Revelation is a book many people avoid, but it is a book filled with hope and designed to comfort us, not confuse us! In the first week of this series we discover that the point of the book is to reveal who Jesus is so we can know who we are and how to follow Him.

Paul challenges believers in Jesus in the church at Philippi to be like-minded, or to have the same mind. That happens when we follow the example of Jesus by humbling ourselves and making others more important than we are. In this message we hear how that act can have incredible impact…like a hurricane hitting land! Also, GFC member Josh Burke sits down with Pastor Joel to discuss their recent trip to Florida in response to Hurricane Michael.

In Luke, Mary treasures the moments where she sees Heaven and Earth collide in the person of Jesus Christ, whom she has been given the calling to raise. Because she knows that Jesus isn’t hers to hold onto, Mary has to hold onto Jesus loosely and let him go. What would it look like in our lives if we treasured God’s blessings where we see Heaven and Earth collide in our presence and then held onto those things loosely?

God has loved us radically and unconditionally and has called us to reflect this love to a broken, hurting world. In this message we unpack Jesus’s teaching of the Good Samaritan and look into the importance of us seeing and meeting the needs of our world through love.

How we steward relationships for the glory of God says a lot about who we are and what we believe. In this message we will hear from several people about how they steward various relationships with intentionality to help others know and follow Jesus.

We are all given the same 24 hours per day to steward for God’s glory. How we use the resource of time is just as important as how we steward money. Part of being good stewards of what God has blessed us with is finding specific times and ways to give an outrageous gift that puts a smile on God’s face. After all, God loves a cheerful (hilarious) giver!

How we act as stewards of the finances God blesses us with says a lot about our hearts toward God. God knew that the human heart can easily make money a god, so He teaches us how to resist the temptation to bow to that idol. Biblical tithing is God teaching us to live with open hands when it comes to money both as a means to bless others and to receive from Him.

We are stewards of all God has blessed us with. But when stewards begin to act like owners things can go very wrong! In the first week of our new series “Firm Foundation,” we discuss how to be good stewards of all God has given to us. In this message we also talk with our faith family about how to be good stewards of the building God has blessed us with this year where we worship weekly.

This week we participated in Communion with our faith family. We also had a chance to hear stories from some in our church who went on mission trips this Summer to El Salvador, Kentucky and North Carolina.

Jesus modeled living life in authentic biblical relationships. This is tough in our day and age. But if we stick with it, we can bear much fruit.

Making disciples requires more than just knowing about Jesus, we are also supposed to be equipped and released to serve the Kingdom in His Name. This message looks at Jesus’ method of calling people into relationship, equipping them to serve and then setting them free to work in the world for the glory of God.

To be a disciple-making church we have to have a team mentality. There are many units functioning within the church, but we are all on one team. Each individual team serves the purpose of meeting our overall mission- to go and make disciples!

Satan loves to see us wander off from life in the body of Christ. Do you know why? We are much easier targets to take down when we aren’t surrounded by our brothers and sisters and when we are spiritually weak. For that reason we always want to be good shepherds of people and chase those who stray from worship and/or relational environments. We notice you. We value you. We pursue you. Just like Jesus!

On July 15th we had a community worship day as part of Kingsport’s FunFest Celebration. Joel spoke to our community about coming together and being united as followers of Jesus just as He prayed for us to do right before he went to the cross. Unity within the Church of Jesus is important because it clearly shows the world the power and glory of God. We can do more for the Kingdom of Jesus together!

The second essential for a disciple making church is to reach the lost. In this message former GFC Pastor, Tommy Rutledge, talks about sharing Jesus in our modern context.

David Parish of Pioneer Bible translators shares with us some of his personal life stories from the mission field. He has worked with many different people groups and has seen the bible be translated in many different languages. Continuing to learn how to be bold and that God wants to use even you to do bold things for God.
