Tonight, we announce some news that we've been waiting ~7 years to share. Pretty excited, pretty grateful and prettyyyyy pumped. After we chat through that and the plans moving forward, we move to a recap of Bob's field trial with a few Lone Duck dogs. It was a super difficult layout and tons of dogs struggled to stay on course. Bob reviews how it went, what he learned and how you and he can do better next time based off this experience. Tonight we had a great conversation with our good buddy, Dakota Mealer... you may remember him from a past episode. Dakota is a fantastic trainer who currently has our little girl, Jolene, to see what he can do with her. Tonight's show is a special one. We reconnect with our good friend and someone we look up to for a whole bunch of reasons, Ira McCauley. When we first started this show, Ira was our first guest and if you haven't heard the show, check it out (episode 2) because you'll wet yourself laughing. Tis the season so we chat about turkeys and how Ira has killed 100+ turkeys in his career. We hear about his gun and the wild story it has and where its final resting place is. Today, we chat with our buddy, Oscar Mora, from Elevated Canine Academy. Oscar is a fantastic dog trainer out on the west coast and as you'll learn, he knows a thing or two about training athletic dogs with high drive. One of the questions we often receive is regarding "a high drive dog and how to manage it." With the stakes being quite high for dogs in protection competitions, we chat a lot about drive capping and how to work WITH a dog, their energy, drive, motivation, etc., rather than learning how to "manage" it. We often say it's important to train the dog in front of you and it's great to hear Oscar (who has tons of experience with all sorts of dogs) echo these opinions. We also learn a little about Oscar's time in the bite suit and in front of the movie camera. Overall, he's a super cool dude who is great at teaching dogs and people. He and Bob will be commentating at this year's K9 Street League event! It's like the bite dog and protection dog version of the SRS in the hunting dog world. Bob asks KD a ton of cool questions about the training involved, the types of situations people have to prepare their dog for, how people in the bite suits prepare, etc. and a ton more. The bite dog world is incredible and the crossover between the foundational principles of dog training for them and for the hunting world are similar. Tonight we sit down to chat with Cable Smith from the Lone Star Outdoor Show (check him out here) and trade a few hunting stories. We learn how he got into the radio business and how he originally trained his first gundog. We also hear how his passion for the outdoors has evolved and how he now chases wild game all over the US and Africa. He even talks about how to find cool hunts, prices and some misconceptions about hunting in different places. Cable is a super down to earth guy and is an awesome storyteller. It was great to have him on the show and hang out with us for a bit.

Tonight we sit down to chat with our fellow dog man, Tom Davis. The Lone Duck crew is pretty fired up to have Tom on our show because he's a great storyteller and really knows his stuff when it comes to dog behavior. To kick off the show, we hear the backstory of how Tom got into his first business and how that led into his WILD story of getting into off leash training. We then dig into more of how he is unique in working with dogs and then he and Bob rattle off some Q&A questions from Instagram. Had a great call last night with one of the greats, Lyle Steinman. Yes, he came back onto the show to catch up and recap his year with Bob. They dig into Master Nationals, The Mamba Challenge, his goals for next year and how they plan to get there. It was pretty interested to hear Lyle talk about goals and how he sets and achieves them. Then we slide on into some questions from our patreon community. Lyle and Bob run through transitioning dogs from being at the trainers to being at home, casting drills and tips, how Lyle tones down a high-drivin' dog and a bunch more.
