I had a client ask for a refund last week after 7days with me. I'm going to re look at my on boarding process but is there anything else I shud look at to avoid this in future? For the long term play of being in a position to coach other coaches around building a successful coaching business as you guys are doing. What would you say are some of the key attributes, things to consider and boxes to be ticked with regard taking this leap? "When you have something you want to build, another offer/ service, which is for your TM and an area you know really well, at what point do you know that it's the ideal time to start to work on this while managing to keep the r

"I am going to ask some of my clients to audit my social media to see if my content speaks to them. Do you have any advice for how I should go about this? What specific feedback should I be looking for?" How many times per week would you say is enough for using polls/ question boxes in stories? Do you think this depends on audience size? I still struggle to collect basic metrics (measurements/photos / weight) with some online 1-1 clients. I’ve spoke about why we do it and the benefits etc etc etc. they are paying and staying with me so I can’t complain really but I want to obviously get them results. Any advice? Thanks "-  I feel like I spend a lot of time on adding value to current clients and not as much on generating leads - how should you balance your time between this? I wonder if I find myself doing more and more for current clients as I want to make sure they do not leave me.  However,  I know I won't be able to continue in this way for a higher number of clients. How should you approach a client who is telling you they are following your program and education system but have confided in another client and said she isn't doing any of it. Do I wait till she doesn't get results to speak to her? Or call her out earlier? What are some options/services I can provide as a stopgap until space opens up when I’m fully booked? Want to make sure it is something worthwhile that the potential client will get value from rather than just a program they probably won’t do Do you think it's ok to share on socials that you are abroad and working? Conscious that my clients might think I'm having a jolly. Additionally, with regard to onboarding, new clients do you think being out of the country could deter them, from signing up? I struggle opening up about this and it feels like a bit of a cliche but I find it really hard to look after myself properly in terms of exercise and diet. I feel like I should know the answer to this but how can I make it easier for myself? I always feel li

Do you know the difference between positive and negative stress? Does a personal trainer have any role in managing the global stress crisis? Did you know stress has overtaken back pain as the biggest cause of being off work? Is exercise is a system stress, is it always good for you? Are there foods that meaningfully decrease stress? Why has Wim Hoff and Cold Water Immersion become so popular? Should you be measuring your clients Heart Rate Variabilty above all else?

How do you go about cancelling on clients if you are I’ll yourself? Do we owe back 121’s ? I'd really like to start doing more educational talks/seminars in the gym. What's the best way to get this up and running in a Pure Gym? I seem to be getting really overwhelmed with the amount of information throughout this course (even things like lead generation confuse me because I’ve never really touched it). I’m doesn’t help that I’m quite a slow learner either - so my question is how would you recommend I approach the material if I’m constantly feeling so overwhelmed? Thoughts on one-off or once per month 1-1 PT sessions? Had a few conversations recently with people wanting this and I'm not sure it's worth it? or is it worth doing in the hope they sign up for more down the line? Advice for lead gen when the gym is practically empty! I had planned to launch my group ex for mums and babies on w/c 13th June and planned to start marketing for it this week by creating a free Facebook group. I'm currently in

I get the majority of my enquires through email. I always get asked about my prices. My question is should I be revealing my prices in my response or not? Sometimes I think this puts people off. Perhaps it's best to get them booked in for a consultation first before revealing the cost? Trying to think of a more professional way of going about client off boarding (when clients leave), at the moment I don’t do anything but want to put some sort of leavers survey or leavers process together "I am currently doing lead gen in times I don't want to fill (i.e. 6pm and 7pm) due to being at full capacity.  So even if I do bring these people into my business in the future, they will not be free to train at my scheduled 1-2-1 slots during the day. I am also going outside of my set schedule/time management boundaries to train 1-2-1 clients and don't like it...  The only solution I can think of is to transition these clients onto a different service, but not sure it's right for them atm.  Any ideas o

What do you think are the 3 most important components are to becoming a successful fully booked PT "I have a couple of clients just now who are struggling due to having a lot on with work and their personal lives. I don't want to be the type of PT who tells them if they don't make time for exercise then they just don't want it enough. But at the same time I think I can possibly be doing more to support them, I feel as if although I'm trying to be nice and understanding, I might've been a bit too laid back about their training & nutrition taking a backseat. Have you got any tips for helping clients through periods like this? I have had a think about it and I think I might need to communicate with them better. If I know in advance that they are going through a busy spell, I can sit them down to come up with some open ended questions to help them come up with solutions. Thanks" "I stopped doing one off sessions with people but I've got a member/husband of current client who wants to do a session to help

