Today we turn our attention to Jesus’ last hours before He was arrested. He knew the end was near. As Dr. Alicia Britt Chole states on page 47 of 40 Days of Decrease, “Last steps and last stops are weighty indeed. What we do with our final breaths reflects the values we hold dear in life.”

In our first Sunday of Lent, we learn from John the Baptist the essence of decrease, so that Jesus may increase.

Heads up - this message is about money! The Biblical landscape of the harvest field, and the activity of sowing and reaping, is seen throughout scripture as a foundational principle in the Kingdom of God.

One of the characteristics of God is that he is immutable - he does not change. But thank God, we do change! And God changes the 'NOT's' of life through his presence and power!

I invite you to ponder the Horizon of 2019 - what do you see stretching out in front of you. We don’t know everything this year will hold for us. The Wonder of Christmas is Christ the Savior is born! Don't lose the wonder, but instead treasure it up in your heart, keeping your experience fresh and the message alive.

During this Advent season, we are going to sharpen our senses, pay attention in order to not miss what God is doing. We are going to explore the reality of how the Kingdom of God is in direct contradiction to the kingdoms of this world. God’s ways are higher than our ways, and his thoughts than our thoughts. As we follow Jesus and learn to live out the realities of God’s Kingdom, we will see that we must live in an opposite spirit to that of the world.

He vividly articulates anger, depression, joy, sadness, longing, exultation, adoration, guilt, remorse, fear, anxiety, faith, hope, contentment, pleasure, and more. David’s knowledge of God included an understanding of God’s knowledge of him. He showed us how to be authentic with God, to accept that God knows us better than we know ourselves, and to let go of pretension, and pray our hearts out.
