On this episode we chat with life long magician Curt Miller. Curt was recently performing here in The Woodlands TX and I was lucky enough to chat with him after the show. Our conversation went in a number of different directions but always circled back to human engagement and interaction. I learned so much from this top of the food chain performer. I even came to the conclusion that performing magic and educating our youth are not that much different. Thank you Curt for giving me a bit of your time this evening. You are a man of many talents and I feel as if you are just scratching the surface of what you can do. Good luck on bringing live magic shows back to the masses. A little magic is exactly what the world needs at this moment.

On this episode we chop it up with Pedigo Submission Fighting athlete and Mt. Vernon HS Wresting Coach Alejandro Wajner. We get into the nuts and bolts of growing the newest program up in the midwest. Alejandro and Coach Pixley are slowly building a juggernaut and the surrounding area is starting to take notice. With reduced rates and more personal attention to be able to give to the athletes it is only a matter of time until Illinois is theirs. On this episode of the podcast we chop it up with Kaleb Smith an incoming senior wrestler at College Park High School. Kaleb first caught my attention years ago as a junior high student who made friends with me based on our love for grappling. I believe he saw the cauliflower ear and knew that he had a kindred spirit in me. Fast forward a few years and him along with his brother Jacob became standouts in their schools wrestling program. Jacob would go on to win a state championship and wrestle in college. Kaleb on the other hand has wrestled masterfully but has come up a hair short in his race for the state crown. In his most recent state run he wrestled with a torn shoulder that would require surgery after the tourney. He has been on the shelf for 6 weeks now and chomping at the bit to get back on the mats. This down time has allowed him to rest and reflect on what he needs to get that elusive state crown. There is not a doubt in my mind that he will achieve his goal of becoming a state champion this upcomin

On this episode we chat with rising star Zilla Fatu of the famous Fatu Bloodline. Zilla is a young man who grew up inside the pro wrestling world. His father was the world beater known as Umaga and he is kin to The Rock Dwayne Johnson, Roman Reigns, and the Uso's just to name a few others. He has arrived at this juncture in his life with his eyes set on the family business. As a young man he faced adversity early and often as he grew up morning the death of his father at the age of 8. This even led to some hardships and poor choices which got him incarcerated for a good while. Instead of blaming up and blaming the world for his mishaps he grew and matured into the young man he is today. He is a modern day Rocky Balboa success story, he is hoping to take his hardships and utilize them for fuel as he makes a run at the pro wrestling world. On this episode we chat with author/grappler Melissa Logan Sanders from Mt. Vernon Illinois. This warrior poet has been hard at work crafting her own universe  with her book series "Callatin Academy." We step inside the mind of Melissa and learn all about her writing process, inspiration, and what she hopes to achieve on this authors journey. We take a real nice detour as well and chat about her other love which is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She trains at the famed Pedigo Fighting System academy also known as "Daisy Fresh." We learn how Jiu Jitsu helped shape who she is as well as the magic that makes that place produce champion after champion after champion. On this episode we chop it up with my long time student and friend Aaron Boyd AKA $tackz.... We catch up again and chat about his latest music album release and his growth as a human being. He has a new appreciation for life and is wanting to expand his horizons into the television world. He is in the process of creating a 4 part series named "Snow Game" based on real life events. He has recently started his own clothing brand, "Jiu Jitsu is my outlet" and has his eyes on much loftier goals. On top of that he host a podcast where he speaks with various people who have reaped the mental health benefits of the gentle art. It was obvious to me that his love for the art mixed in with his business sense would some day birth his own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu studio. We discuss all ends of becoming a business owner and what he hopes to provide for the people here in The Woodlands Texas. On this episode we chop it up with one of the good guys in professional wrestling Sam Hollomon AKA Buzzsaw Samuels. Sam was one of the first guys that took to me when I started teaching BJJ at Booker T's Reality of Wresting. We have stayed in touch and have chatted about coming on the pod for a year or so now. After making his in ring return about a month ago I knew it was time to reach out and invite him back for our long awaited pod session. I am super glad he is back and equally happy that we got to reconnect on the show because Sam is someone I consider a friend. 

On this episode we sit with Jeremy Mahon who coaches and runs one of Houston's top MMA teams. His WAR training facility and system has been a house on fire and the momentum only seems to be building in the proper direction. He has quietly assembled a team that values hard work, family, and analytics to piece it all together. On top of all this his background and life experiences have given him some insight into what it takes to be successful in this extremely competitive line of work. Another banger of an episode with "The Ultimate Fighter" Pretty Ricky Turcios. Like most of our chats we are all over the place but having a blast all the way through. We discuss everything from the walk down to the octagon to the transformation that takes place before a fight. Make no mistake about it Ricky is a warrior through and through but is not your stereotypical tuff guy. He is very introspective and has a ton of self awareness which always makes for awesome podcast sessions. On this episode we take a deep dive into two areas of my life that I feel strongly about and that is public education & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I really feel as if there is an opportunity for us to marry the two for the betterment of our student population. In particular I want to go after that tough to reach 2% to 5% of students that eat up a disproportionate amount of our admin and teachers time. In doing so I really feel that we can impact and shape the culture of our schools in a positive manner. I know jiu jitsu has been a catalyst for growth in my life and I would like to share that with our students that may need a different type of intervention. The world is changing and so should our methods when it comes to reaching our youth. If you are a believer in the gentle art and think it can be used as a catalyst for good I encourage you share this podcast. On this episode we chat with Dan Miller of "Royalties International" a gentleman who is looking to change the pro wrestling game. Dan really has an eye for the out of ring action which is a huge part of the game. His business "Royalties International" is looking to put the spotlight on those who want to live the gimmick so to speak. When we think of the greats in this sport past and present one starts to notice that there is no off switch, they are on all the time. Dan wants to take his talents behind the camera and help those aspiring performers who are wishing to take it to the next level. His heavy emphasis on the outside the ring action is something that has been neglected or been given very little attention. On this episode we sit and chat with educator, musician, and tribal chief of "The" Wrestling Club Victor Perry. This young man has taken the pro wrestling world and brought it into the classroom. This outside the box thinking has provided so many youth in his NYC school the opportunity to belong to something bigger than themselves. His effort and enthusiasm has paid off in spades, bringing in super stars such as Keith Lee, Swerve Scott, and Sasha Banks. On this episode with chat with up and coming professional mixed martial artist Keron Reed. Keron fights out of the the War Training Center in Houston, TX and is making waves in the fight game. After an ultra successful amateur run Keron is looking to put one foot in front of the other and march right into the UFC if everything goes according to plan. On this episode we sit and chat with one of pro wrestlings best young prospects "The Rocket" Josiah Jean. This young man is getting a world class education at Booker T's Reality of Wrestling. He has all the tools to take his career to the cosmos and beyond often times drawing comparisons to a young Booker T himself. The thing that impressed me most about this young man is his coach ability. He is a sponge and never waste an opportunity to learn and get better. On this episode we sit and chat with "The Buzzer" Tommy Bolton a young independent wrestler that is setting the local scene on fire. Tommy has been classically trained at Booker T's Reality of Wrestling where he has gotten a first class education in sports entertainment. This young man has a unique blend of fundamentals and a pinch of the hardcore style. I was tickled to find out that this young man was well on his way to becoming a highly educated engineer before he bumped into Booker one special evening.