Would you say there is a ratio of what type of posts we need to do for social media? Should there be a balance of informative posts, reels, recipes, gyms tips etc. "Some of my clients are adamant that they are eating a 'healthy diet' and do not need to/cannot make any changes due to hectic schedule (one client); or fear of failure/dislike of calorie counting/any discussion around nutrition (another client - very sensitive subject matter!  We could not even discuss nutrition in the consultation, it was that bad!  So I completely respected this and focused on performance goals despite her being severely overweight).  We agreed the client journey would focus on nutrition at a later date, but it is becoming evident that their results are not going to be optimal (I did make this clear to them from the start). When you know a client would get better results with a different approach, but they are resistant to change/do not believe anything is wrong with their diet (even just in terms of performanc

"I will be looking into what I can do on Stridist but in general, how can I offer more value and accountability when it comes to nutritional support for my one2one online clients.  Second  question  - I am struggling to get progression photos and measurements off some clients. I add it to their weekly check ins as reminders and reiterate the reasons why we do it and how it benefits then but I’m hitting my head against a wall.  Any advice? Thanks" How long do you think an effective consultation should last where we can get a sale but not also use up loads of time? Any tips on chasing up enquiries? I had 10 last week but as of yet no consults booked in. Want to reach out again but not sure how to go about it "I know my ""ideal client"" and have been making sure my message is to them, however, I have different skillset that could be for a different market. e.g. I work mostly with women making sure they have the right mindset and approach to losing weight, but I'm also a Low back pain

How often should we message clients to make a good service and what sort of things can we say? I want to make my service a bit more active so what can I do in between sessions and check ins? "I’ve still not plucked up the courage to up my prices for my monthly online 1-2-1 coaching.  I’ve always felt like an apprentice on an apprentice wage with this.  I want to go for it and and rate my monthly fee.  I want to use the price increase for current client retention.  Do you think keeping current clients on their current price is a good idea and to let them know that only new clients will be on the new higher rate?" Best way to create scarcity for online coaching other than ig stories? Do you know of any companies that would check/verify our social media posts before scheduling to ensure that I don't say anything I shouldn't in them. Been thinking of taking some time off and go travelling from Jan 2023. Want to start online coaching so I can work on the go. What is the first s

Everyone wants Amazon prime type of service, when it comes to weekly check ins my client check in by the end of the day on Sunday and I try and read, film and record feedback videos and send them back to each client my Monday night. This can be challenging! Especially if I get late check ins. How long would you allow to send feedback videos? I want to offer an Amazon prime type service but realistically it might go past the 24hr time frame sometime. How do we make Instagram stories more engaging? How would you deal with other trainers in a commercial gym? How can I best create conversations on Facebook? It feels less interactive than Instagram but it’s also where my demographic and most of my clients come from I have a client on 1 session per week and I don’t believe she’s completing her sessions out with ours. How do you think splitting her sessions up into two half hours would work? So as to guarantee she gets in the gym twice per week and go over the main lifts? The best way to approach business

PT Business Transformation Program open to sign up! Click here to find out more!  Questions cover this week;  I’m using Trainerize now and you can add a lot into clients calendars. How in depth do we need to go for scheduling things like progress photos, and measurements What cocktail should I go for while I’m by the pool? How would you balance working another job alongside being a PT to avoid burnout? Have a good time at level up and try not to miss me having a breakdown next week! In terms of online marketing is it better to go all in social media or email marketing? or allocate even time to each? "I don't like educating clients about calories anymore as I don't think it works. No matter what I do they all still believe they're eating between 1200-1400 calories a day. I think I'm going to do a new video series on BMR and under reporting calories to see if that helps. Is there anything else I can do as I'm at the point where I don't feel there's anything else I can do to help them." I

Questions covered this week ....  I want to start online coaching but don’t want to call it ‘online coaching’ as I feel like it’s a generic name and sounds like everyone else. What sort of path could I take for naming my online coaching platform? What are the 3 top systems I should have in place for my business? Free PT competition winner says she’ll get in contact in May to sign up properly as April won’t work, what can I do to ensure this happens? Was thinking I’ll keep her in my client group/email list and send her a home program for April How would you deal with someone who prefers a “per session”/block booking way? The main reason is because they travel a lot so can’t have a set routine. I am worried sessions will carry over and mess up my time table. Thoughts? "I am looking for advice on running a free 14 day plan through email I am thinking about emailing the plan out as a pdf, then sending out 3-4 emails a week offering value. I'll eventually send out a CTA asking them to book a consu

PT Business Transformation Program now LIVE to sin up and find out more Click here! Questions covered this week include;  What should the success rate of signing clients up through a consultation be? In your opinion, what is the best question to have on a check-in form? How do you compromise between your price for the service you think should be provided vs what they can afford? I did a consultation and had an idea of what they needed, but they could only afford maybe 3/4 of the price. Some ideas would really help thanks guys From going through the process of talking to someone, getting them on a consult call and then making them a client. How do you get round the questions about pricing, I had a women ask 4 times even though I had gone through how the consultation works, etc I need to work on my retention I cant get many client's staying past 3 months I understand their results could be better so maybe there's a disconnect but I would love if client's literally brought there pals into my busine

