Get

    13/07/2023 Duración: 01h15min

This week, I will be the FIRST to sit down to interview the man behind every Pittsburgher’s favorite Twitter account! The Pittsburgh Scanner is a Twitter account (that now has an Instagram account you should follow!) devoted to being the ears of our fine city! This Yinzer knight in shining armor spends his free time in his basement, drinking Iron City and listening to Pittsburgh’s Police Scanners, all while documenting the most urgent and important situations happening around us. If yinz follow the account then you know exactly the type of content I’m talking about. - These tweets are not fabricated by any means. These are actual situations happening in the city that have came through the police scanner. No embellishment needed in our great city. At Zeds you can find a great selection of vintage pieces with an emphasis on anything centered around the Burgh. Four years ago (almost to the day), I brought Zeds in to talk about celebrating their 1 Year Anniversary and how Zed’s came to be. That was Episode 66, for anyone wanting to start from the beginning. I was still green as a podcaster and interviewer so it was only right to bring him back from a proper sit down to celebrate Year 5. This week, we talk about fashion, vintage, running an Airbnb, what’s changed over the last few years, and what they have planned for the future. I sit down with Adam Milliron. Adam is a fascinating individual with an interesting story on how he climbed to the level he is at today. Adam and his team are the creatives responsible for the banners you see when you’re filling up your gas, the images you see when you walk into stores, the menus you order from, and so much more. This is the guy. Adam and his small team do it all. With hundreds and hundreds of different clients like Sarris Candies, Primanti Brothers, Sheetz, Coca Cola, and so many more, you’ve surely come across his work more than once. For a man who needs no introduction, I will surely try my best. I am absolutely honored to cross another name off of my Bucket List and welcome lawyer, marketeer, and “Pittsburgh Icon” Edgar Snyder to the ICYRB Studio. Growing up, I think it’s safe to say that no matter what you were watching on tv, you’d be sure to hear this man during the commercial break. Mr Edgar Snyder is, in his words, a “marketeer who practiced law.” With hundreds of commercials playing throughout the years, people young and old knew that tagline “There’s Never A Fee Unless We Get Money For You.” This week, Mr Snyder sits down with me to talk about his childhood, his decision to pursue a career in law, being an innovator in marketing, and how he worked his way up to being one of the most well known figures in our city today. 23/03/2023 Duración: 01h59min

This week, I sit down with Chris Copen of Bottle Rocket Social Hall. Bottle Rocket Social Hall is a indie arts venue/ bar that is unlike any place I’ve ever been. When you walk in, you go back in time to a place that looks like the 1970’s sports bar your Uncle had always dreamed about building in his basement. Chris Copen wanted to create a space that could be utilized for a variety of events but still have that unique feel to it. “The Best Show In Town, Six Nights A Week” is how Chris described Bottle Rocket and I think that’s the best way it’s been said. Each month, you’ll find a calendar packed full with all sorts of different events. Whether it’s a local band, Bad Movie Bingo, or a headlining comedian, you can always find something for you. This week, Chris and I talk about why he wanted to open a venue, the jobs he had previously that prepared him to run his own club, how he chose the location he did, and so much more. • I'll Call You Right Back #234 - Brush and Pounce Signs

    23/02/2023 Duración: 01h40min

This week, I sit down with Artist and Sign Maker, Christian Shaknaitis to talk about his work with Brush and Pounce Signs. Sign Painting has been around for hundreds of years. Way back, as early as 300 B.C., merchants of all kinds needed ways to communicate the goods they had for sale. That need cultivated the first form of marketing and advertising that the world revolves around today. In a world of technology and innovation, Christian does all he can do to keep the Craft of Hand Painted Sign Making alive! This week, we talk the origin of Sign Making, how someone falls into such a career path, the process behind it, and so much more. Hand Painted signs are a labor of love. They are something so much more than a Vinyl sticker on a wall.
