Civil Disobedience and the Christian
08/03/2022In this Midweek Podcast, member and Missional Community Group leader, Michael Patterson, leads a discussion with some of the pastors of All Peoples Church on a relevant topic – Civil Disobedience. Thank you for listening! Why this podcast? Daniel’s sermon + the particular historical moment we just lived through. What’s the purpose of this podcast? To equip our people to think through individually how a Christian man or woman should relate to the state and how we will think through relating to the state as a community. Questions: we will get into specifics in a little bit, but in general, when should we obey God rather than the ruling authorities? Romans 13:1-7: Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rul

Give God Your Allegiance (Even When You Pay Your Taxes)
27/02/2022Give God Your Allegiance (Even When You Pay Your Taxes) Luke 20:19-26 Main Point of the Sermon: Give God your allegiance, even when you pay your taxes. Introduction Maybe you remember getting your first paycheck when you realized that 30% or so was taken out in taxes? You probably weren’t saying, “Man, I’m so happy to be contributing to my government!” I’ve been through a couple tax seasons that I got caught off guard with large tax bills. It was tempting to try to get by without paying, and shamefully, I admit there were times when I wasn’t totally above board with my taxes. But as I came to surrender my life and allegiance to Jesus more and more I realized that becoming a citizen of heaven should never diminish my ability to be a good citizen on earth. Just the opposite. I learned that it is not just my worship on Sunday or the bigger issues of morality that mattered to God. He cares about smaller details like my taxes and how I respond to the government I live under, even one’s I disagreed with

Your Faith Has Saved You
16/01/2022Your Faith Has Saved You Luke 18:31-43 Main Point of the Sermon: The path to more faith is the path of the cross. Introduction There have been seasons in my life that I felt particularly weak and needy. Like just recently when I was sick with Covid just after having an unexpected surgery. Or during an intense and trying time of ministry last year that threatened the unity of our church. Or when I was a little younger and I had made a mess of many relationships because of my sin. Or when I didn’t know how I would pay my school bills or rent while training for ministry. In each scenario I felt my need for God acutely. My situation required faith because I couldn’t see what I needed in front of me. I know many of you have been in similar places in this last season. Stress with sick kids and family, health issues, financial struggles, sin battles, scares in pregnancy and childbearing, just to name a few. It’s hard to understand sometimes what God is doing in these moments. But wha