April 8th & 9th in Manchester we will be speaking at the LevelUp event.  Get your tickets by clicking here!  Questions covered this week;  It’s hard to fill slots up during daytime hours where it’s really quiet, as I find my target market isn’t usually around at the gym. I find it’s more men that just crack on with what they are doing but I’m not looking for people like that, Any advice? What is your best productivity and get shit done tip?  What is the one thing that you believe all coaches should do to ensure they move forward with business?" Any advice for editing videos. What software to use? More curiosity - how do PTs etc go about these '8 week to xxx' type programmes? Is it generic info launched enmasse? Individualised? Quite a broad question tbh! I enjoyed  the chat on client programming from Thursday night. This is an area I’m happy with but always want to improve on. I tend you have the same programming model for most my female fat loss clients which  is

If you have a questions or discussion point for next week, please use admin@ptmentoracademy.com and put "Q for podcast" in the subject line and we will be happy to answer/discuss on next weeks episode.  Questions covered this week are;  I want to save as much money as possible but also have a big ambition of being a rent-paying PT, what advice would you give me? How to get yourself back on track when you feel you have had a set back? I've had a few enquiries recently for online coaching but I only normally do this for clients who are on there way out of my business and no longer need me face to face. It's not something I actively market but feel like I'd like to be better prepared when I have these type of enquiries. When taking on an online client, should it be very similar to onboarding a face to face client? "Do you have any future predictions on the way you think online personal training will evolve in the future?  Also do you have the location set for this Level Up event ? the lin

    08/03/2022 Duración: 18min

This weeks Q&A from the community;  What sort of features can I add to a small group boxing class to make it super valuable? Besides reminding them what can I do to make sure my in house referral competition brings in leads? Should you chase people that will 'go away and think about it' after consulation and if so how soon after? We all know how too much time on social media/online/phones etc. is unhealthy - affects sleep quality, focus, attention, can create constant distraction, less productivity, anxiety, stress etc.  Do personal trainers promote an unhealthy lifestyle by spending too much time online?  And encouraging their clients to do the same? (FB communities, watching videos, reading ebooks, social media platforms etc).  It's obvs necessary for marketing, but conflicts with my values around health. "When targeting local businesses, would you work on focusing on a few at a time as and when you find them, or just wait til I have a bigger list and crack on with it?

This weeks Questions covered below;  I struggle with keeping up with content. I have a planner but sometimes I get carried away with different tasks. How would you manage this? How can we approach people for doing something like a health check? How can you put systems in place to successfully navigate this rollercoaster journey of being a PT?  One day you're buzzing because a client signed up or got incredible results, the next your absolutely downtrodden because a client left you or didn't sign up etc.  I'm trying to manage my expectations but it's tough. Please can I have more tips on remaining neutral with my clients?  How can I not get carried away if they do well at something?  It's so hard! Thanks" What's your view on peeps with (or claim) ~20 gym floor clients, ~20 online clients plus group settings going on? Am I missing something, as I'm not sure where the time would allow? Or is it copy n paste type generic shite?

Another great week of check ins and questions from the legends on the academy.  If you want to get involved with the next intake onto the academy, register your interest here!  How can we excel in small group training lead gen and marketing?  If you were going from a commercial to a private gym, how do you know when would be the right time, what are the considerations and if you are in a position to do so. Any suggestions for after care once a client leaves? Finishing with a long term client due to circumstance rather than her being ready to go alone and want to give her the best chance moving forward, she’s not ready for a new PT yet and I don’t think online will work for her right now If you have not been marketing an offer or your services for quite a bit and would like to get 3-6 (1-1) clients in the next 6 weeks with no gym floor traffic available. Please recommend what you would cover/include in a general sickness policy relating to clients cancelling sessions.  Do you make up sessions with an already full schedule?  It seems unreasonable to penalise a client for something that is not their fault.  (Clients do not seem interested in anything other than 1-2-1/face-to-face sessions.  They also expect what they are paying for, as part of the service, to be delivered).  How do you communicate all of this in a fair and reasonable way without this issue affecting your business?  Q.2 Please remind me what should be included in a COVID policy - both relating to the trainer and/or the client being off sick. Thanks :-) I’m going to be doing seminars at the gym, at the end would you present my service, or would you offer another workshop / lead gen activity to increase interactions? How can I make lead gen on the gym floor really effective? In terms of potential services available. Do you think having too many offers can confu
