This week, I sit down with The Commonheart founder and frontman Clegg. Clinton has been a musician all his life. With a mother that is still actively playing the church pipe organ twice a week in her 80’s, I think you can say music runs in his blood. Musicians are some of my favorite people to sit down with. It’s not often that their story is a dull one. Clinton’s story wasn’t either. He is also known to set off onto several month long bike journeys. Five years ago, Dacey rode across the country and we talked all about it. That was EP 45. This week, I sit down with Churchview Farm’s Queen Bee, Tara Rockacy. Tara is the owner, visionary, and head farmer at Churchview Farm. Churchview Farm is a “farmette” with an education and community engagement focus, located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Before life on the farm, Tara spent her time working her way up the ranks within the Public Library. After realizing her heart wasn’t in it anymore, she reestablished her families third-generation farm. She has made a space for people to learn, as well as enjoy dinner events created and curated by in house chef Csilla Thackray, Naomi Keefe , and other guest chefs from around the city. The farm is women owned and operated, and is home to ducks, hens, goats, bees, and two of the cutest dogs you ever did see. Memorial Day is on Monday, and while most of us have off work, we have to remember what we are celebrating. This week, we pay homage to all those who fought and died serving our country by speaking with a guest who spends her spare time helping do just that. Brinnly Schwartz is the Local Coordinator for the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies Wreaths Across America program. Each December, volunteers of Wreaths Across America make sure over 2 Million gravesites of fallen soldiers and spouses over 3,700 cemeteries have a hand made wreath places on their headstones to honor those who served. This week, I sit down with one of our cities own Pittsburgh Park Rangers. Ranger Stevie has been working for the Rangers for a handful of years and she stopped by the studio to talk to me about what goes into keeping all of our parks functioning smoothly. Growing up, Ranger Stevie wanted to pursue a career in Physical Education but quickly realized she wanted something more in line with nature after an opportunity to go work for a Wilderness Adventure Outfit in Alaska. After her time there, she came home and decided to pursue a career in Park and Resource Management. I sit down with Adam Milliron. Adam is a fascinating individual with an interesting story on how he climbed to the level he is at today. Adam and his team are the creatives responsible for the banners you see when you’re filling up your gas, the images you see when you walk into stores, the menus you order from, and so much more. This is the guy. Adam and his small team do it all. With hundreds and hundreds of different clients like Sarris Candies, Primanti Brothers, Sheetz, Coca Cola, and so many more, you’ve surely come across his work more than once. I truly was blown away by what goes into one of these commercial shoots. When you walk in, you go back in time to a place that looks like the 1970’s sports bar your Uncle had always dreamed about building in his basement. Chris Copen wanted to create a space that could be utilized for a variety of events but still have that unique feel to it. “The Best Show In Town, Six Nights A Week” is how Chris described Bottle Rocket and I think that’s the best way it’s been said. That need cultivated the first form of marketing and advertising that the world revolves around today. In a world of technology and innovation, Christian does all he can do to keep the Craft of Hand Painted Sign Making alive!
