This week I talk with Donnie Gerbert. Donnie is a former US Army intelligence sergeant who also held various other positions in the US military. He is here to discuss his book (and plan) called "A Direct Republic: The Null Hypothesis of Politics". During his 17 years in the Armed Forces, Donnie studied and learned how to systematically tear down a government and then build a new one. My guest today is the founder and executive director of the Tenth Amendment Center, Michael Boldin. Michael and I discuss the gun rights movement, not only in Virginia, but throughout the country. We get into the "sanctuary cities" for gun rights advocates and what exactly that helps accomplish. My guest this week is John Baeza, and we discuss the three years he attempted to be a "libertarian cop". John is a retired member of the NYPD, where he was a detective who was assigned to the Manhattan Special Victims Squad. There he investigated and reviewed approximately 1,000 cases of rape, serial rape, sexual homicide, felony sexual assault, and child abuse cases. During his tenure there, he started realizing the pain and suffering caused by the war on drugs. He was reading libertarian books, and after that, there was no turning back for him. John became a libertarian. After his career with NYPD was over with, he became a Deputy down in Florida where he made a promise to himself: from that point on, he would be a libertarian cop. My guest today is Joshua Smith. He is running for Chairman of the Libertarian National Committee. Josh is on the show to explain exactly why he is the guy for the job. The current chairman has embarrassed the Libertarian Party by demonizing many of the best libertarians out there. Up until I met Josh and interviewed him, I wasn't a renewing member of the Libertarian Party. However, his message inspired me to rejoin and fight to get him elected and the current chairman ousted. My guest today is, Cjay Engel, the proprietor of Bastion Magazine, formerly know as Austro-Libertarian magazine. We discuss the magazine name change and that gets us into a deeper discussion on libertarianism. Cjay and I talk about the identity crisis that libertarianism is facing and the problems that will arise going forward. Many left libertarians are happy to just be anti authority and libertines with no appreciation for Western traditions or culture. There seems to be a cultural war going on within politics and society in general and the libertarian movement is certainly not immune to it. The universalists and neocons have spread their message far and wide and people like Bill Weld and Nick Sarwark have infected the liberty movement with that virus.
